not a bad little bar/restaurant but needs to decide weather it wants to be a dive bar, sports bar or a quality restaurant with alcohol available. The menu is quality especially for a bar in Iowa but the décor looks like something found in the basement of a church. The chairs are the ones you can stack and the tables weren’t the best but hey its small town Iowa. It’s not a ritzy restaurant but in a town of 1000, it will do and do well.

My food was awesome! The service was very blah and she seemed like she was just clocking her hours. NOPERSONALITYATALL!!! Thought about coming back after the casino but thinking i will go to Hills bar instead.

It’s a county bar with good service and food. Enjoy the local feel! All around good place. Is it great? No. Doe they at least have a pinball machine? NO. :-(

There’s no way in hell this place could garner 5 stars, and my giving it 2 is being rather generous. I do this based on that they had a couple of decent beers, which was surprising, and desperately needed during the horrible August heatwave the area was getting pounded with. We went to Murphy’s in hopes of getting some old school diner/dive, country bar food, and on paper the menu definitely had promise. Unfortunately, between menu and plate our hopes were dashed against the rocks like babies in Psalms 137:9. I got a bacon cheeseburger and the boss got a Reuben. Both were hardly edible. I had better burgers from school cafeterias in my youth. I mean come on, it’s a flippin burger, not rocket surgery, how do you eff that up? And the Reuben, I didn’t even want to try it it looked so bad(let’s not even get into the what the interior of Murphy’s looked like, that could have been excused if the food had been good). The Mrs. ended up picking off the«meat»(not sure what it was exactly) and basically had a sauerkraut and cheese sandwich. I will say the fries were pretty good… but that’s by no means a saving grace. Service was by no means spectacular, but not bad enough to warrant a negative complaint. I hope that the town’s other bar and grill is better, otherwise there won’t be many nights out on the town in ol’ Riverside. Live long and prosper.

We stopped in Riverside to check out Captain Kirks birthplace, yes, I love Star Trek! I can only assume that the staff has changed since he previous poster’s review. The bartender/waitress was nothing but friendly, quick and helpful. Out food was delivered immediately, piping hot, and our cups were never empty. I would definitely come back.
