Staff acts as though you are an inconvenience to them! Seriously? Customer service is key to running a successful business these days! No one wants to be treated like crap when they are in an establishment spending their hard earned money… time to start earning yours, ladies! We are from out if town and did not feel welcome ATALL. Furthermore it’s a Irish Pub and they closed at 10pm on St. Patrick’s day?! Stopped serving food before 9pm.

We stopped in for a quick drink or two before our dinner reservations. The bartender was very friendly. It was early, so we were the only people in there. She ģave us some good suggestions about where to eat and not eat in downtown Roanoke. She made a really good woo woo! Decent prices. I think they were having karaōke later that night!

$ 4 PBRs? Then asked for a whiskey coke, it tasted like tequila my whole table tasted it and agreed. Waitress didn’t care and just took my drink saying«it’s not tequila.» It’s not whiskey either. Not coming back.

Outstanding service Came in on a Thursday, around 1:30PM, and was immediately helped. Bar was pretty dead, only about 8 people. Bartender was very nice, gave recommendations for food and beer and I went with a local IPA by Parkway Brewing(outstanding btw). Ordered the Patty Melt burger, and came out within 10 minutes. It’s basically cooked right in front of you which is awesome. The burger was delicious, but could have been bigger. Fries came with a side of their pub sauce which was delicious. Overall good experience. Reminds me of little Irish pubs around the NOVA and DC area.

Definitely in need of a bar rescue. Small place and oddly shaped. lack of enough seating and the staff allows drunk people to get sloppy drunk. Karaōke guy is consistent in one thing… being late. Food was pretty nasty and the bartenders didn’t know how to make basic staple drinks(the drinks they WERE making were almost too strong where you had to drink water to get the feeling of being flammable out).we won’t be back. We tried liking this place but. it just wasn’t in the cards.

Typical bar interior. We were a group of six looking for a place to have sandwiches for lunch. It was busy downtown on this Saturday with the Festival activities going on and we wanted a less crowded, quieter atmosphere. It was empty of patrons when we arrived, but quiet is definitely not here. Loud music piped from a radio station was not necessary at this time of day. I get that it is a bar and music is expected by some patrons, but I felt it was a little too loud for this time of day. The waitress/bartender appeared to be the only employee working besides the cook. She was in less than demure attire although she was attentive and our order arrived without an error. Everyone enjoyed their sandwiches, burgers and steak fries; the coleslaw was exceptional and very creamy – just the way I like it. I had the Pit club and was surprised to see that the ham in the sandwich was not your typical lunch-meat ham but was actually a slice of fried ham. Everything was fresh and our bill for the six of us was reasonable. Although the pub served our needs that day, I do not feel that I would be returning.

Flanary’s is what you’d expect out of an Irish pub. Deliciously divey atmosphere — dark with low lighting and plenty of whiskey and beer. While I was there, Pinnacle was doing a tasting of different liquors so I got to try a few out. The time to hit up Flanary’s is Wednesday night — it gets pretty crowded for trivia night. Make sure and bring your brain cus these questions can get pretty hard!

Go here for Trivia Wednesdays and laugh at the ridiculously offensive team names and overly competitive posturing. Drink a beer, eat some cheese curds or homemade pub chips. Be happy.

It’s all about the trivia on Wednesday nights. If you offend easily, don’t come here. Also, don’t come anywhere near me. The food is decent. The better items on the menu are the fish and chips, the cheese curds, and the buffalo chicken salad. Staff is pretty cool. And definitely no dress code.

Tim and I moved to ROA semi-recently. He’s a bigger beer snob than me and he longs for places that he can comfortably sit and watch games in his cut-off. He absolutely loves Flan’s. Personally, I feel like the bartenders are whatever and the food is decent. Decore is Irish and the scene is comfortable. I’ve been in there dressed for a club, but I’ve also been in there in sweats… either way, I’ve been happy and never felt outta place… really… Only qualms are: 1) I wish I could see some more Midwestern games though… God only knows how much I love the Brew crew(and the Cubs, shh!), but also all my other ESPN fav’s… 2) MOREMOREMOREIRISHTAPPERS for cheap! Guinness is Guinness, yes, and definitely one of my «old faithful’s», but gimme some micro brews or something with a little more taste than… ew… wahhhh MIller. Then, again, I’m a beer snob. I can’t help it… I’m from Wisco. We love brews! When you stop in, say, «hey» to Michelle, Tim, and me. :) Cheers, Flan’s! I’ll be back! PS. Check out the books on the walls!!! Some of them are great reads…

It smelled like urine. The crowd was dingy as hell and it was nowhere close to being an Irish Pub. Definitely a place to walk by quickly.

Ok– I am only giving this place 1 star based on the totally awesome and hilarious bartender Lauren and the pretty decent beef stew. If i could give no stars– I would. The liquor selection was so sparse, were it not for the green walls and wood paneling, one would be hard pressed to even identify it as an Irish pub. What kind of Irish bar doesn’t have Powers Irish whiskey? It is clear you are in no mood to stock your bar like a real bar owner and force your patrons to drink what’s available or leave. But really the whole experience was pretty good until some owner/manager type guy came in and passive aggressively criticized the aforementioned awesome bartender in front of me and tried to involve me in his schtick. As a customer of your establishment, I don’t want to know about how your people screwed up. The whole stupid situation was so off-putting I couldn’t wait to get out of your establishment. Message to manager/owner guy: if an employee makes a mistake– address it directly and privately. This is management 101. Hopefully this Unilocal review will publicly drive that point home. Irony is a killer, no?

If your definition of Irish is a Guinness beer, then this is your place. If not, then keep searching. My wife and I visited this small pub on a Wednesday evening. We were prompted by a «Daily Deal» coupon that saved us $ 5 on the meal. As a beer-lover, I was dismayed by their huge selection of nothing. Just a bunch of mega-beers. They did have Sam Adams Noble Pils on tap though. I had the special, which was a Cuban sandwich with steak fries covered in curry sauce. My wife had the Cobb salad. The service was attentive and polite. Our meals were brought with just the right amount of time for conversation and anticipation. I was a little disappointed in my sandwich, but would say it’s on par with the place as a whole. The mustard was assuredly French’s and the pickles were the«bread and butter» variety. The meat was only OK. The fries were good, but I didn’t care for the runny curry sauce. My wife’s salad was not what I’d call a great Cobb; things didn’t appear to combine well, and there was a huge amount of cheese compared to everything else. The settings were totally«bar.» We had to sit at a high-top table because every table in the place was booked for trivia night. I didn’t get a «clean» feeling either with the dim and burn-out lights on the ceiling fans, and dark, drab colors. This place is entirely appropriate for a bar setting, and for food cravings that come with a night out. Otherwise, I’ll pass.

Best Guinness in town with a fantastic pub crowd. This is a real pub not some«Irish theme» restaurant like some of the others. Celtic jam every Monday at 8PM so bring an instrument and join in. Pub quiz every Wed at 7:30PM — best to get here early. Food is pretty good and be sure and try the potato soup; it’s awesome. Can’t beat the staff they make sure your taken care of no matter how big the crowd. A very fun comfortable place just like a pub should be.

I was on a trip with my girlfriend and found this little pub in downtown Roanoke. The service was prompt and friendly and the atmosphere was amazing. The menu is small, but since it is mainly a pub, that is expected. The few items the menu did have though were amazing. The Guinness wings were possibly the best wings I have ever had.
