The bad reviews for this place must be from competitors because I’ve been going here for YEARS and love it! Food & service are great! Steaks are really good. My family, and also friends who I have recommended, all love this place. I have a picky grandson & every time we need to celebrate something, i.e., awards, birthday, etc, he ALWAYS chooses this place.

Have been going here for over 10 years. Lately the prices are getting pretty high and quality is slipping. My favorite order is the Beacon wrapped filet. I have seen it go from $ 8.50 to $ 19.00. The last time I ordered this dish it was cooked to perfection the only problem was it was hard to cut with a steak knife and was hard to chew. Very disappointed usually you can cut it with just a fork and it melted in your mouth. I wouldn’t mind paying the price if they we’re that way all the timer. but they raise the price and give you inferior meat. I would expect this from Sizzler but not here. Every thing else was fine, they still have a killer baked potato. Never had a bad one yet. Always cooked to perfection. The staff is always friendly and prompt. Will still come here just will not order the beacon wrapped filet. they have a great fish combo plate which I order at least 2 times a year and have yet to get a bad dish.

Decent food and good prices. Come here often and had the New York steak tonight. Thin piece of meat and was ordered medium… Came out very well done… But usually I order the combo burger and it’s pretty good. Good service.

We moved from La Verne to Mira Loma and were really sad that we couldn’t hit our favorite restaurant anymore. Until we found out about the Spunky Steer. Related to the family that owns the Tenderloin and built on the same platform of food we’re excited to have our favorite spot back. BUT! We have been to the Steer 4 – 5 times and had horrible service every time. Last 2 times the steaks have been overcooked. The baked potato was cold. Missing silverware. Bread burned. I mean C’mon this is just basic restaurant hospitality at its worst. Oh and did I mention the service blows! I’m so sick of spending my hard earned money. We will not be back.

Love this place… Usually. But what kind of restaurant allows a «table of 30»? You basically allowed a group who should have booked a banquet to take over one of our favorite places on a Saturday night. We had to go somewhere else. Not impressed.

Love this place. We eat here once a week. The best blue cheese salad and baked potatoe any where. The plank steak for two is always excellent. You can still get a carafe of wine here but there could be a better draft beer selection.

Oh lordy, this place was awful. We went in on a Wednesday early afternoon at 4 pm. No rush, it was post lunch and pre dinner. Yet our service was ridiculously crappy. First off, the ordering process took forever. We had water, which we kept asking to refill. My husband and I both had hot tea. The waitress wouldn’t give us a refill so we only got one mug :-( Had a steak and mashed potatos and veggies with side salad… My side salad was DROWNING in ranch dressing. It was so sick. The lettuce was suffocating and there was one cherry tomato on my plate. I’m positive I ordered a size salad with ranch. NOT ranch with a side of salad. The mashed potatos were watery and clearly from a box. If I’m going to pay $ 13 or $ 14 for a steak dinner, give me a real potato mashed up. Watery oooozy faux potatoes are not the way to go with a steak dinner. My son is the pickiest eater on the face of the earth. He wasn’t feeling it and after looking over the menu, saw that orange slices were an option as a side for the kids menu. He asked the waitress for just a side of oranges. She advised us that they can’t do that. SERIOUSLY?! Give the kid a damn cut up orange. It’s really not that big of deal… or is it? I had her ask the manager if she could please let my son have orange slices. After some huffing and puffing, we got the damn orange slices. Our check came and apparently that was one special orange. $ 4 for half an orange sliced up. It just dawned on me that I could have ordered an ice tea and asked for orange slices and they probably just would have given them to me. But, I’ll never know because there won’t be a next time. This place sucks.

Consistency… Consistency…Consistency!!! That’s what«Spunky Steer» strikes me as displaying. Storyline: Okay, so on our voyage back to civilization this past weekend, having«saved the day» for my office and agreeing to drive out to Timbuktu(aka…San Jacinto) in this undeniably abysmal heat, our stomachs began to display signs of neglect and in a famished state of mind I was all the more inclined to reminisce on past experiences with this place in all of their superb glory. Back in the day as an IE resident, I remember stopping off at Spunky Steer on occasion while in quest of an absolute guarantee of satisfaction. From steaks to salads and thereon to fries and baked potatoes — I CANPERSONALLYATTESTTOITALLBEINGGOODINTHISHOOD!!! Fast Forward: Years later, it pleases me to visit again and observe the very same consistency… in both quality as well as service!!! Our server, Jeremiah(I believe his name to have been) was upbeat and nothing short of attentive. It’s always a plus when your server knows their«product» and his recommendations were ONPOINT!!! I ordered the filet and despite it being«lunch time» when we arrived, I/we were informed that by partaking in the dinner option for a few dollars more, we’d get twice the portion. Sweeet! In turn, we did just that and well,…the result was our needing a dolly just to be wheeled outa’ this joint!!! Our total was no more than $ 30.00 for 2 people(something you will NOT see within the city) and this experience alone has guaranteed or continuous patronage! Conclusion: While I’ve yet to visit and actually meet«Tony», I’m elated to grant him 2 very enthusiastic thumbs up for a job well done… and a steak medium-rare!!!

I’ve been coming to Tony’s Spunky Steer out here in riverside for over ten years. That’s a long time. I’ve always been a loyal customer, I’ve always ranted and raved about this place and have brought it a lot of business thanks to word of mouth. Every new friend I make, I usually end up going to T’s SS with or at least getting them to go. When we first started eating there the customer service was superb. 5⁄5 stars easy, the servers remembered who you were and they always treated you nice and were very polite. They were even apologetic IF something was ever wrong which was as common as a dust storm in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Ten years ago if you asked me about spunky steer I’d only tell tales of excellence. Five years ago the exact same thing. Today if you asked me, I honestly wouldn’t be sure what to say, I’d tell you it’s good sometimes… and sometimes it’s not. All I ask for is five star service, and I promise you as long as the food is not rotten I will return. Luca, or however you spell her name, is a server at T’s SS here in Riverside and I’ve had her about four times. Each and every time she’s been rude and has never given better than one star service. I’ve literally had better service at McDonald’s. I never say bad things about people or even negative things unless it is warranted. Well ladies and gentleman, it’s ON. Don’t you dare bring your horrible ass, stanky attitude to the table we were seated just to provide my mother and I with worse service than prisoners received in Alcatraz. ESPECIALLY not on her BIRTHDAY. That is UNACCEPTABLE. I only ask for one thing on my mothers birthday and that one thing is that she feels like the most special person on the planet, why? Because to me she is. I’m by no means the perfect son but for all intents and purposes I’m the best son EVER. For somebody to treat MYMOTHER with anything less than perfection ESPECIALLY on her birthday is unforgivable, I don’t give a damn how crappy your day or life or whatever has been. She’s lucky I didn’t cut her down with words on the spot only because it was my mothers birthday and I was trying my absolute hardest to stay civil. I understand having a bad day, everyone has those but be professional and don’t bring your problems to work. The issue here is every experience I’ve had with her has been horrible service. That’s not a bad day that’s a bad LIFE so find a new job or get an attitude check. Moving on to the birthday meal disaster from hell. Nacho I guess that’s his nickname is a cook in the back who’s birth given name is Ignacio, he spoke only in Spanish but fortunately for us my mother speaks Spanish fluently. He threatened to not make another steak after the third one because WE were making him waste money. Cause getting horrible food is OUR fault. First steak was over salted, Luca argued with us about it because you know, we like thrive on sending back a perfectly good food just because we are real true villains like that. Why couldn’t she just apologize for the mistake EVENIFITSNOTYOURFAULT and have it remade. OHNONOTLUCA, cause she’s the most specialist queen B on earth, you know, God’s gift to humanity. Ignacio then sent us a second steak after luca reluctantly sent back the first one and the next one to come out was SEAREDBLACK on one side and absolutely raw on the inside, I get it ass clown you think you’re cool screwing with peoples food because you’re so damn tough. Medium well is a light pink center, the center of my mothers second steak was RED and BLOODY, I know that asshole turned the heat up and burned her steak on purpose because the third steak that came back was perfect. This prick is real FUNNY he thinks people don’t know when you screw with their food? Well jokes on you cause eventually we received a perfect steak. I hope for his sake he didn’t screw with my mothers food in another way because what goes around comes around and 10x worse. I proceeded to call Gunther the next day, he’s the owner of this once fine establishment, to make a complaint. Not once did he apologize, instead he offered me a twenty five dollar certificate(Which I gladly accepted) in order to «Ease the pain» as he so delicately put it and offered me an explanation, letting me know that people have a bad day and yesterday 9÷2÷15 they received more complaints than usual. I began to understand what the problem was. This place doesn’t just have a couple of bad workers, the ownership is the real problem. I hope things change at T’s SS and they cares enough to do something about it because I guarantee I’m not the only person that has experiencing things like this lately and people wont stand for it. The owner needs to retrain ALLOFTHESTAFF I’m not an educated man and even my untrained butt can see that clear as day. The owner needs a serious wake up call or his business is going to sink faster than car full of fat people in the middle of the ocean.(I’m fat so I can say this joke)

Food is mediocre, service sucks. It’s not so busy so I can’t see what’s with the attitude. You serve fries, you ask the customer if they want ketchup or anything else. Nope, that didn’t happen. My mom received her soup and salad after all the food was brought out. Her salad much smaller than the ones she served other customers and the soup was all over the place. Thankfully she brought her out another one. By the time she brought out the ketchup and mayo for my sandwich which had none my food was cold. I don’t know if she’s just having a bad day or her service is just lacking. I have been here many times and it seems like this is the common trend, of just ok food and bad service. From now on we’re going to Lonestar in Corona. I’m all for giving second chances but after three your out. Sucks because I would rather spend my money in my own neighborhood.

We love this restaurant! My absolute go to meal is the Specialty Steak(butterflied) with a Baked Potato(butter and cheese) and Garlic bread. This meal Always hits the spot! It’s comes out on a sizzling hot plate! I know it’s incredibly hot yet I still take a bite because I just can’t help myself. My Husband gets the Spunky burger(add Bacon) with BBQ sauce on the side and it is really good! The meat has good flavor and the bread makes the burger amazing! Service is good. Some days are better than others depending on how busy they are. The food always comes out pretty quickly. Come here if you want good steak with lots of flavor! You don’t even need any type of steak sauce.

This place is really good. Came here last night for a pre birthday dinner with my boyfriend, I ordered the shrimp and steak dinner it came with garlic bread and a salad… I ordered my steak medium rare it was delicious very moist and you can cut it with a fork. The service with out waiter was awesome as well I loved the fact that even though we came before closing they still seated us and treated us well. I would definitely be back thanks for the great service!

I did not know Spunky Steer was a knock off of Steer N Stein. I’m a big fan of Steer N Stein so I came here with a few friends of mine. When we sat down our waitress comes over immediately, brings us water, an asks if we are doing separate checks. We replied w/yes. The face she made and the sigh that followed made me think«why the heck did she ask if she was going to get bothered by it.» I never understood why separate checks bothers certain servers. I ordered the stockyard steak medium-well(butterfly cut), which comes with a choice of soup or salad and baked potato. The first few bites of the steak were great just like I ordered it. Once I got closer to the middle, the steak was red and raw at this point. I just ate around the remaining pieces. I thought maybe I was being a little b**ch so I asked my friends and their steaks were uncooked in the middle as well.
