The plejskavica is awesome every time. Highly recommend it. The baklava, different from the Turkish style, but that does not make any less tasty/desirable.

I’ve only been here once, because I moved out of the neighborhood and it’s quite a trek now. I’d go back next time I’m in Ridgewood though. I’m no expert on Balkan food, but the food here is good and reminded me of my trip to Sarajevo– it’s typical street food(the thing I had anyway, which was several pieces of a salty/spicy sausage on pita with lettuce, tomato, and sauce). The place is small but they have a table or two inside. It’s right under the Forest Ave stop on the M line.

A Bosna Burger is the best if you’re looking for an express taste test. Giant patties, round and delicious. Subtle spices to fulfill your wishes. Authentic hole-in-the-wall. Bench outside. Try it out and take your tongue for a ride.

My husband hails from Bosnia and had been fervently looking for restaurants that serves his cuisine, which is hard to find in large numbers. Bosna Express is a true hidden gem and my husband informs that this is the most delicious Bosnian restaurant he has been to on this side of the world. The Pljeskavica is delicious and a nice large portion. When my husband is missing home, we will head over to Bosna Express for this tasty Bosnian burger. This is a cash only place and there isn’t really a place to sit and eat save for about 4 – 6 bar stools along the wall. We have had to eat out on the trunk of our car on occasion, but the food is worth it!

I’m not much of a burger guy, but this place is good! Unlike American style burgers, the ones here are really thin and flat and could be chopped in slices like a pizza. Personally I love how I can finally fit the entire burger inside my mouth when taking a bite and not have toppings all over my face, like with most US burgers. It’s official, we Slavs do it better. The burger was a bit pricy, but it’s kinda massive, easily the size of two meals. Also the service was very friendly, which always gets points for me. Not sure if it’s a destination for non-foodies, but if you love burgers, I recommend you get your butt on the M

Went and had the plekavica for the first time today. It was big, stuffed very well with lettuce and tomatoes and the cook was quick to prep it but I felt that it was missing certain ingredients and the taste was a bit off. The price was not $ 7 as advertised here, but $ 11. I don’t think it was worth the $ 11.

It took quite some time to cross this place off the list, as my will to head down the M train to the penultimate stop is not very high. One Saturday, though, with the weather fair and the desire for any time of party low, I came over here. There’s no competition for the flat, spicy burgers of the Balkans in Brooklyn. The two other times I’ve had it were at an Albanian restaurant in the Bronx and then at a shack in Slovenia, where the meat inside was horse. Both of these wound up being better than Bosna Express, which I’m afraid using too many ordinary ingredients in the service of a sometimes ordinary dish. My advice is to throw out the lettuce and tomato, an American addition that adds neither flavor nor texture. Then ensure that there’s plenty of kajmak(a thick cream that’s like a cheese) and ajvar sauce. Keep the raw, sliced onions — these add necessary crunch. Ensure the bread is well-toasted along with the meat. This will ensure plenty of room to soak up the flavors inside the patty. Unless you are planning this to be the sole meal of the day, you can split the burger, which is called a pljeskavica on the menu and in the Balkans, with a friend. This is nice food, but if you have the patience to head to the Bronx, it can be better.

I have to agree with most reviewers this is a real gem and whole in the wall place, a type of place you visit to experience taste of Balkans. The place is tiny, the cook was attentive and very nice. Should’ve asked for more Ajvar on my pljeskavica but but that’s just my preference. I wish the place was closer to home, it took us some time to drive to it. However I will definitely come by again but next time will try ćevapi since their meat is very good. For the type of place this joint goes for I give them 5 stars. They deserve 5 stars in their category, not fancy, hole in the wall with awesome couple of ethnic dishes.

I don’t understand all the reviews about the burger. I thought it was flavorless and the meat was almost chewy like its bad quality. I was excited to go to Bosnian burger but not sure I’ll go back. Very disappointed.

The burger was phenomenal… being perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and just satisfies that crave. These were awesome when I was sober, but I bet they will be like fillet Mignon after a few beers. :D I would definitely come back here.

Interesting little hole in the wall. The Bosnian burger is quite tasty, it was good– not good enough to trek from Sunnyside into Ridgewood but good enough to stop and have a bite if you’re already here.

Not sure what everyone was raving about. Maybe these burgers were great once, but I showed up for lunch this week for the first time, and my mouth was bored by blandness. The burger is a large flat patty between two pitas. The meat was ok, if not super-juicy, and the pitas were good. Maybe there would have been some flavor had the guy added more of the ajvar and cream than the bare minimum to tell it’s in the burger. If you’re craving a burger nearby, Amun is way better.

The lamb/burger super flat patty between pita bread was pretty good for being boring. Didn’t leave the best taste in my mouth after putting down $ 9 + tip. Not worth it and wouldn’t recommend this place. It’s no bigger that 100sq feet including the kitchen, which was the most charming thing about this place. You, as the customer, can do way better in this neighborhood.

Located right underneath the Forest Avenue M-Train stop, Bosna Express is a hidden gem. A hole in the wall, and that’s being generous. Order the Pljeskavica, which is the Bosna burger with the works. It’s enough for two people to share and will leave you feeling full and satisfied. Good burger, not adorned with much spice, but still pretty good. I love how flat and light it is. As other people have mentioned, the dude working here is not Croatian/Serbian/Bosnian or any type of European, but he is pretty nice and put up with all of our questions about the cuisine to the best of his ability. If you live in the area, this is definitely a place to add to your checklist.

I must say the Pljeskavica is quite good here, there must been a good a good mix of some lamb in with the beef patty– the ajvar tasted like a tinned product, however didn’t detract too much from the well cooked meat and toasted pita. I’d say $ 9 is a bit expensive for the neighborhood… and the guy at the counter gave me trouble trying to give him a $ 10 bill that had a tiny tear in the corner. The verdict overall: Juicy, meaty and had fresh produce so I’m pretty happy

As an ex-pat, Its hard to find good Cevapi in Rego Park. I just happened to be in Ridgewood, doing some ethnic food shopping, and I found this little discreet storefront. I must admit that it intrigued me, as I usually get my Cevapi/Pljeskavica fill in Astoria after work. As I entered, I gave a welcoming«Zdravo», only to find the Mexican guy looking at me funny. I guess he didn’t speak Croatian/Serbian. So, after a brief, awkward moment, I went with the large order of Cevapi to go, with onions, and a side order of Kajmac(a funky, creamy cheese topping). Trust me, always get the Kajmac to go, at any place that you are taking the order to go. The portion is huge, 10 thick, pinky sized pieces of nicely grilled lamb/beef. The flatbread is slightly reminiscent of the one back home, but someone here needs to season the meat. Other than the fact that the meat was juicy in the inside, it was bland. Where’s the salt and pepper. Back home, the first items on the dinner table was the salt and pepper, then everything else. I guess if you a townie, this is a good place to come to, but I think that I will continue to satisfy my craving for home food in Astoria.

A tiny place that only has a couple of chairs. Of course we got the Pljekavica, or Bosnian Burger, with everything. Everything includes lettuce, tomato, red pepper sauce and chopped onion. The patty itself is the size of a dinner plate, but flattened out thin with a blend of lamb and beef. The pita that the burger is served in is light and delicious. The burger itself screams for some salt and pepper, it seemed a bit on the bland side. You definitely need all the toppings for some flavor. All in all in was a good burger experience, maybe next time I’ll smuggle in some salt and pepper.
