Ridgewood Public Libary

The NY public library on 5^th Avenue this ‘aint, but for what it is – this is grand!
Plenty of stuff for everyone — even computer terminals — if so inclined. But there is something about the feel, smell and heft of a book that makes me want to read it – I never could get used to the electronic versions.
Our 8 year old takes me here every week to re-​up on books — for both of us. We make sure to ask staff about their collection and our needs — they are pleasant and knowledgeable and aim to please — and get us sorted quickly and efficiently. I especially like the email reminders about due dates — whatnot.
Overall, this place strikes a perfect balance between the analog and digital worlds and in that respect, it appeals to my sensibility. Plus — I really like the coffee bar on the lower level. When my caffeine level drops to the point in late afternoon where my eyelids stop twitching, it helps right my boat!

Very helpful staff and a nice library. A lot of study areas and overall a nice place. Wish it was closer into town but otherwise, it’s an excellent library.
Just as with the rest of the BCCLS, they work with the rest of the libraries in the area so if you can’t find something here, they’ll get it for you from the other locations. A lot of kids here usually and some neat special events (though I haven’t been to one.

Huge library with a great selection of books. I’m actually not from Ridgewood, but I frequent this library because it’s superior to the one in my town. There is a café here as well, so if you need to stay for long periods for a study session, you don’t need to leave the library for your caffeine fix. There are plenty of tables and study areas. There is also a pretty decent DVD selection. As the reviewer below also mentioned, if there is a book that you cannot find in this library, you can order through the Bergen County library system online (BCCLS), and another library in the county that has the item available will deliver the book/​dvd/​videogame/​cd right to the Ridgewood library for you to pick up.

Ridgewood’s library is a top 10 member of the Bergen County Library System here in northern NJ. You can find almost everything (or order it from the county system). The staff is helpful and they serve all ages and types of readers including graphic novels, young adult and us ‘aged’ readers of traditional books and listeners of CDs. It is open most Sunday’s and 2 – 3 nights a week. The main downside is parking since you are competing with the athletic field hordes.
