This and That Hardware and Plumbing

I work nearby and have come here occasionally for years. Lately, it’s been more often. They have a varied inventory plus one thing you can’t get at HD or Lowes: actual, courteous, useful help. Tell them what you need, or, better, what you’re trying to do, and they’ll get it for you.
Also, they open early — I want to say 8 am and will revise if necessary — and parking is on the street. No problem picking up hardware for an evening project on the way to work, as you’ll be in and out in no time.

My favorite hardware store. Great service (helpful info, load your car) and they have an amazing amount of stuff. Don’t need to go anywhere else.

I bought a snow shovel at this Store two weeks ago. I paid over $ 20 for the snow shovel and used it three times. There is only two sheet metal screws holding the actual shovel to the handle. Needless to say the screws fell out and I was left with two pieces. A shovel and a handle. I seriously thought that the owner of the hardware store would either return my money or swap out the defective shovel for another one at the same cost. Instead the owner argued with me that the shovel was worn out on the end and that she could not except a return or refund my money back. I tried to explain to her that I bought the shovel there just two ago, but she wasn’t having it. She said, «I’ll give you the two screws that are missing and you fix shovel». NICE. I have been patronizing this hardware store since it opened, because it’s a local establishment. That’s the answer I get? The argument continued and she threw me out of the store.
LESSON LEARNED: Go to the big chain hardware store on the highway next time. No problem there returning defective merchandise.
