This company handles boat maintenance, and boat captaining. My review covers both areas. The boat maintenance people are intelligent, nice, and good at what they do. They have 2 major drawbacks: 1) it takes forever to schedule them, and they are unreliable. The first time we contacted them, it took over a month to get them to come out. When they showed up, they did a great job! I figured the delay couldn’t be normal, and wrote it off as an anomaly. We contacted them again for another repair, and so far it has been over a month, and they haven’t addressed it, despite contacting them multiple times. During that waiting period, we had an urgent matter come up. They said they would handle it «next week». Next week came and went, no show, no call. I contacted them again, and he said he’s busy, and would call me right back to let me know when it would be scheduled. It’s been 4 days, no call. If they can’t make it, or don’t want to take the job, they should just say so and not leave people hanging. Their boat captain, Pat Carson, falls into the same category. I called, and left a message about needing a boat captain. It took him 5 days to return the call. When he did, he seemed like a good and competent guy. I inquired about his schedule, and he’s basically available only on leap years between midnight and 2am. I went with another captain, who eventually wound up moving to Mexico, so I contacted Pat again. Same drill, 5 days to reply, hardly available. We had difficulty connecting via phone, so I tried email. He suggested an appointment time and day. I accepted, and said I’d be there, ready to go, please confirm. No call, no email, no show. It may be that Bay Area Yachting Solutions has so much business that they can afford to be this flaky. Even so, there will eventually be competition. When word spreads, and business suffers, they’ll have to resort to acting in a more professional manner.
