I can’t even go into all of it, but trust me when I tell you, Ethan Allen is not the Ethan Allen of 30-plus years ago, the furniture is garbage and the designers are like used car salespeople with too much make up and a high-society complex. This place trades on Bergen County people who have more money than anything else, including brains, taste, individuality, and so on. The customer service is horrendous and I wasted a great deal of money here, so don’t say you weren’t warned.

DONOTBUY the leather from Ethan Allen. They show you beautiful samples in the showroom of top grain leather and deliver something different. The salespeople and customer are programmed at handling complaints and quick to say«it’s out of warranty»”!” Well I’ve never had any of my leather peel off a layer removing all color and grain. ITPEELED… Top grain leather doesn’t peel. This is not about warranty but about fraud. I am furious that this is the most expensive piece of furniture I’ve ever bought and its a piece of crap that I don’t even want to be in the same room with!!! STAYAWAY!!! They have improved margins by cutting on quality and they don’t stand by what they make… The make excuses!

I am only giving 1 star because I don’t know if I can give a zero. Entrapment describes this store. Once you order something, even if it is not a custom item, they will not let you cancel or change. The store manager was so rude. They have two personalities: pre sale and post sale. They become meanies once you pay and unhappy about the sale. I bought a desk but the sales girl told me that the system didn’t allow her to order the color I wanted. She said that it came in a single color. I made a huge mistake of ordering it in the color that I didn’t want. They told me that it would come in 2 – 3 months. One week later I called and said that I was unhappy with it and I want to cancel the order. Only then they told me that they HAD the color I wanted. The manager also told me that the furniture that would take 2 – 3 months to deliver was already delivered to the store so I had to pay restocking fee of 33%. I would have been happy if she apologized for the mistakes they made and meet me in half way. I would have gladly pay some restocking fee. But the sales girl was telling her a different story and she said it was«he said she said». Really? Is that something a store manager should say to a customer? One thing for sure, I will never buy another piece of furniture from them again. Go across the street to Stickly. They actually sell furniture made in the USA.

Not the same ethan allen 20 years ago. i know bcuz my parents bought all their furnitures from ethan allen when i was little. but don’t expect the same quality bcuz it ain’t the same ethan allen anymore. When my wooden console($ 1200) was delievered i knew right away something was up. it was covered with dust and just by looking at it i said to myself, this is a sh$%tty quality. I wasn’t surprised when my wife returned home and said the exact samething. This thing had a dent mark on each corner(looked like it happened at the manufacturing) which it was painted over. The doors on each side was uneven, one had a bigger gap on the bottom which you can only find those kind of quality in ikeas… maybe not even from ikeas. Found one big scratch on the surface. One of the drawer was uneven, one side just sticks out like its not closed properly(fitment issue). Also, one of the molding was a defect. The overall fit and finish is just ridiculous… as days went on it even made me laugh just by looking at it… anyway long story short, the repair guy showed up as promised and took some pictures and said that the following monday his manager would give me a call in regards to this matter. It has been 3 weeks and no call and i don’t plan to give them a call, my time is more precious than this cheap furniture. It seems like this is just one of their«cutting corners» tactic. If customers don’t seem desperate, don’t bother. I just bought bunch of furnitures from paramus area due to moving to a new house and my crate&barrel furnitures are awesome and has an exceptional fit and finish and my boconcept sofa and dining table is just perfect as you would expect from a premium furniture retailer. DON’T waste your time and money with ethan allen. You will not get your money’s worth. O by the way my designer/salesman(won’t say the name) was great. He was honest and very friendly but i was kind of dissapointed at the end he said«we are just a franchise store…» i guess that meant it’s my problem at this point on… cuz he didn’t follow up a bit with my repair or call me how this repair went. Let me tell ya, i can survive with this low quality furniture it’s not going to kill me(my wife will kill me though) but ethan allen will not survive with this cheap craftsmanship. They just lost one potential loyal customer because i am done with this brand. This is cheap brand. At similar price, Crate&Barrel(or pottery barn) is way better in terms of design and quality.

So, you’ve just bought a home and you want to ensure it will look exactly like every other suburban home in the world… look no further than Ethan Allen. What’s good, blood? They provide an interior decorator to come to your home and lay out your rooms how you should decorate them. The decorator will do as much detail as you would like, down to the window furnishings.(oh you heard dat right? dat mean curtains!!). Then when you meet with her again she’ll walk you through the pieces and how much everything costs. Once my wife woke me up with smelling salts we then told her which pieces we would want. They are VERY low pressure. They understand that we’re not all playing for the Yankees. What frosts your chaps? It’s pretty generic furniture. Which is not that bad a thing, since it will stand the test of time. And it’s slightly overpriced. I think you can go to a place that carries Broyhill and find very similar pieces at the same quality for less. All in all it’s an OK place to shop and this store in particular had a great interior decorator to work with.
