B&R Farms is the ideal place to go in northern Schuylkill County for seasonal produce — most famous for their strawberry patch in June. My mom and I made it a personal tradition since I was in high school to frequent a few times a month for their sweet and juicy strawberries. Bring your own strainer, container, or drop a buck for their own charming bucket as a collective reminder of summer. You can pick your own which is always a fun parent-​child activity on the cheap or you can buy what they picked for you. If you are a gardener, there’s a greenhouse at the farm with various florals and herbs to get your thumb green. Friendly and helpful staff on site or nearby.
Two buckets of strawberries cost just under $ 12 for the sweetest and juiciest strawberries. Now the challenge: Arriving home with a full bucket that you left the farm with!
It’s nice to know this coal region summer memory has been here all of these years which makes each and every visit into my adulthood a pleasant one — and in this area that’s rare to say!
