Great bar, don’t change a thing. To the sissies complaining about the décor, I suggest you go next door to Whole Foods, get a kale salad, and go home and watch HGTV in your Snuggies.

We love a good Irish pub. That said, this place needs a serious makeover. The place is filthy. The stairs and hallway to the bathroom is disgusting. Made me nervous about what was about to be sent to our table. Food was fine, but until they clean this place up, we won’t come back.

Service was good but the food was not great. Burger had no flavor and was way to raw even for me. Desert was eh. Definitely a lot of other choices to chose from in ridge wood other than there

This is a neighborhood pub, so if you’re looking for top notch food move along. They pour a good guinness, keep your drink filled and do it w a smile.

I have been going there for years and always have a great time and great food. Love sitting outside. Service is excellent.

Wow, what a real piece of shit. The manager of this establishment doesn’t seem to live on this planet. Perhaps she has been breathing in the mold of this establishment for too long, I’m not sure but regardless, she’s fucked. The place feels damp and disgusting, and you really don’t want to touch anything. When you do accidentally touch something, it’s sticky, doesn’t matter where or what you touch, it’s sticky. I nearly vomited at the condition of the bathroom. The blonde bartender was downright rude and seemed far more concern with flirting with and supplying free drinks to every guy in the place around her age. I went upstairs to check out the second floor and hopefully escape the smell of the first floor and walked in on some kids doing drugs off the table. I don’t even think they were 21. I don’t know how this shithole exists in such a beautiful town. I guess even Ridgewood needs it’s hole in the wall for the town drunks. Someone should seriously burn this place to the ground.

What a dump! The manager is the worst! A real nut job. No wonder this place is going downhill fast. There are a ton of places in Ridgewood to enjoy a drink and this makes the bottom of the list.

I went here to just kill time, cause my friends car broke down. I ordered a soda and never got my change! The guy told me he put it on the counter. I walked away for 2 seconds! I also ordered a kids size burger at 6:50 pm. Still no burger out at 740 pm!!! I said something and got one measly apology from some young girl. I left. Your place sucks. I hope you go out of business. You have liars working there who steal money and lazy people. How are u going to make someone wait so damn long for one little burger? Shame on you!

They run unauthorized charges on your card… And when you call to speak to them about it they tell you that it’s not their problem it’s between you and your bank now. Proceed with caution!

Extremely rude staff, terrible business sense and out dated decrepit facility. The food is mediocre and over priced. Every dish and mixed drink I’ve had I have also had somewhere else nearby for less money and much better portion size and quality. It must b violating several health codes based on the kitchen and restrooms. The Stall door in the men’s room doesn’t lock and the chef is disgusting has really long gray hair that Ive found in my food. Can’t tell if it’s from his beard or his scalp or somewhere else. They served us undercooked wings then instead of replacing them they simply re fried the old ones and brought them back on the same plate with the uncooked chicken bacteria still on it. They don’t give free refills on soft drinks and the water comes straight out of the sink. Then after all this they have the nerve to add a 20% tip onto the tab. 15 or 17 if it’s a really busy night is ok but 20% is ridiculous I would recommend you find somewhere else to eat this business is horrible. If I could give this place less than 1 star I would.

If the smell isn’t enough of a clue, then MacMurphy’s is the place for you. Someone please buy this place out and start over.

Went last night to this establishment. I ordered the fish and chips, and I can honestly say I have never had fish and chips that didn’t come with a light batter. Instead they use bread crumbs as the«batter.» Wife orderd a cheesteak that cost 11.95. Really for a cheesteak. Waitress was hard to find even though we were the only table inside. I realize ridgewood is filled with over priced places but this place was a joke. Awful service, bad food, and over priced to boot.

I have been to MacMurphy’s about once a year for the past 3 – 4 years. The only times I’ve been here were after a nice BYOB dinner in Ridgewood, while waiting for the train home we would come in for darts. My most recent trip was on a Sunday afternoon, and I had about an hour wait for the next train back to JC. I came into the bar, and found what seemed to be a group of locals. I sat at the bar and was happy to see an NFL Sunday drink and food special menu. $ 2.75 domestic bottles, $ 4 domestic drafts, and $ 6 shot and draft beer. I went for the $ 6 Bud Lite draft and«house» whiskey shot, which I was pleasantly surprised when the bartender poured me Jack Daniels. I had eaten earlier, so I was not ordering food but there were NFL specials on wings, chile cheese fries, nachos, sliders, and hot dogs all for cheap. I enjoyed my draft and shot, and headed out but next time, I would definitely consider hanging for another hour and trying some of the food. My previous visits were all late at night, so I always had the idea this place was super dark, but it was a nice change to see some daylight inside. Definitely worth checking out before you take the train from Ridgewood, as it is literally 300ft from the platform.

Cool Irish pub this place probably been here for awhile. The building outside looks like early 1900 and the décor inside have some really pictures hanging on the wall. Ordered a ground sirloin with mashed potatoes and is tasted pretty good with the Brooklyn Ale beer. Service is excellent here.

I worry about the cleanliness of this place for a few reasons: 1. The water tastes disgusting. I asked for a glass of water with my food and it tasted like dirty taps. 2. The downstairs area, where the bathrooms are, reeks with a pungent odor. The bathroom itself was clean, but the hallway getting there and whatever else is down there, is a stinking mess. Otherwise, it’s a divey Irish pub with a bar in a room to the right of the entrance and a restaurant with tables in a room to the left. There is also another room with tables upstairs. It’s a dark, wooden, comfy décor. Came here about 9pm on a Friday night. The crowd was older. Seemed to be mostly locals. No seats at the bar so we grabbed a table in the other room. I ordered sweet potato fries which were really greasy and nothing special. The drinks were cheap. On a positive note, the total bill for our table — 4 drinks and fries — was less than $ 25.

Great little pub right by the train! Nice little spot to catch a buzz before ya head into the city or when ya get back and youve been huffing glue the whole train ride home! Quaint and has an Irish feel to it. Mostly working class folks in here which I like. No fu-fu drinks and stuck up people here. Just some Guinness, whiskey and people who will actually strike up a conversation with a stranger instead of playing on their Iphone. They have a dartboard in the bar area so ya dont feel out of the party if ya wana play. Plenty of parking out back… spots in front are meetered. Bathrooms are a ways down and have a nice«aroma»…after a few this can get a bit hazardous! Check this spot out for sure. There are a bunch of cool, corner type places in Bergen Co… but getting few and far between! Fuhgeddaboudit…

So far the nachos for an appetizer are a disappointment. Cold and filled with water for some reason? chips are store brand chips. So we just got the fish n chips and it was ok. For a bar that has all of the décor of a true Irish pub the fish n chips were par. Pieces were small and fish was a little rubbery. Chips were great but the portions we so small. A little disappointed over all. Maybe we will try a burger next time. Or just go somewhere else. The plus side was the side salad. It was amazing. Nice job on the salad. What’s with the Italian dishes on the menu?

My first and last Mac Murphy’s experience. The place has a solid Irish restaurant feeling and the ambience is nice. The food was not so great. We ordered nachos — ugh! They were the little round nacho chips covered with cold cheese, freezing cold lettuce and salsa. The sour cream was like a block of cement. Do not get those. We also ordered fish and chips considering it is an Irish pub. The fish was overly fried and over cooked. The fries were hot and well done like we asked. Overall, I will not be returning. I’m not a meat-eater but I have heard that the hamburgers are great, so if you come here order one.

Want a casual dive bar in Ridgewood? Well then look no further! Cute little place that’s filled with a few locals during the day and early evening. Nice place to grab a drink with friends after work. The food isn’t horrible but I honestly don’t remember anything I’ve ever ordered there so not too memorable. Prices are definitely cheap so if you’re looking for a deal in this town, ta da! The only thing that grosses me out is the bathrooms and the whole downstairs area. Rubber bar mats on the floor probably haven’t been picked up and mopped under in years… It smells like cat piss and urinals, and they have those reusable towel things in the bathrooms. Meh. The yougn’s attack the place at night so time your visit carefully depending on if you want to see them or not.
