My family and I really enjoy eating at Long John Silvers. We used to eat at the one near our home in Texas very frequently. There was a location closer to us here in CA but it recently closed. This location isn’t too far so we will be eating here I hope at least monthly. The store was clean, the staff was very friendly and the food was fresh and very good just as we always remembered. They do offer chicken if you don’t like fish, but the fish they serve is not fishy at all !!!

Skimpy portions of fries and pretty much everything they sell. WAYYY overpriced. Never going back.

I love long John’s! The food is all always consistently hot and fresh! But the best part is the staff. I came in this afternoon with my developmentally delayed care home and the worker at the counter went out of her way to treat them with dignity and respect.(She even gave us a coupon book for next time) I think her name was Valerie. She is extremely personable and incredibly kind. She even explained what items we should get to make sure that everyone was well fed. So thank you so much LJS for hiring such polite staff.

I really wanted to eat shrimp today and decided to eat here. I ordered the 8 piece shrimp plate. It comes with two sides and hush puppies. The shrimp was crispy and they were pretty decent size. The two sides were corn and green beans. The corn was tasty and not too buttery. Also, the green beans were not soggy and I enjoyed them. Overall my experience was good, but the place needs to be a little more clean especially the seats.

Most likely, and before today, about fifteen years had passed since I’d last eaten at Long John Silver’s. On the east coast, I remember their being much more common, especially in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s – meanwhile, most of the people I’ve come to know out here were never familiar with them. I had specific memories of the flavor profile, and when I ordered a two piece fish combo(with fries and hushpuppies) this evening, I took them home to dine, and they didn’t disappoint. The fish is still a filet, not a stick, like most other places – and that makes a distinct difference in the texture and flavor. Their batter is as enjoyable and appropriately crispy as I remember – not over-fried, not mushy, but light and just right. The hush puppies were superb, and not overcooked and hard, as they normally are at local H Salt franchises. They, too, were the stuff of memories. It was as if I were in the ‘80s again, and it didn’t hurt that Starship’s «We Built This City» had been playing on their radio while I placed my order. I had been transported successfully, and that was exactly what I was hoping for. The fries were perfectly acceptable. They weren’t crunchy, but they were natural cut style, and most traditional fish & chips spots I’ve been to – like Camelot Fish & Chips, which is right outside of San Francisco – have similarly soft chips, too. That’s all right by me, as «cooked enough» is better than over– or under-cooked, and I personally prefer natural cut, regardless. As for the price, I found it acceptable. Under $ 8 for a combo of well-made fish, hush puppies, and entirely decent chips is a lot to ask for in today’s climate. If you wanted fish and chips practically anywhere else, you’d either be spending more at a sit-down restaurant, or going to H Salt, where everything is chopped and formed and all your condiments are nickle-and-dimed. Now, the ambiance? The building is an old Long John’s, and it shows. It has the old structure, and the bell by the door that you’re supposed to ring if you’ve had good service. Either you find that old and dirty, or aged and charming. I’m in the latter camp. For me, it was everything I wanted. A trip to the past, and good food at a good price. Five stars, without regret.

Is it me, or does everything in here taste exactly the same? It’s delicious but outside of texture… even the fries taste like a hushpuppy, taste like the fish, taste like the chicken strips… Same taste different texture. It’s a once every 18 month place for me.

I love seafood and if ypu want some good fried shrimp and fish, on a budget, LJS is great. The fried chicken is all white meat and juicy. I am never dissapointed. It is pricy for fast food but cheaper than a seafood restaurant. The service at this particular one is always polite and helpful.

This is the second time I came to a Long John Silvers. The first time was when I was little so I don’t remember much about it. Came here with my brother and lets just say its just ok. The place serves an older clientele. Nothing strikes me as great. Bought the sampler with fish, chicken, shrimp, fries, and cole slaw. Everything tasted the same. Probably fried in the same oil! If they could fry the cole slaw they probably would. Funny thing, I liked the cole slaw the best. Hush puppies were tasty. Oh well, I didn’t pay for it so it didn’t leave that bad of a feeling. Pretty much, its a poor man’s red lobster.

Great food! Always taste fresh and yummy! Great customer service, sometimes the drive thru line is long… Bc it’s a popular spot and the food is FRESHLY made, unlike McDonald’s next door.

Lots of employees — but the place is messy. I’ve been here many times and the place always needs a cleaning. Fried food makes for a greasy environment and constant cleaning is a must. This does not happen here. I’ve been here when every table is dirty and yet 3 employees are behind the counter — having a meeting. I like the food, I do not like the cleanliness of the establishment.

This is my first visit to this location. I used to come to Long John’s when they had a lot of locations. As with most places there are only a few left. I only decided to come to this one because it is a stand alone and doesn’t share space with let’s say KFC. The double location in Escondido pretty much put me off from Long John’s almost for good. I always get the chicken planks and fries. My order in Escondido was the same except that the chicken tasted like fish and was severely over cooked. I thought I would try this location because it is a single business unit. Wow. What a difference. The chicken planks tasted like chicken and the french fries were reasonably hot. I thought about how the chicken tasted years ago and it is very close. The batter was thin and slightly crunchy. The chicken was tender and moist. I’m a little torn. Really the only gripe that I have are the prices. $ 6 for 3 planks and some fries seem a little steep. The taste of the chicken was really what helped keep this rating from being lower so if they have a special where I can get the planks in a more economical fashion I will change it. For now it’ll stay 3 stars.

Yes, it’s a fast food joint but they have some spectacular fried food(redundant??). Their fish sticks are freshly battered and freshly fried. The batter is oh so gooood. All their other dishes are just the same, great tasting and very satisfying: the chicken breast, hushpuppies, etc. I can honestly say that nothing is bad here.
