AMAZINGFOODANDSERVICE! The sandwich was so fresh and the soup was perfect! Only reason not to get 5 stars is the seating was awkward!

Great sandwich shop, came with the kids for a quick lunch left completely satisfied. We ordered the French dip and an avocado turkey sandwich it came with sprouts and on a delicious bread. The atmosphere is genuine and family oriented and they move super fast. Ended our meal with an amazing cupcake called the PB&J, best thing ever. Will be back the next time we hit Riverside.

What a gem! The food was quality and the service was super friendly. The outdoor patio offers a romantic, yet casual atmosphere, in a hip little neighborhood.

Sandwiches are very tasty and reasonably priced. If you are use to big portions, this is not the place. Mac, potato and Cole slaw are all homemade and also very tasty and hits the palate just right. Get 2 sandwiches if you are hungry or a big eater, trust me you will get another one if you only get one. If you are a person that reasonably eats a normal portion you will be satisfied. All in all great little sandwich shop, good people and friendly owner.

I’ve been here several times over the last few years. I switched to Simple Simon’s because they had phenomenal roast lamb but the quality went down and the bread became hard because they have so many people. I regret not coming here more often. It’s a small shop. Today it was the lady that owns the place and three dapper young men preparing the food. I ordered the egg salad on squaw bread– their most popular bread, and when asked for the side I couldn’t decide so she gave me a little bit of both the potato salad and the pasta salad. I liked the pasta salad more. When I was ordering the lady mentioned that I made a good order choice because I’ve been there before… However it’s been a whole year or more since I last came. I really appreciated her remembering me and it made me very happy. Customer service like this is phenomenal. The portions are kinda small for the price but the lady strives to use only the best ingredients(I overheard her saying to another customer that she was out of sprouts because she sent them back because they were not good enough for her). Shame because the sprouts are tasty but I appreciate her dedication to quality. I’ll return as often as I can. This is a local business I would love to support! Try their roast beef if you’re not feeling the egg salad. Also, if you’re into that, this place is Instagram worthy and one of the most Tumblr looking places you’ll see.

Had the turkey on squaw bread. The owner said the turkey is the best seller. He suggested pastrami which is my fav but the wife vetoed it. The sandwich with was very good, fresh and the bread was soft as a can be. We had the potato salad as a side. Now I pride myself on my potato salad and it takes a lot to impress me. This stuff was solid with black olives and roasted garlic. Really good! He also gave us a sample of the clam chowder which was tasty. Good, fast sandwich to go!

5 stars for the owners 2 stars for meal I really wanted to love this place because the owners are SO nice. BUT, for the price being around $ 10 for a sandwich and a very small side, it just wasn’t worth it :(The sandwiches were poorly put together — it was so odd. My veggie on squaw had three paper thin slices of cucumber on one side and two very small slices of avocado on the other side; amounting to half of a quarter of an avocado. The tiniest spread of mustard in the middle of one piece of bread and a very thin sprinkling of sprouts. It was just SO sparse. I mean, there’s not meat on it… Fill it up with veggies and put them all over the sandwich, not just on one side! My friend got a roast beef and their sandwich was rather meek as well, although she said it tasted good. I’m sure they have to pay a lot to rent the space since it’s in a prime area but, if you’re worried about it, charge a couple bucks more and make phenomenal sandwiches. But don’t charge a lot and skimp on everything.

First off, kudos to the owner for giving me the best customer service that I’ve had in a long time. He was genuine and very personable. Ok now back to the food. This place is a little gem. I ordered the turkey and ham sandwich on squaw bread, poblano soup with pasta salad. Washed it down with sioux city root beer. All I can say is delicious delicious delicious!

TURKEYAVOCADO on SQUA bread — The sandwich is pretty big considering I only got half a sandwich. It came with cheddar cheese, tomato, onion, lettuce, and sprouts. BEEFCORNHASH on WHITE — I liked this one because the beef was more flavorful and salty. It came with avocado, a slice of turkey?, tomato, lettuce. MACARONI side salad — I liked how easy it was to eat, it wasn’t slimy or chunky or thick. It was slightly wet and creamy, and delicious. POTATO side salad — not much of a fan. It was thick and average in taste. SOUP du JOUR — PORTOBELLOMUSHROOM and BARLEY — I really liked this soup. I liked that the soup was hot but not burn-your-tongue hot. The soup was a perfect combo of veggies like carrots and celery and lentls. The service was quick and they brought out the meals to our group sitting outside the café, in the little plaza. Restrooms are for Employees, but you can ask the Upper Crust for the key.

Great little sandwich shoppe. Friendly owners. 10+ different root beers. Went with the recommended Roast Beef on Sqaw bread. If you are in downtown riverside and want a mom&pop lunch bite that won’t break the bank, check out the Upper Crust!

Came here today for the first time and I was really impressed! The owner is so friendly and hospitable, and the sandwiches are delicious. I got a custom turkey and avocado sandwich on squaw bread, with a side of potato salad. The potato salad was delicious, and the squaw bread is INCREDIBLE. I’ve never had it before, but it definitely makes the sandwich. They also have a fridge full of vintage root beers. Only downside is they only have one register and and the line gets really long. But I’ll definitely be back!

I’m a big fan of Upper Crust! I love their tuna salad on a croissant or squaw! I usually get it without the mixed greens and no mustard. Their homemade sides are definitely a treat. I recommend the mac salad, pasta salad, or chowder!

Ordered the roast beef on sourdough with everything on it except for mayo. I also ordered a side of chili with cheese and onions. The owner is a super friendly guy and really amps you up for your meal. He recognized his regulars which is a good sign. Unfortunately, besides the owners pleasant demeanor and presence, I was disappointed in my meal. I was expecting the sandwich to be a little more substantial and filled with meat. For a price in the double digits, I was hoping the meal would be more filling. The ingredients were good but the bread to meat/produce ratio wasn’t great. The chili also wasn’t spicy. I hoped it would be, but that’s my fault for not asking prior to ordering it. Next time, I’ll probably order a pre set sandwich rather than making a custom and pass on the side chili/chili.

Yes, get that squaw bread. I ate at Upper Crust for three days straight, it was THAT good. I ordered the roast beef(get the whole sammich!) and a side of pasta salad. It was so tasty, roast beef was moist, and the pasta salad had the perfect bled of vinegar and olive(I don’t even like olive). GETTHEBROWNIE. Whatever you do, GOEARLY … get the BROWNIE. Owners were super sweet and nice. =] Next time I am in the«8th coolest city»… I will swing on by to get me a sammich or twenty.

Wow I loved this place! The owner was such a sweetheart! I talked to him forever, he was so nice. The chicken salad sandwhich on squab bread was the BEST sandwhich I’ve ever had. I put pickles, sprouts, lettuce and tomato on it. It was so delicious I would eat it everyday if I could. But the potato salad is what you should drive here for. I don’t even like potato salad much and this was heavenly. The pasta salad was delicious too. The place is small and family run with an outdoor patio which is perfect for lunch. They also sell Serinas cupcakes(I think he said she is his daughter) they were amazing. I loved the Pb& j. They are 2 for 5 $. So get 2! I love that all of there ingredients are fresh and healthy. He told me everything they use is top quality which I appreciate. Support this local place if your in riverside, it’s worth it!

We followed our Unilocaltuiton and decided to stop in for lunch. With so many reviews and lovely pictures, we were set on getting our grub on. Once we found parking and made our way inside, I was surprised to see how small this place was. The guy at the front counter was very friendly and immediately greeted us. I asked him for the best sandwich they made and he recommended the Pastrami on Rye made his way. He suggested the turkey with avocado on squaw for the wife. Ok, here’s the deal — the sandwiches tasted fine. But overall, they were a bit of a disappointment. Maybe we came at the wrong time and they were all out of stuff to make sandwiches, but ours looked nothing like what we saw in the pictures. My sandwich was a pathetic version of the ones seen here. Literally two slices of meat, more mustard flavor than anything and not much more. My wife’s turkey was so basic and lacking any semblance of a great sandwich. I can honestly say, the reviews and pictures are totally misleading. Overall this place is overpriced and overrated for what you get. I’m not a fan but hey, at least the service was great!
