We got lucky and the place was open and doing tours the day we were in town. Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4pm are their hours. The tour is $ 8 per person less if you are a senior, child or student. John walked us through the house. You get to go upstairs as well as outside to see the cannon ball. They have sided over the cannon ball but cut out a part of the siding so it can be viewed. We learned a few things and got to see a few things we have never seen before. We also learned a few more things than I wanted about John’s life but I do get it. I also didn’t really like some of the staging upstairs but again I get them trying to show as much as possible. This place does weddings in the carriage houses and gardens. The tour took about 40 minutes. The gift shop is tax free. We would liked a bit more information on the battle of Ridgefield but found out more from the internet. If you are in the area and they are open, stop by.
