Best ice cream shop ever! Great service great location! And I’m not just a thankful and loyal employee but also a customer!

Riverside Creamery used to be the place that I got soft serve from but lately, the service has gone extremely downhill. Upon my recent visit at *just* after 8pm, I was denied service as they exclaimed that they were closing up shop for the night. I touch perplexed, I stated that all i wanted was a small vanilla soft serve in a cup and that I was paying in cash but instead, a girl from the back screamed that they were not serving anyone else and that I should go home. I have two questions for the proprietors of Riverside Creamery: –Why would you deny service to a customer with a relatively easy order and who is paying in cash? –AND– –WHOCLOSESAT8pm on a Thursday night? Lets just say, they lost a customer and I am very pissed off.

This ice cream shoppe is the bee’s knees in Riverside! They always have a crazy variety of soft serve usually at any given time about 24 flavors. Things like the twist which is a Classic twist of vanilla and chocolate or the fudge brownie, perhaps you want to throw a topping on. Boom please choose from another arsenal of multiply topping of sprinkles, candies and fruit. Hard ice cream oh yeah at least 10+ of that goodness too. Pour on the hot fudge baby or pineapples yum! Shhhh secret… The kiddie is a small, the small is a large and the sundae can be shared. Portions done right lol I also love the service here. Everyone who has ever came to the window to scoop my families ice cream has greeted us with a smile and pointed out the yummiest ice creams of the day! Prices are fare, portions are big now enjoy it’s is sunny out!!! :)

Oh wow, I’m not sure what I should be more upset about. The fact that the entry level ice scooper gave me the worst service of all time or that Unilocal won’t let me give this place less than 1 star. I think I’m going to refer to her as Feet For Hands from here on out, considering all she had to do was put ice cream in a blender, press a button and pour it out. Instead, all I received was a shitty attitude and some subpar ice cream that I could have gotten at a gas station. Thank you Riverside Creamery for winning worst ice cream service of all time. Do not waste your time or money here.

In Riverside, this is the best place for ice cream, hands down! The menu selection is amazing. I love how they offer both hard & soft-serve, I’ve always been a sucker for the latter ;) However, I agree with the other reviews, that the soft-serve here is lacking. I guess I get that having so many flavor options, they’d have to find a shortcut(simply adding flavor syrup to the machine). But for me, it just doesn’t cut it. The quality of the hard ice cream makes up for it though. They also offer Del’s Lemonade & assorted frozen treats like those you’d find on any Palagi truck. The prices… Less than average. The portions… Way bigger than average! The service… Always friendly. The tiny parking lot does get kinda crazy, but there’s plenty of parking nearby, other than using their lot ;)

Not bad Icecream. Had the hard serve of cookies & cream(Oreo) and it was pretty good. It gave that authentic Oreo taste, not like that artificial one I find at many places. Good serving size and good Icecream. Overall great experience will be coming back.

Other Unilocalers mentioned Riverside Creamery serves Gifford’s of Maine but I’ve never heard of Gifford’s so that didn’t really sway me one way or another. The ice cream is good though. I had the Wild Maine Blueberry and it was loaded with ribbons of blueberry preserves and the vanilla is tastier than Dari Bee’s down the street. My only gripe is their soft serve is just the syrup flavoring type that gets mixed up in the machine as they make the cone. Of course, that means you have dozens of flavor choices but for my soft serve, I’m old school and much prefer the pre-mixed flavors of vanilla, chocolate and coffee. Those flavor syrup options are just never flavorful enough for me. Parking is a little iffy when the lot is full but this place is CHEAP and portions are huge! A kiddie size is comparable to most other places double scoop.

Riverside Creamery sells Gifford’s gourmet ice cream from Maine, and they’re very generous on portion size for cost(their kiddie scoop is currently $ 2.70 for a large single scoop). They also sell soft serve and Del’s lemonade if you’re so inclined. Bottom line is the hard ice cream is very good and I’ll be back. Preferably often.

I’m giving them 5 stars because they serve Giffords ice cream, which is the best ice cream I’ve ever had, hands down. It’s better than Hershey’s, Hood, Newport Creamery, etc etc. I’ve talked to friends and they concur. So, please don’t ever stop serving Giffords!

When I am craving soft serve, nothing else will do. This soft serve is the tasty stuff of summer memories… creamy, drippy, and piled so high on the cone it defies physical law. In fact, if you can keep up with your licks and come out unscathed by drips, you are my hero and I will buy you your next cone. For the rest of us, a lil’ tip: cone *and* a cup. I appreciate the«krunch coat» option akin to sprinkles. I have no idea what this is, but it is krunchy and delicious. There is an abundant array of Gifford’s ice cream options for the hard stuff, including«Smurf Cotton Candy.» Consider this a dare. For ambiance, Riverside Creamery is a little shack of a stand on a Willett Ave corner with a bunch of picnic tables on the side, illuminated by the glow of exposed yellow fluorescent bulbs. The clientele always represents a slice of Riverside life; I cling to the hope of seeing once again the lady who orders ice cream for her chihuahuas, waiting in great anticipation.

Riverside Creamery is awesome! The prices are reasonable, the portions are big, and they use Gifford’s ice cream — all natural ingredients, made in Maine, and delicious. They also have an impressive amount of options– soft serve, yogurt, sundaes, 3 kinds of dipped cones, and banana splits. There’s nothing very fancy– there’s no fresh waffle cones like at Somerset, and the ice cream isn’t mind blowing or anything, but the pricing reflects this. It’s easy to get to from the bike path– a half mile down a mellow one way street. They have a couple picnic tables out front and there is always plenty of seating. It’s better than that other riverside bike path ice cream joint in every way.
