Happened to see Ken’s Lock and Key when driving down Magnolia. I needed help opening some old suitcases. I thought I needed a key, but they figured out that it wasn’t locked. I was just not opening it the right way. Everyone was super nice and there was no charge. I would definitely recommend them to friends.

Just for keys or a door lock change request was a lot of bs. Just answer my question please! Didn’t like the service so just will judge them by the counter service. Do not recommend for anything but maybe getting a key made. Even that I’ll do that at a swap meet.

When I called yesterday, they quoted me a specific price and when they were done with the work, they charged me double! They need to verify and give you a price first before starting any work. The locksmith said I should’ve known the price since I used them 6 months ago. WTF… I had clients in front of me at the time and could not complain too much and just paid. Will never use them again.

They came out same day to rekey my mom’s house last year when I needed them quick. A little pricey but they came out and did the job fast. I recently went there to get a duplicate key made for a small lock and when I needed it corrected because it did not fit, they did it without charge.

Needed to get a copy of my key made. I called ahead and asked for pricing and was told(unenthusiastically) it would be around $ 2 to $ 10 depending on the type of key. I walked in and wasn’t really greeted for at least 3 – 4 minutes. I showed him my key and it was done in a matter of 30 seconds. It cost about $ 2+ tax. Love the price and the speed of service.

AVOIDTHISSHOPLIKETHEPLAGUE !!! Went in to get a copy made of a boat ignition key. This is the original key with the code on it, F2, Quicksilver. Guy takes a look at it and states I don’t have a blank for this. I see literally hundreds of blanks on the wall and ask if any of those can work, he gives me a smart ass answer of «I am not going to make a thousand keys to see if they work». Unbelievable ! I keep my cool as I only got one key with this boat I just bought, so I ask what can be done? The guy tells me to tear the ignition out of the boat and bring it to him so he can see what he can do… ya tear the ignition out… When I get home I hit Yahoo search and look up Quicksilver F2 and within 20 seconds find blanks for sale to make a copy of this key ! With the code for the blanks… — The guy did not know how to do this and he runs a lock shop? What was he going to do, experiment on my pulled ignition with blank after blank? I know, hard to believe, but true. I found ready made keys on Iboat and ordered from them. When I walked in they had an ad posted in the window for a «experienced locksmith» I sure hope they found one, because the moron who helped me could not be trusted to insert a key in a lock correctly, and he was an ass to boot. Ken’s is located on Magnolia near Tyler, directly across from the Riverside PD sub station… I needed to rekey my deadbolt lock for my house and Ken’s took care of it without any problem. Things I liked: They were quick(rekeyed the lock in minutes), had good value($ 12 for the new lock and 3 keys), the store was clean and organized, and the customer service was outstanding(though, I had little interaction with the employees). I will be using Ken’s for all of my future locksmith and safe needs.
