Sound sucks in the stadium screens. Dialogue tracks are too low. Pretty serious offense. Terrible that the heart of the Cave Spring area has to endure this place.

Better than valley view… Less people and a little older crowd… Not as many people being loud and obnoxious…

If you try to find this place… try looking behind kroger… seriously this place out of sight. maybe for a reason. The movie theater reminds me that I should be glad to have malco theater where I live. The theater didn’t have a lot of food to choose from and really didn’t seem to put effort to make there business attractable.

My partner and I love this theater. We go at least once or twice a month. It doesn’t have the flashy look and feel of a lot of the commercial movie theaters you see nowadays, and admittedly there are sometimes technical issues with the movies. But, it’s the only one in the area where you can see any movie for $ 5, every day between 4 and 5:30. It’s never really too crowded, which I like, and the atmosphere is overall pretty laid-back.

I love movies. The only thing that can top experiencing a great horror movie on the big screen is seeing that same flick with a huge tub of movie theater popcorn dripping with atherogenic butter. I attended this Carmike 10 regularly due to its close proximity to my home. That said, I felt the Grandin and Regal Valley View theaters were preferable. The good: 1. The theater shows movies… 2. If you live in Cave Spring or the surrounding area, you can’t find a more convenient location(although just about anywhere in Roanoke is quite convenient…) The bad: 1. Overpriced food items. Seriously, the popcorn and candy cost more than in the San Francisco Bay Area, which is rather absurd. 2. Regular technical difficulties that often had to be brought to the staff’s attention(on multiple occasions I had to track down an employee to get the movie going or to fix a degraded picture). 3. Moves started late with some regularity. 4. Somewhat dilapidated appearance, much like the remainder of the Tanglewood Mall. Needless to say, the problems with the theater did not deter me from frequenting Carmike to catch the most recent horror, fantasy, or action movie. It’s not a bad joint, but there certainly are better locations in Roanoke.
