Steak ‘n Shake

Consistently the slowest service. Drinks left unfilled. Food came out cold and mushy.

Food was good for the price. Service was absolutely lousy. Waitress never asked me if I needed anything after initially serving me. I had to go to another table to get ketchup and ask a different waitress for a refill. If you Don’t like Your job just quit

I love Steak n Shake food. The service at this location is hit or miss. Krissie is very friendly and always provides great service. The problem I have with this location and the one by Brandon mall is the major lack of cleanliness. Every time I have gone in the last 2 years both are filthy. Almost every time I have to ask for my booth to be cleaned before I sit down. Many times the servers get an attitude when asked. I’m unsure why they try to seat people in dirty booths. I am also unsure why the empty tables and booths are typically full of dirty dishes. The window shades are filthy. Bathrooms are usually gross. Floors are disgusting. I wish they kept it clean because I would love to come here more often.

When the manager is wearing a sloppy shirt with stains, and he takes you to a dirty table which he wipes with a dirty rag, it doesn’t sit well and if you’re like me you won’t be able to eat there. I went to the one on State Road a few miles away in Valrico, near the post office. There I found friendly staff, cleanliness and fresh food that I’ve come to enjoy with Steak ‘n Shake way back in Texas. Grateful for the redeeming experience at a different location.

I’ve been here a few times, the service has been great, food has been exactly the way we wanted (I have some picky little ones). Will definitely be coming back. Keep up the great work…

Never been before but needed a quick bite in between family medical appointments. Had a simple cheddar burger which was so fresh. Kind of crispy on outside but juicy on the inside. All ingredients were fresh and well seasoned.
Not a fast food lover but definitely one of the better establishments when needed.

Consistently bad service. Always takes forever to order, get food and pay. Staff acts indifferent and barely acknowledged customers. Would not recommend this location.

Went in sort of in a rush to be somewhere around 1pm. The restaurant was slammed busy with customers. We came in behind a school bus full of children. They seated us after they were threw with them. The food came out quickly. Our waitress was lovely. She explained to us that this was a training store. Overall a good average experience at Steak ‘n Shake. Food was good and hot. Will go back to this location in the future.

Wanted to try this new to us location. Waited 10 minutes at the door. They had only 5 – 6 customers but still no one helped us. We are definitely not coming back.

The food is always good but the service is, eh. The employees who waited on me were sloppy with my food and made unprofessional comments. There was fruit punch all on the outside of my drink and I didn’t even order a fruit punch, lol (I ordered lemonade). The actual restaurant is very clean and not usually crowded which is a plus. I’m so glad they allow you to order your food online because I prefer not to have to deal with the staff here. But even with that feature, the employee’s seem to not know what they’re doing.
I would recommend this Steak and Shake for take-​out, not for dine in.

Tried to go through the drive-​thru.
It’s a little before ten pm… I have one car sitting behind me and they refused to take our order because we had three separate orders. Their reason was they can only take two orders due to volume… You had four people in your line. Normally it’s pretty fast when I use the drive-​thru service. But I had to come inside. Why offer a service when you can’t serve? Not too happy, I work in the industry the customer is usually right, but you do what you can to serve your customer. You can make three burgers in one order but not three burgers in three separate orders?

My boyfriend races at the dirt track nearby fairly regularly, so we end up at this Steak ‘n Shake a couple times a month. The service is consistently poor, but the food is just as good as any other Steak ‘n Shake. It can sometimes take half an hour just to get a drink! To be fair, a lot of race teams come here to eat so it can get very busy. The drive-​thru stays busy as well. Maybe if they added a few staff members it would improve the wait times.
Like any other restaurant in this chain, the prices cannot be beat. This is especially true when combined with their coupons! I do love their fries and the seasoned salt that is left on each table. I guess sometimes you have to sacrifice in one area to gain in others.

I enjoy the $ 4.00 double hamburger and match stick fries. Like most Steak & Shakes, there is a wait to sit and a longer wait to be served. You get what you pay for, in this case… FOR SURE.

First off I would give. our server Maria 4 stars but some of the reasons I would give it a 2 star overall–
No hostess/​greeter stood there awkwardly for a few minutes
Food was okay but how can u mess up eggs and bacon?
Place needs a REALLY good cleaning– booths, floor and bathrooms are disgusting.
Had to ask someone to ring up our bill no cashier.
Management needs to take care of business and take pride in that store – always a busy place and will start losing customers.

Never been disappointed with the shakes or burgers although the pizza burger was a tad bit salty. Pancakes are delish too!

Same story with this place. It has been at least six months since I have darkened the doors at the Steak-​n-​Shake on Bloomingdale in Brandon. Today I waited several minutes to be seated due to an obvious short staff situation. The waitress was nice and food came out fairly fast. The management needs to hire or ensure they have the proper coverage so folks are not waiting at the door.

Always good for a quick cheap Sunday breakfast. Get here early fills up fast. Kids love it

This location has got to be the worst in the entire chain when it comes to getting drive thru orders right. You may as well ask them to give you whatever they have ready because you won’t get what you order.
Going thru their drive thru is equivalent to ordering a pizza and then having Chinese food delivered. When you get home and discover their screw-​up and call to complain, they want you to bring it back. HELL NO!!! If I bring it back someone is getting slapped upside the head. Get in your damn car and bring the correct food to me!
How stupid do you have to be not to take the correct order at a drive thru? Apparently this Steak ‘n Shake seeks out and hires the dumbest people they can find.

Always a fan of a good Frisco Melt or steakburger, this location across from Target is a decent spot to have a quick greasy burger and a shake. Their prices are generally pretty good, and any given week there’s a flyer in the mail with coupons, so there’s plenty of incentive to swing by.
This time I went through the drive-​thru, and my order came out in a reasonable amount of time — 7 minutes for a Frisco, fries, and club sandwich.

Steak ‘n Shake is the epitome of outstanding cheap food. I know those words hardly ever go together, but it makes sense when you really think about Steak n’ Shake. I went to this restaurant for brunch and it was completely crowded. In fact, I had to wait to get seated. This restaurant really doesn’t have a good system for waiting either. It consists of basically standing in front of the door awkwardly until someone notices you. Although once I was seated, the waitress and staff were rather friendly and helpful.
During my brunch, I had eggs, hash browns, bacon and pancakes. My wife had mini burgers and fries. My dish was alright and my wife seemed to like her dish as well. The food was nothing to rave about but it did fill us up. I also shared a peanut butter shake with my wife, which was rather delicious. The shake was infinitely creamy and had small chunks of peanut butter in it. The whole shake just blended really well together.
As a whole, the restaurant was rather clean and I enjoyed my experience at Steak ‘N Shake. It wasn’t memorable in shape or form but it had a different quality about it. It was cheap. I’ll give Steak N’ Shake three stars for this reason alone. Not to mention, their shakes are simply phenomenal. It was just a heavenly creation filled with chunks of gooey delicious peanut butter. (Is that descriptive enough for you?)
