Eye Care of River Edge

My 5-​year old son had a book dropped on his eye — and — directly to the ER we went… the physician at HUMC wanted him seen by a specialist to confirm there would not be any permanent injury to his eye — and contacted Dr. Marta Ponce-​Contreras, at Eye Care of River Edge, for us. I cannot say enough about how wonderful she is! She took us in for an appointment directly after we were discharged from the ER. She is very calm, nurturing, and overall — wonderful with my son, who was beside himself in extreme pain, and, frankly — did not want to cooperate… she was patient, reassuring, and was able to inspect the damage to his cornea — a feat in itself! She was also quite reassuring to me, as I was very concerned about his potential vision loss & pain level. We were able to schedule a follow-​up visit (she happily squeezed us in to her schedule the following week) — and my husband was able to meet with Dr. Contreras then as well, and, he agreed — she is just an amazing person! My son was still in pain, trying to be his best for the follow-​up, and again — she was patient, kind, and understanding of the level of pain he was in. I highly recommend Dr. Contreras & her staff (who were also very concerned for my son & tried to make him as comfortable as possible!)
