Truly excellent empanadas and friendly place. We have been working on a Christmas simplification project and hit upon the idea of trying empanadas as one of our appetizers. We ordered a bunch of frozen mini-empanadas that we picked up(along with chimichurri sauce) on the 23rd. Tossed them into a 350 oven for about a half hour and they were a big hit with the whole family. Plan to do the same next year, Just a suggestion for all the rest of you!!!

If you think that these are the best empanadas then you are sorely mistaken. The empanadas here are just ok, but since Riverside lacks a variety of restaurants, people make this place out to be more than it really is. Also, their chimichurri sauce is way too oily and nowhere near what chimichurri sauce is supposed to taste like. If you are in Chicago and want to taste some GOOD empanadas, and I mean GOOOOOD, I suggest that you drop into El Ñandú, located 2731 W Fullerton Ave, Chicago, IL60647. Try their phenomenal empanadas and their out of this world chimichurri sauce and then tell me who has the best empanadas. If I’m wrong, please message me back here, but I highly doubt that you will disagree.

Really delicious empanadas. We are everyone’s new best guest, now that we bring them to all our parties. They are fresh, tasty and they will make up special orders for you if you call ahead.

Really good place. The empanadas were delicious! Definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes empanadas. The staff is very friendly too! I had the BBQ Pork and Pepperoni. Different and delicious.

What a tasty Unilocal find! I was driving through the area after a morning work event in Brookfield. This place had convenient parking in front and was a delightful and cute storefront shop. There were several versions of empanadas to choose from, and I got the DELICIOUS had and cheese and OK buffalo chicken. I will be back for sure to try more of the flavors!!!

Not fresh, full of more onions than anything else. Seemed like they were in the warmer too long. Buffalo chicken didn’t seem to have buffalo sauce, caprese tasted nothing like caprese. My friends liked the BBQ pork, so I guess go with that.

Best empanadas I’ve had in a long time. The range of fillings is mind boggling. We tried a couple of the vegetable ones and the pulled pork. We would have had many more but by the time we made it in here on a Sunday, they were pretty much cleared out. I’ll probably call ahead to place my order next time.

In a word — delicious!!! So glad we tried this place. Since it was our first time here, we purchased several different varieties. Favorites were the beef, chicken, sausage, and spinach empanadas. Also, the breakfast bacon & eggs empanada was yummy. And I agree with all the reviewers who love the chimichurri sauce — it’s amazing! They even sell it by the jar. Buy extra so you can put it on everything! The place is small — better for carry-outs. You get a lot for your money here — a real tasty bargain — I can’t wait to go back!

Fast, cheap, yummy. First experience was great, I think I’m just going to buy a bunch of frozen ones to keep on hand for when we can’t decide on dinner.

I love the small town of Riverside, My wife asked me to pickup empanadas from this small bakery that specializes in them. I was given strict instructions Not to eat any of them. So, I bought a dozen for the family and I ate 2 there. I guess she expected that. They are smallish but really good and filling. The great thing is that the dough is imprinted on the edge, indicating filling so no guesswork. I would say, if you are in the area, it is worth the trip. Remember to ask for the Chimichuri Sauce. They don’t automatically make you aware of it.

I don’t know much about empanadas, but I do know that these empanadas are excellent. I crave them. I could never say no to an an empanada from here, even if I’m already stuffed. I’ve depended on EmpanadUS for a quick and affordable lunch. For a mere $ 2.50 per empanada, you can really load up on a bunch of empanadas for a fairly cheap price. My favorites are probably the sausage one and the ham one, but you really can’t go wrong with any of them. I enjoy the vegetarian-friendly ones, too, in particular the corn, spinach, and onion ones. There are also a bunch of beverage options and, somewhat recently, they offer gelato, too. I haven’t tried that yet, so I’ll have to do that when it gets a little bit warmer out. There is some seating available – a few tables with two high chairs each. I wouldn’t count on there necessarily being somewhere to sit, especially during prime eating times, but it’s can be nice if you’re in the mood. Whenever I’ve been here, I typically choose to order to go. Also, my review would be remiss without adding that the customer service is really great. Everyone with whom I’ve interacted with has been really friendly and pleasant. I highly recommend this business to others regularly and I’m glad I can now also recommend EmpanadUS to the Unilocal community, as well.

Argentina great dish brought to Riverside. A small place with small empanadas but tasty and unique cuisine a welcome change to the usual Chinese and Mexican strip mall bore found throughout the area. They also have great gelato and this is a great place for locals and saw several kids scrounging their pockets for loose change for some of these great hot pockets

I ate at the Lagrange location. I ordered the beef and Ham and cheese empanada. This store has lots of variety of empanadas. They are reasonably priced. I love that they have chimichurri sauce. A little oily nevertheless it’s there. The crust is a little thin for me. Very clean. I had great service. The woman behind the counter was very kind. If you haven’t tried an emapanada now is the time!!! I love them and you will too. Vamos Argentina.

I consider myself an empanada expert considering my first empanada was bought on the streets of Peru in a market. If you don’t know what they are, they are breads stuffed with delicious fillings. Originally from Spain and Portugal, many Latin American countries have derived their own versions. These, I believe, are Argentinian style, which means they’re handheld. They’re actually super cute in that they have the type they are stamped into the crust. After my co-workers had brought in some to work a few days ago, I decided to make the trip over to the shop. Located in downtown Riverside, street parking is primarily what you’ll find. Which is fine because the shop is small, with just a few benches and tables, so you’re probably grabbing it for take out. I’ve heard their stock is quite depleted by dinner time so make sure to stop by earlier in the day. When I was there(about 11:30 on a Friday) they had already run out of tuna and caprese and didn’t seem to be making more. I ordered beef, BBQ pork, and onion but I’ve tried the chicken, spinach, bacon, sausage, ham & cheese, and Nutella and banana. Out of all the ones I’ve had, I’ve enjoyed the BBQ pork and the onion the most. The BBQ pork is excellently seasoned and the onion is stuffed with cheese which makes for a yummy combo. At $ 2.49 each, these empanadas make for an excellent and affordable meal. 3 empanadas will probably be enough for the average soul, although they’re good enough you could probably eat more in one sitting. Beware of the chimichurri sauce: it’s oil based and one drop of it could ruin your clothes.

Boss: «What should we have for lunch?» Me: «If your daughter is going to pick it up for us, what does she like?» Boss: «You know she has been having a craving for empanadas since she got home from school.» And so we decided on empanadUS for lunch. I had never had an empanada so I kept it safe by choosing chicken and caprese. The boss ordered beef and mushroom and her daughter picked out BBQ pork. The caprese was out of this world. It almost looked like a little pie, open-faced, begging to be eaten. Sadly, my chicken empanada stuck to the paper and fell apart way too easily. I was dropping chicken all over the floor. It was, however, incredibly flavorful and delicious. I had been fairly hesitant to order from here as the majority of the empanadas have onions of which I am not a fan; however, I barely noticed the onions. There wasn’t a hint of flavor and the texture was not bothersome within the confines of the empanada.

I really, really like this place. The fillings on these things are soooo good. I tried the mushroom empanada like everyone had suggested and it was delicious! Make sure you get the ajillo dip with them. The BBQ pork one was good too.

Just the fact that there exists a dedicated empanada shop in the burbs makes this a five star place for me, but I’m happy to report that it also involves amazing flavors and friendly service! I was thrilled with all the veggie options. Being a vegetarian can be pretty sad when it comes to Latin American food in the suburbs, but at empanadUS there’s as many veg items as meat items: caprese, spinach, mushroom, corn, onion, broccoli, and apple. I ordered the mushroom, corn, and spinach. They were all very good, but the flavor of the mushroom was by far the best. Pretty sure I could actually feel the endorphins shooting into my brain as I devoured it along with their excellent Chimichurri sauce. My partner heartily enjoyed the sausage and BBQ pork. Note: You get as much of the Chimichurri as you want when eating in, but when taking out, they only give you one cup of the stuff for every 3 empanadas. I found that I pretty much needed one cup per empanada, so we had to get a few extra at $.50 per cup. Can’t wait to return!

Tasty tastiness. Stopped in for lunch, decided not to eat in due to the fact that it was quite small and they had the door propped open despite that it was cold. There were also several non-customers hanging out but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that they would have moved if we’d decided to stay. Anyway, we took our empanadas home. When they were being put into the container I was a little concerned that I wouldn’t be able to easily identify my veggie empanadas from the meaty ones my husband ordered. However, the name is conveniently stamped into the crust for easy identification! I enjoyed the ones I had. I’m not sure that I was a bit fan of the chimichurri sauce, it was a bit oily though I really don’t know if that’s how it was supposed to be. We shall return.

My dad surprised us with a bunch of empanadas from here a few days ago. The mushroom and caprese empanadas knocked it out of the park. WOW! I can’t wait to come back again. And again. The flakiness of the crust and the savory, yet not overwhelming interior«guts» are the perfect amount of savory. Eating one of these between lunch and dinner as a snack to tide you over would be the absolute perfect time to go over to empanadUS for a taste bud party. Delish!
