By FAR, the best pizza in the region. Small and always packed, these wood fired pies are exceptional in every way. Highly recommended!

Great wood fired pizzas! Place is small but they have outside seating with everything you need in a large Tupperware container. The white pizza was delicious as were the others we ordered.

Amazing establishment with reasonable prices and great food. A little weirdly situated behind a home, however I’d like to think that adds character. I’d highly recommend the«hiker» pizza which combined a series of flavors that I never thought would work well together into something that was out of this world good. Certainly planning on stopping in again sometime!

You order pizza at a walk up counter and watch the staff making fresh dough and rolling it out for pizzas. Excellent selection of toppings. Great pizza!

These guys are very friendly. Excellent service. Love the backyard sorta atmosphere outside. We had a friendly dog come visit us along with a friendly, goatee wearing cat. Not bothersome at all. And the food was fantastic! Love the meat lovers pizza. PS They have an excellent choice in music.

What a great hidden gem! The pizza came out quick and was delicious! Also, they have fresh baked goods that we took home to eat later. Not a lot of seating, and the only bathrooms are«outhouses». The only downside was the amount of flies roaming this place. We were going to eat outside but the flies were too bad, so we moved inside.

After hiking to the top of Roan Mountain on the Appalachian Trail, which happened to be covered with ice, the wood fired pizza and fresh bread here really hit the spot! All the fresh-baked goods were excellent with refreshingly reasonable prices, and over the two days we were here I tried the brownies, cinnamon rolls, coconut macaroons, maple glazed scones, New York Rye bread, Walnut Peasant Bread, and an egg sandwich on a bagel, in addition to a wood fired oven baked pizza with spinach, artichoke hearts and green pepper. I also got a jar of this year’s local maple syrup, which I haven’t tried yet. A great place that’s intimate enough for good conversation among strangers. I would drive here for the bread on a regular basis if I could. Coming back in the spring and summer, to hopefully sit outside for a meal, is my new intention. This is a very rare gem for this locale, and a blessing for outdoor enthusiasts and everyone else in the region.

A gem in the mountain Pizza crust is A grade and the toppings fresh and plenty. Watch out for the bake goods they are too good to resist.

Drive up to a small joint with the split wood and axe right outside you know this is a legit wood fired oven. Very crispy tasty pizzas. The pizzas are all 12″. That have great suggestions. Bottled and canned soft drinks are available. There are only 3 tables inside so be prepared to take it out or get there early. Not for the fancy schmancy folks. There are port a johns outside for the public use.

Though they are known for their pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven, they make some amazing baked goodies as well. We had their Hawaiian pizza and a pizza with feta cheese, sundries tomatoes, and banana peppers. Both pizzas were cooked to perfection and very filling. Smoky Mountain Bakers also has a selection of local sodas available, and they are delicious. After enjoy some fantastic pizza, we ended the meal with large and tasty coconut macaroons. It’s not the easiest place to find, but it’s worth it.

California feel in the hills of TN. Many great weld fired combinations. Came here with the family and ate outside by the garden. Great experience.

Upon our arrival at Smoky Mountain Bakers we saw what looked like a private driveway with a run down house. We were a little concerned tookna deep breath and entered. The order taker like the establishment was not sophisticated or overly friendly. None of this matters because unlike most rural restaurants the food is fresh made using only quality ingredients. The pizza crust was as good as any New York pizzeria.

This is such a unique place for the area. Pizza, breads, salads and treats. The prices are fair and they run some great specials. The food is way above average and this quaint family owned and operated business is great for this community. Looks a little rough on the outside but trust me its a real treat.

Even when they are busy(at the end of the school day or when the local cops opt to break from a road trip into the mountains), it is well worth the wait. As if the pizzas were not pure perfection, the fresh baked goods add a level of impressive that a town as small as Roan Mountain has certainly never experienced. This business represents exactly the type of ingenuity and entrepreneurship that this area so desperately desires. I hope this fresh new variety only serves to encourage others to create new niches in this quiet little mountain town. I hesitate to give the $$ rating, because it is almost only $. Most of the specials are about $ 11/$ 12 and easily enough to feed 2 or 3. I can not stress what a good value this place is. Inexpensive enough for the locals to afford, meanwhile won’t break the bank for travelers. Easily worth venturing merely a moment off the main highway.

Excellent post-hike pizza. I’ve been twice and both times it has been excellent. The white pie with sausage, pesto, ricotta, and caramelized onions is highly recommended.

Very unique and fantastic venue. A local couple opened a brick-oven pizzeria in a barn. They also bake fresh bread and desserts there. We ordered a pizza with caramelized onions, mushrooms and ham. We asked how the sausage was and the lady taking our order was very candid: «It will be better tomorrow. We get the fresh ground local sausage tomorrow.» So we chose ham. Which proved to be a great choice. This pizza was delicious. We had just eaten and were quite full from the local greasy-spoon down the street, so we took the pizza to go, along with some pumpkin bread and some chocolate chip cookies. Very inexpensive. They only accept cash or personal checks. I had $ 13 cash on my person and it was less than that. I just ate the warmed, buttered pumpkin bread for breakfast this morning. Delectable. Melted in my mouth. If you smell a smoky, brick-oven delicious smell wafting through the air of Roan Mountain, I would definitely recommend a stop here. Where there’s smoke, there’s pizza!
