Great food, awesome pizza!!! Super friendly staff. I go with my friends for lunch and the waiter always remembers our drink order before we even say anything! Super personable and such a nice experience!

I have been to this restaurant several times and have had a wonderful experience every time. The food is delicious. The ingredients are high in quality and fresh. The chef is amazing. The shrimp appetizer and the sushi di Parma are sooo good!!! The pizza is perfection. Never had a bad meal. The service is good too. It’s a small place so sometimes it gets crazy but I never felt rushed. I understand that people are waiting to sit so I am not lingering either. There is one waiter that is always there. Not sure of his name but he always remembers us and is kind and attentive. I will be back! Great place in ridgewood!

Drove here from about half an hour away on Sunday arrived around 730 and it was closed… The Unilocal hours, the website, and the sign on the door clearly states he closes at 8PM. No special note about the closing was left on the door and no message left on their phone

*BYOB* S. Egidio is a nice change of pace for downtown Ridgewood. I came by with my wife and mother-in-law for dinner recently, as my in-laws live in Ridgewood. As soon as you walk in, you feel more of an urban/Hoboken vibe, which has its ups and downs. You feel great inside, but at times, it can be a little loud. The pies here are pretty good, and I immediately went to comparing them to another Ridgewood favorite — Amano’s. While S. Egiodio’s had a good pie(I got the white pie with no sauce and all cheeses — forgot the name), I still think I’d go for Amano’s over it! Egidio had good service(waiter was very prompt), a water CARAFFE(instead of filling glasses up over and over again — practical plus), and decent prices. Would I come here again? Probably go to Amano’s instead.

I loved the food, but hated being rushed out. I was sitting with a bottle of wine with my wife and the bus boy(not even our waiter) came by every 5 minutes to ask if we were finished with our $ 25 dollar cheese plate. Then while our pizzas came he proceeded to do the same thing. The food itself is phenomenal. Awesome sitting outside in Ridgewood on a beautiful night with a bottle of wine. The dude trying to take the food off our table as we’re eating it was lame though. Very awkward to keep having to say«no we’re still working on it» after the(literal) 4th time this bozo bus boy asked, «are you guys finished/stilled working on that cheese plate?» I never write reviews but felt compelled to write this one because it was such an awkward and weird experience.

Went here for lunch. It’s a beautiful town and the restaurant and service was great. The macchiato was really good. They prepared it really fast. I also got the margarita pizza for $ 13. It was a great pizza. My only issue is that the restaurant is very small. I can see that for dinner time it could get extremely packed. Other than that it was great experience.

I’ve been to S. Egidio on many occasions and have never been disappointed. It has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Ridgewood with their fresh ingredients and lively atmosphere. Although, be warned you will sit very close to other restaurant goers. This for me is a positive because I love interacting with other people and it adds to the old world Italian flare of the restaurant. Nothing screams Italy more than having a big meal with friends over a bottle of wine. FOOD: You really can’t go wrong with anything on this menu. For two people I would recommend an appetizer and two pizzas. I always like to try a new appetizer(especially if they are offering a special for the night) with my favorite so far being the burrata. Even if you’ve tried prosciutto and haven’t been a fan, give it another go. Fresh prosciutto like this is hard to find and completely makes the dish. Simple, fresh ingredients have a chance to shine in this meal and are able to hold their own. If you prefer salad I would go with the Rucolina as that has been my favorite so far. Light and fresh, it’s a great start to your meal and cleanses your palate. The two pizzas I go for consistently are the Fiamma and Carciofotta. In the Fiamma the sweet of the honey and spicy from the soppresatta work absolutely perfect together as an unlikely duo. I wish I could tell you what is in the Carciofotta but it is amazing. The shaved black truffle on the top shockingly makes the pizza and it is unlike anything I’ve had before. SERVICE: I go back and forth with the service here. Honestly, they could ignore me for an hour and I would probably still come back because the food is so darn good. That being said, the restaurant is always very busy and you can tell based on the managers flustered face. But, he is always very kind and the other staff is very attentive about removing plates. AMBIANCE: Dimly lit, loud music(seemingly out of place for the small Italian restaurant), and cramped. They’re doing the best with the space they’ve got. My recommendation would be to sit outside if possible. If presented the opportunity I like sitting at the the three seats by the wood fired oven where all the magic happens. There, you really can appreciate the quality of the meats and products that go into the dishes.

My favorite place ever in Ridgewood! The food is terrific, I’ve loved absolutely every pizza I’ve tried and of course the Nutella calzone dessert is to die for(a tip is to eat it quickly because it’s not as good when it’s cooled down). I enjoy bringing friends here because it does feel a little bit more special than the other restaurants in town and everyone has loved it as well. Just a heads up, it’s very small and cozy so be prepared for being almost on top of the table next to you but I adore the whole atmosphere and ambience of this place so I actually don’t mind it while elsewhere it would probably bother me.

The food gets 5 stars!!! the atmosphere is also great as well but I couldn’t give the full five stars because of how tight the place is. I normally love busy places for a night out and I was still able to enjoy myself 100% but it is just a little TOO tight. The staff does help seat you and pull out the chair you’ll wiggle in to sit at right next to another couple, which again, I don’t mind but you can feel the cramped-ness, that is until you get your amazing food! The pizza was outrageously delicious! The crust had that perfect crispy bite to the outside while the inside, although soft and moist not doughy(which I find is difficult to do with this style Neapolitan pizza these days). They go above and beyond with their ingredients as well. Their prosciutto was decadent and their artichokes and olives were nothing short of 5 star quality(not that garbage canned crap you get now-a-days). BYOB which is a huge plus. The service was good, nothing outrageous. I don’t hesitate to make this my go-to pizza place. They make their food with love and highest quality ingredients for sure. Anyway, I understand why people go here regardless of the tight atmosphere, there food is done RIGHT which is reason why I will be back as well!

Hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had. Opens at 5pm for dinner. Come early as its small and doesn’t take reservations(I don’t even think they have a phone!). Outdoor seating which is awesome on a gorgeous day like today. Wonderful salads and homemade pastas. Would drive 20 minutes for this no question.

Visited for the first time a few weeks ago but haven’t had the chance to review. It’s easy enough to say that this is probably the best pizza I have ever had and leave it at that. Additionally, it’s a cute little restaurant with a great atmosphere, BYOB and friendly service. Top notch!

You will hate this place if: you are cheap You are close minded You don’t appreciate genuine Italian food You think you know better than the chef You’re unwilling to try new things You’re a tool You will love this place if: You’re human. You breathe oxygen You need food to survive You enjoy delicious food You understand the balance of delicious and nutritious.

I came here on a Saturday afternoon and was seated right away. I love the décor of this place it’s very rustic. We ordered the homemade mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto cooked in the oven. This was delicious and tasty. Main course I order a white pie with sausage, cherry tomatoes and arugula. I thought the pie was good but not great. I really loved the dough more than anything but was not crazy about the actual pie. My husband had the special which was the white pie with eggs, bacon and mushrooms. He thought this pie was good but again nothing great. The ingredients are all super fresh so I can’t really put my finger as to why I do not love their pies as much. Overall I would say this is good spot for ridgewood with good service.

Many, many visits here over last year and it remains excellent in many ways. Downgrade to 4 stars from 5 however. New pasta additions to menu are very nice addition however outlandish pricing is off putting especially so where all you get for 22 to 26 bucks is a medium size plate of pasta and zilch else. Mediocre to poor non house desserts also a downer in this BYOB. Pizza also on the high side. Still excellent but prices like this make me wait for visits to the City.

Not a fan. Went once, that was enough. Too crowded, too tight seating. I felt like I was a part of every private conversation. Crammed up against the wall. Guy next to me almost knocked me out trying to take his jacket off. Tried a little bit of everything. It was just good. I can get that elsewhere with a better experience I know everyone loves this place but between above and horrible parking I would just rather go elsewhere

Since I’ve been living at school, I haven’t been in Ridgewood in months so I had no idea this place existed. I was parking to go to my usual sushi joint, and stumbled upon this restaurant! My boyfriend and I thought it looked WAY too good to not give it try, and quickly ditched the sushi plan. My initial thought was: FINALLYYY. Ridgewood was in desperate need of a modern restaurant like this. The best way to describe the look and feel is «hipster Italian». I know that’s an odd description, but it’s so true. And I loved it! Plus, it’s BYOB. One of my favorite features is the freshness of the ingredients. There is an open kitchen, which allows you to see the dough being made right next to you. And they even make their own homemade mozzarella! Where S. Egidio fell short, was the service. Although the staff was extremely sweet, and you could actually see a great team dynamic between all of them, they were just slow. It seemed like they got wrapped up in conversations with other staff members, which lead customers to suffer. On the bright side, the staff was so nice that it was easier to overlook their poor service. The dough: AHHHMAZING. I ordered the triolo(mozzarella, prosciutto, hazelnuts, a drizzle of honey) based on a recommendation from our server– YUM. My boyfriend ordered a pizza with mozzarella, tomato sauce, and basil(can’t remember the name), but the two of us weren’t fans of his. The sauce was a tad bit watery and bland. However, the dough was so good that we still enjoyed both pizzas. We really hope the chefs consider putting more«seasoning love» into their pizzas in the future to get to a 5 star mark! I’ll 100% be back to S. Egidio. I definitely recommend it if you’re in the Bergen Country Area, but call in advance because space is limited.

Good things first; their mozzarella is amazing, it has really enjoyable feeling when it melts in your mouth. the dough was very good too. their prosciutto was freshly cut and tasty. I ordered just a plate of prosciutto and ate it all almost by myself. no doubt that i had one of my best pizza experience here. BUT, i think, it was overpriced pizza, with a stupid waiting line, while bringing your wine with your self. hey dude, a restaurant shouldn’t be BYOB. especially a pizza shop, no matter how fancy you think you are. we ordered 3 different pizzas, 1 of them was really good, 1 was ok, and 1 was boah. on the boah pizza, olives was too salty that you couldn’t taste anything else and had not enough prosciutto on it, but, the really good one was piece of enjoyment in your mouth. It was mainly cheese and garlic. the other technical issue with these pizza was the dough was sort of soaked, especially on the pizza that i didn’t like the most. I may go there for that cheese pizza again.

had never been here before, due to it not being here on Monday. After hearing so many glowing reviews, I decided to stop by for lunch with one other. We ordered a bit too much food for lunch but oh it was so good. Not many people here. Friendly good service as well. I ordered the Margherita pizza with mushrooms and she got a mozzarella sandwich. The pizza was quite huge but it was good enough that I well finished it. Very fresh. Great cheese and a terrific crust. Probably the first Neapolitan style pizza I have had that I liked due to freshness. The mushroom topping was worth it. Instead of those little mushrooms you usually get on a NJ/NY slice(which are still good,) you get large oh so delicious pieces of forest mushrooms. The mozzarella sandwich was very good as well but not as much as the pizza. Still very solid with excellent focaccia. Excellent place. The glowing reviews should keep on coming as this place deserves them. Please open on Mondays.

DUDEEEEEEE… A Mano’s is lucky to have their BOGO Free Pizza pie night on Mondays and Tuesdays, otherwise, you’d straight up bankrupt them! Though I think A Mano’s has better prosciutto(though it’s fun to watch the guys slice up the meat with a mechanical wheel at S. Egidio) and signature pie(A Mano Special), this place is, without a doubt, the best pizzeria in town. Why? They offer better pies overall, and their regular margherita is SO much better. MUCH better service. And they also have better food offerings, even their calamari starter. So worth the money. Additionally, bomb music to complement the meal. The music can get a little loud at times, but it makes me forget that I am actually enjoying this meal in Ridgewood… as it gives me the city vibe.

Authentic Neopolitan style pizza, BYO and a great atmosphere! What more could you ask for? The chef manning the oven, making these pies of heaven is from Naples and many of ingredients are imported from Italy. The combinations of ingredients put together by chef Curci are what really make this place stand out from all the rest. My family and I(4 people total), shared 3 pizzas: Fiamma: San Marzano tomatoes, homemade Fior di latte, ‘Nduja, spicy Soppressata and chile infused honey Toscana: San Marzano tomatoes, homemade Fior di latte, sausage, mushroom, Pecorino and finished with homemade Pesto Carciofotta: Artichoke spread, homemade Fior di latte, Pancetta, fresh egg, shaved Black Truffles and Grana They were all so good. The combination of spicy and sweet in the Fiamma makes this pie one of the house favorites. The pesto on the Toscana was so good, but I wish there was more! When I bit into the Carciofotta I was very pleasantly surprised by the pungent flavors. It was so hard to pick a favorite so I just won’t until I go back and try some others :) My parents are espresso snobs so, when they saw it was also an imported item they said they must also have a Macchiato to finish off the meal. It is was perfectly crafted to include just the right amount of steamed milk, which is the difficulty many restaurants face. My mom said it reminded her of Europe so I know it’s some of the best we’ve had.
