The sad news is, Hummus House is getting the heave from their current location because of the sale of the building in which they reside. They will be closing down on May 18th, according to the Roanoke Times. My suggestion to you is to get down there and show some love so as to give the owners a little padding to coast on till they find another place.

Tried it. Liked it. Hope it lasts. That’s the short version for those of you with attention spans like mine… Huh, what was I talking about again? Oh yeah. Tried the Shish Tawook. Pretty flavorful wrap and didn’t drip down on my plate. The hummus was ok, nothing spectacular. The baba ghanouj was pretty freakin good. You could tell it was eggplant which in my book is a good thing. The baklava was pretty good, the top layers of the filo dough were super crispy while the bottom layers were soaked in a good amount of honey. The hours suck unless you work downtown. They close at 6 and to the best of my knowledge aren’t open on weekends. However, if enough people bug the owner enough, he might change his mind. The dining room is pretty spartan but then again, I don’t care. Overall, not a bad place to grab a meal.

I gotta say…“I’m a regular” Lunch at least once a week. Really good Falafel and Kibbi… and the freshly made Baklava is the real thing. Prices are quire reasonable.
