WAYTOLOUD! There is a playground in the library… a play ground… last time I checked playgrounds were kept outside because of shrieking children. I could not focus on finding the books I came in for and I had a hard time pretending that the shrills from the kids section weren’t driving me crazy. If this library wasn’t so freaking LOUD, I would love it. They have a wonderful clean selection. If I can’t find something the staff is on it. The modern architecture and beautiful pure New Mexican scenery is refreshing and stunning.

Many resources for adults and kids. Great books — friendly Staff. Clean bathrooms — good lighting — temperature is comfortable. Efficient to check in/out items.

This is a really nice library on the north side of town. They have a nice selection of DVD’s which is my main reason for going there instead of having them delivered to the closer branch to me. They have installed the automated check-in and check-out machines making the experience even quicker. My only complaint is when municipal buildings are built for aesthetic purposes instead of for efficiency. This building has an all-glass exterior, i.e. no insulation. Also, it is built twice as tall as useable space so there is a lot of space to heat and cool that is only there as someone thought that made the building more attractive. If a corporation wants to waste their money by bulding buildings with no insulation and wasted space, go for it, but when tax dollars are used to hire expensive architects to build inefficient buildings, to me, that is a shame. Now the library system is asking for a bond to buy books, computers, etc. I have never seen all the computers they already have in use and then they in hundreds of new items a week so I don’t see the problem. Just think of what they could buy each month with the wasted energy.

We love this place! So clean, a lot of choices(even for little ones), drive up book deposit, tons of parking and a lot of helpful staff. They have various computer labs, several special programs for all age groups, and lots of seating for those just wanting to read or those needing to get some work done. Even special kid friendly seating areas. This is where I come to work on my dissertation — it’s quiet, has speedy internet and pretty decent/long hours. I love it and my kids love it; totally win-win!

As if this place wasn’t awesome enough already they have made me fall in love with it even more. My little girl really loves toddler time every Tuesday and Thursday. This past Thursday before we headed out to toddler time, my two year old decided to tear up one of the books we had checked out the previous week. I for sure thought I was going to have to pay for it. Feeling very embarrassed I approached the desk with my wallet only to be told that even though there was no saving it, that since it was an older book it was ok and I didn’t have to pay for it. I’m sure this is not the case for everyone but I was lucky enough to be forgiven.

New library in Rio Rancho, and they allowed my family to plant a beautiful tree in my mom’s name out front. Friendly and helpful.
