Horrible place for birthdays. Super expensive!!! you get the minimum value for a lot of money. Do yourself a favor and look for other options. Never go there again

This is a fantastic place to find beads and learn! Jolene is the sweetest owner you can imagine! Its the best bead store in Bergen County NJ! The store is like visiting fairyland :-)

This place could make an addict out of me! I had brought kids here and on the second go-​round I decided to get into it and do some beading. It was SO fun! I felt like a kid again myself and it was nice to have to put on my creativity hat. I was inspired by a single bead and I decided to make an anklet with it. I left with a custom piece of jewelry that was 100% me and with the pride that I had made it myself. Yes, it was $ 40 and I could probably buy many pretty anklets for the same price, but this was special to me and putting it in that perspective, it’s worth it. But the kid’s made a necklace and keychain, with a bracelet with the leftover beads for around $ 65. So their pieces were a little less. You will get charged little bits for things like clasps, hooks, wire, ect, just keep a tally in your head of what you are spending on beading (everything is well marked with pricing) and then add a few dollars and you won’t be surprised when the total comes.
There is an amazing selection; I actually saw a whole area of small drawers I missed the first two times I visited, so I need to explore that next time. Jolene, the owner, has a wonderful bohemian flair about her that permeates through the store and the products, and I really connect with that. You feel comfortable and welcomed here. The staff is friendly and helpful. I know some people have complained to the contrary, but every time I have been here it has been super busy, and it is a small space to work, so I think the staff is doing great considering their challenges with so many customers. As long as you ask, they are always willing to help. When making my anklet, I even asked for creative suggestions and they took it very seriously and helped me out. Just don’t be needy if they are busy, be patient. The staff is very talented.
They offer classes to learn some of the more complicated techniques and these run around $ 40. I did hear that there may be some webisodes coming to teach you these techniques at home. They have been running a kid’s camp and five kiddos I know all had a great time. It was $ 65 for four hours and the kid’s made three projects each. If the kids went more than one day the projects would get more complex and interesting. Great deal for a four-​hour creative camp.
I can’t wait for my next visit to create more custom, special pieces. I highly recommend for anyone 4+, both male and female.

This place is pretty rad, yes, even for dudes. I made a sweet Native American style Chan Lu which is a weaved wrap around beaded bracelet that the staff helped me to learn. It rocks, the staff is awesome. Go there for sure.

The best place for beads, fun and meeting great people. The owner is a pleasure and extremely helpful, and the staff loves to assist in any way. Had an adult party there and my friends are still talking about it. This is the place to take a class and learn new techniques to increase your stock of hand-​crafted jewelry! Bazaar Star Beadery is the best!

Still the best bead shop Ive found of anywhere Ive been. Always new and unique beads.

I remember when this bead shop first opened, it was truly a great place filled in every corner with thousands of standard and unique products. While the former still stands… two things I experienced on a recent visit were extremely disappointing.
The shop has small hand-​written notes ALL OVER stating «Stealing is bad Karma» with one or two «We are watching you» slipped in. Either rely on good security cameras to do the job or not. But the notes have got to be minimized.
Second, the owners option to employ little girls with minimal client service training can only hurt business. I went there looking for a single unique piece for my project. I was approached 4 times by sales help:
1. «Take a tray for your shopping» (My response was to thank them, let them know I had been coming here for years and was only looking for one item)
2.“You need to put your beads in a tray” (I had no beads in my hands and I explained I knew how it work)
3. «can I help you find something? «You might want to take a tray»
4. «if you plan to buy ANYTHING you’re going to have to put it in a tray»
At which point I left. I am in my 40’s I had only my car keys and a slim wallet — no pockets with which to steal ANYTHING. Next time I will travel further to shop.
They have a some nice stuff but exploring the shop for the perfect piece or inspiration is no longer a service they offer.

Beautiful beads. Good service, although seemed preoccupied with hosting the birthday beading parties for little girls in fur coats and juicy couture strollers. Expensive though. If you can go into the city just buy yours there to save money.

I had a very bad experience, i took a turquoise pendant to the owner and on her recommendation bought the chain for it. it cost me $ 32.00 for a 24 inch chain, my daughter bought a bracelet too. The same day the chain kept breaking with the weight of the pendant, the links were not tight. I went to her the next day and informed her, her whole demeanor changed, she kept taking other customers before me. i waited, and then when she finally attended to me, she outright refused to do anything-​Nothing!!! she refused to exchange it, replace it or even fix it… and just asked me to leave.
I got very upset and told her that she had lost a customer over this. nothing fazed her. I would have been OK if she had simply tried to be nice and found a way to help me. it was her rude attitude…
Since there is nothing else i could do, at-​least i can make you aware.
In todays economy, Store owners should really be thankful and appreciate the business they are getting instead of being RUDE.

Finding Bazaar Star Beadery while visiting Ridgewood made my heart sing! Unfortunately, independently owned bead shops are being driven out of business by the larger craft stores who certainly offer less knowledge and passion than a beloved small business. And this shop has it all!
Not only do they sell almost any type of bead one can imagine but they hold parties there, offer classes and have stations so one may sit down and create on site. The shop is whimsically decorated with creativity, color, happiness and good energy. I need beads like I need another Persian kitty… LOL! If you are a beader, or just want to look like one, BSB-​go there!
And one more thing, it is impossible to take a bad picture in this place-​very photogenic! :))) You cannot go wrong with all the above plus a healthy nod to Buddha!
