My husband and I stayed here for one night in the main house/bed and breakfast section of the property. We were attending a wedding in Roan Mountain on a Saturday night and needed somewhere to get ready beforehand and then sleep after the wedding. My husband had stayed here before in the hostel section of the property when he was doing some App Trail hiking and raved about how nice the property was and how amazing the breakfast spread in the morning was. He was spot on! The property was immaculate. There is a creek that runs through the property, some horses and goats in various pens, lots of outdoor seating areas to sit(or lay! there’s a hammock!) outside and enjoy the fresh mountain air. The house was very clean and cute and the breakfast was INCREDIBLE. Like really, really good. We got to chat with some of the App Trail Thru-hikers that were staying there and had some nice conversation with the owners. Overall it was a really neat/unique B&B experience and I wouldn’t mind coming back to spend a whole weekend and maybe do some hiking.

My wife and I spent two nights here during a two-week backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail. The nights in the Isabelle Room were a treat half way through our trip. Overall this is a fabulous place, with the best breakfast on the AT(I have hiked the whole AT). The room was great and the bed was real good. We need to dock them one star because the coffee is not good: Weak dirty dishwater. And we waited all day for a ride to the post office, which didn’t happen until 5 minutes before it closed! This was critical to our trip to send gear home, but Mary seemed not to take us seriously and we had to find someone else to drive us there. Disappointing. But the positives outweigh the negatives at this wonderful lodge. We would stay there again and we highly recommend it to others. Just bring your own coffee if you are from Seattle, like we are.

Love this place! Really sweet hosts in a great location just off the Appalachian Trail. Hostel is rustic, but as comfortable and relaxing as you could ask for.
