Pete’s Deli is a great go to restaurant on a Saturday morning. The staff is amazing and always welcoming. The menu offer a wide array of options ranging from your classic southern style meals of chicken and dumplings to lamb gyro with tzatziki sauce. On my most recent visit I went right when they were searching both breakfast and lunch at around 10:30/11:00. Since I was in the mood for lunch food I decided on the lamb gyro with tzatziki sauce and French fries, I have had this meal here at Pete’s before as well as at several other restaurants in the valley. The gyro is pretty good in my opinion, but the tzatziki is the real star, a great balance of dill, cucumber and greek yogurt. If you’re big into breakfast I would definitely suggest you try this place out, on Saturdays the sell an amazing chipped beef served on your choice of toast or their homemade biscuit. If you’re into lunch/dinner food, come later and try either their lamb gyro or their ribeye steak sandwich with homemade steak fries. Regardless of what you choose you will not be disappointed with your choice of eating here.

Pete’s Deli & Café is simple and satisfying. The décor is primarily grey painted walls with a furnishing of wooden tables and booths. On a Friday night they draw in a large, yet less noisy, crowd. The menu features enjoyable downhome and deli style options. I recently ordered the lamb gyro with tzatziki sauce and French fries. I must say, «The lamb gyro is not too bad!» The tzatziki was delicious with tangy feta cheese mixed into it. As for the staff, they are welcoming and attentive. Overall, Pete’s is a comfort deli worth checking out if you are in the Roanoke, VA area!
