I’ve eaten the lamb gyro on two occasions and it is always juicy, tender, and delicious. I’ve tried the chicken gyro before and it was also good, but I would definitely recommend the lamb gyro if I had to choose one. The fries are awesome too! Great flavor – tossed in olive oil and seasoning(I think there’s a hint of lime too), served with a chipotle mayo on the side.

Gyro’s and Falafel are excellent. The restaurant is usually pretty empty, it seems that most of their business is takeout/delivery. There are always 5+ take out orders sitting on the counter.

I absolutely love this place! Their gyros are delicious! Everything tastes fresh and made to order. We were a little worried eating here because it’s always empty but we realized a lot of orders get called in and picked up or delivered. In fact, during the summer when we went to the town pool, we ordered from them and they delivered it to the pool! You must check them out. Their greek fries are to die for!

I had the Greek gyro for lunch and it was delicious. Great food and very friendly service. Would definitely recommend and come here again.

While I do absolutely love the food, I feel their takeout portions are significantly less than if you dine in. Almost makes the price tag not worth takeout. Don’t get me wrong, best takziki ever, but very small portions.

Nice quaint little place. Service was good. We ordered the hummus, Greek salad, pork and chicken souvlaki. Hummus left a bit to be desired. Just felt like something was missing. Greek salad was great and the souvlaki’s were just ok. Nothing really to write home about. Wouldn’t be my first choice for Greek food but it’ll do

Was just recently introduced to this restaurant from a co-worker of mine. Really delicious Greek/Mediterranean food that is reasonably priced and has fast and friendly delivery. I haven’t been to the restaurant myself so this review is based off of delivery only. I decided on ordering off the lunch menu and got the falafel souvlaki platter for $ 9.95. It came with the choice of a soup or a salad so I opted for the salad and was glad I did. My platter came with about 8 falafel and greek fries. My falafel were different than any others I have tried before. they had a crispy exterior with a mushy center that I still enjoyed but I’m used to the bright green center with little bits of chopped chickpeas and fava beans. This restaurant also doesn’t have tahini just an FYI they gave me tzatziki and I was very happy with the flavor combo. The Greek fries were unfortunately a little soggy but its hard to keep fries crisp and fresh when dealing with delivery, I still enjoyed them. The side greek salad was delicious and fresh with feta cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Two of my coworkers ordered the chicken over rice with lemon sauce for lunch and said it was good but very lemony, especially when they decided to get the soup that was lemon chicken as the side option. I personally love lemon chicken soup but I can see how the lemon could of been an over kill for this meal. Overall this is a really great place for me to grab my Greek/Mediterranean fix around lunch time see ya soon Sparta Taverna!

Ordered from Sparta Taverna the first weekend I moved into my new apartment. We ordered Greek Fries, Chicken Chipotle Wrap, Gyro Wrap and a Greek Pizza. Everything was PERFECT. The fries were crisp and fresh, not cold and soggy. The chipotle sauce was the best chipotle sauce I have ever had. I had extra and used it on a sandwich the next day. The gyro wrap was hot and fresh tasting. The meat was tender and juicy. And the Greek pizza was great too! We ordered from Sparta again recently — this time opting for salads and were were not disappointed! We had the Mediterranean Salad with Gyro Meat and the Supreme Salad with Gyro meat. Just amazing. The veggies were fresh. There wasn’t too much dressing. They were just filling enough! Highly recommend this place! We will definitely be ordering from Sparta frequently. It is by far our favorite takeout place in the area!

Love Greek food and this was OK. Loved: –flavors! i ordered the pork skewer & the flavoring was top notch –dolmadaki(stuffed grape leaves) were my favorite. they included lemon slices which was the perfect touch –came with tzatziki sauce seasoned with dill, along with pita –min $ 10 purchase for free delivery Ehhh: –for $ 5, you get 1 triangle of a baklava(it looked like it was sliced in half diagonally). Inside, there was this odd layer that was a little bready/cakey. I thought baklava was all flaky? -(for delivery) packaging is poor. my pork skewer literally came in a dripping, oily plastic bag. I would recommend just getting shorter skewer sticks that can fit nicely in a container. –as flavorful as the pork skewers were, they were mainly fatty, barely much meat. –the quality/value for the price is borderline but I’m still in support of small businesses especially when it comes to specialty food.

So far, the best Mediterranean food I have had the liberty of eating! Believe me when I say I have tried many places near Teaneck, and this place is now my go-to place. I say this after ordering food once and having it delivered well before the time they estimated it would get to my place by. The girl who picked up the call was really sweet and had the best customer service. She was patient in answering my questions and maintained her sweet tone until the very end, because lets face it, all customers get annoying with their 1000 questions. Overall, def. recommend the place and look forward to more good Mediterranean food!

Mmmmmmmm… One of the best Greek Restaurants around. Salads, Souvlaki and sides are all delicious. Only negative thing is the delivery times. But hey, can’t complain too much especially when ordering during dinner time. If you haven’t tried them, give it a try.

YUM!!! I just ordered from Sparta Taverna for the first time tonight after seeing them on GrubHub and wanting to try a new Mediterranean place. I am SO glad I did!!! I ordered a hummus appetizer and a chicken souvlaki platter. The platter came with a small salad that I had first and it was DELICIOUS. I don’t know what seasoning or dressing they put in there, but it was AWESOME. I would love to have a full size of it. NOM! The chicken in the souvlaki platter was tender, moist and well seasoned. And portioned pretty largely! It came with a tzaziki sauce that was also made extremely well and fresh. It came also with a side of fries and a chipotle mayo sauce that I wasn’t expecting. Since that’s right up my alley, it was great. Just TOO much for me to finish tonight!(lunch tomorrow, YAY!) The hummus portion was also large and seasoned well with grilled pita bread on the side. All in all, I am DEFINITELY ordering again! The delivery lady was also SUPER sweet, and I felt bad since it may have been their first time delivering to my building, and it could get confusing. But she was the sweetest thing ever, and my food wasn’t cold either! I’ve been looking for a good Mediterranean place that won’t break the bank, and Sparta has definitely made their way to the top of my list :) Lamb souvlaki, I’m comin’ for ya next!

I’m glad this restaurant is in our neighborhood. It’s delicious, affordable, and nearby. Can’t beat that combination. From the outside, you wouldn’t be able to tell it’s a Greek restaurant as it lacks the traditional blue and white decorations, but the food definitely is up to par. As we waited for our food after ordering, we were given a small sample of their pita and hummus which added to the quality of their service. The pita was kind of dry and greasy, but the flavor of the hummus definitely made up for it. I had the chipotle gyro which was one of the better gyros I’ve had in a long time. The fries that come packed inside the gyro reminded me of the Grease Trucks at Rutgers, but better. If you’re in the Ridgefield Park area and need some Greek food in your life, this place is well worth the visit.

Still keep coming back for the Sparta Salad! I’d put in a little less olive oil and switch back to Granny Smith apples.

Went for lunch here with a co-worker. It was the 1st time for both of us and we really enjoyed the Greek salad with chicken. The chicken was slightly marinated and hot A++ Plus, the staff was very pleasant! Would definitely go back again.

Excellent dinner here. Staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. The restaurant is quaint. Went here later in the evening and it was still busy which was a good sign. We had the hummus and grape leaves for an appetizer. Both were very good. They also kept bringing out the warm pita bread which was nice. For dinner I had the chicken souvlaki and my husband had the lamb souvlaki platters. Both meats were marinated and cooked perfectly. Each entrée came with a small greek salad and rice pilaf. Would definitely come back here.
