Had decently high hopes for this place since the ratings were pretty good and the food looked good too, but we walked in and promptly walked out. Maybe we would’ve actually ordered had the restaurant been clean, but alas, it was not. Server seemed friendly enough but we didn’t stay long enough to even order.

The food, including the Phở, has improved markedly since I last reviewed the restaurant.

My husband and I stopped by for a quick meal. The phở soup is awesome. Fresh quick and friendly service. Plain but clean. I would recommend the soups rather than the subs just because they are more traditional and healthy.

I loved both the food and service at Phở Vietnam. My waiter was polite and didn’t keep me waiting and the food was delicious. The spring rolls were phenomenal as was the pork bun vermicelli. I would highly recommend this restaurant

Good phở, with superior broth to phở Saigon in my opinion. Take it out– the place isn’t exactly great on ambiance. Sometimes there’s a sweet young man that works there, and sometimes there’s a grumpy couple so I usually don’t bother staying. The phở is good though, I’m surprised they’re always empty when I go…

Just went again the other night with my wife for date night and once again, it was awesome. I didn’t have any soup this time but I did have the deep fried dumplings and #42, some chicken and vegetables and we also had the BBQ beef roles. We love this place. Can’t wait to go again!

The deep fried pork dumplings are crispy and is juicy as you bite into it. A good amount of dumplings for the price The phở(phở dac biet) is subpar to other phở restaurants in the area. By no means is it bad. The broth could have just had a bit more flavor. The place is pretty large and well kept. Ideal for large crowds, which can’t be said for other phở restaurants in the area. The service is satisfactory and speedy. There were a few flies here and there, and a few dead on the window sill. Not many – around 5 or so, in a large room, so not very noticeable or bothersome. Apparently it is because of it is the store next door. Overall the place is good, however, there are better phở restaurants in the area.

Very good Vietnamese restaurant in Roanoke! Reasonable prices for authentic cuisine. Definitely worth the visit! Try the Bun Bo Hue(spicy beef noodle soup)

This place isn’t very popular, it’s on a busy street but there’s nothing that really grabs you to know they are even open. There are usually only a few cars in the parking lot, I really wish more locals would support this restaurant. The food is very good, if you like spicy they can do that. The only issue I had with this place was: I ordered pork lo mein to go, somehow the chef thought I asked for two orders, I paid for both and had the other order for lunch the next day, when I go in next time I’ll be sure to say 1 order… which I did last time.

Newly remodeled! I called in a take-out order, and it was waiting for me 10 minutes later when I walked over.(Anyone visiting Roanoke at the end of July will appreciate this.) Egg rolls — hot, crispy, flavorful BBQ pork rolls — good not great Stir fried egg noodles with pork — noodles were chewy with a wok-y taste, pork was juicy Service was very friendly, speedy, attentive. Yes, the owner’s son is a little awkward, but in an endearing kind of way.

For a place out in no where near a big city, with a weird décor, they actually serve a pretty good authentic phở. I have had better ones before, but be glad you can find decent phở in Roanoke. Service is quick and I think it’s a hard working family. Bbq pork spring roll was awesome, rice dish with pork is also good and reasonably priced.

The phở is average I don’t think it’s horrible but I have had much better, so 2 stars for the phở. The service is adequate, it’s family run, so majority of the time you see the awkward son getting people’s orders and filling drinks. The mom is the sweetest :) 4 stars for service. The charbroiled beef with rice is pretty great, so 4 stars for that dish! It’s well-seasoned and absolutely delicious. Décor is weird to me with their red booths and usually ripped seats. Bathroom is generally clean but it’s really cold in there all the time??? All in all check it out, it’s not the worst.

If I could give zero stars I would. Firstly, the phō was not great. It tasted like it had been made earlier that morning or the night before and was just microwaved. Secondly, the wait staff was abhorrent. This disheveled young man not only hung around unnecessarily at our table, but he disrupted our date with complaints about previous customers he had served that day. Ridiculous. On top of that he insulted me right in front of us. I won’t be eating here again. If you are in Roanoke and want good Vietnamese food, give Vina Café or anywhere else but this place a try.

This authentic Vietnamese restaurant sits on a busy street of Orange Ave next to Days Inn. The place wasn’t busy at all on a Monday evening, I was the third customer. Please sit anywhere the nice friendly young waitress said. I ordered my usual spring rolls and special phở #10. The spring roll wasn’t fresh, I think it was prepared this morning and then they microwave them. This is a BIG no-no as the microwave cooks food unevenly and it brown the lettuce duh! As for the phở, it was below average, the broth was very plain and blend, I had to add extra soy sauce, Hoisin sauce, and spicy Sriracha sauce to have that extra bold flavor. The lime slices they gave me for my phở was old, probably left over from a few days ago. Disappointing to me because I like my juice. I would mostly try my phở somewhere next time. :-(

I had the fish and it was succulent. Service was good but no 5 stars here overall it’s what you paid for.

Ordered: BBQ Pork Rolls, Phở Tai Nam Food: 3 Service: 3 I have to admit when I first got here the outside of the store looked a little dilapidated. However, the inside is filled with tables and there are always a few customers there. We started off with the BBQ Pork Rolls which tasted exactly like the pork vermicelli rolled up(not that that was a bad thing). The phở was pretty typical, broth tasted similar in quality to other more famous phở places but the ingredients were not the freshest. Service was fast and efficient.

99 things they did Right Excellent Lemongrass Stir-fry, Delicious Beef! Very few Vietnamese Places I have eaten in do this Dish Well! So this one comes in 2nd place to all the others I have eaten! Summer Rolls with Grilled Pork, were Delicious, a very nice preview to the Dish my Lover ordered! Fish Sauce was a very Nice Version, Mild(not too fishy) and just a little sweet! This is what I like, not too strong and not too sweet! This is the one they bring you in a Bowl, much more than«Fish» Sauce! If you do not know about Fish Sauce(the one on the Table in the little Bottle, start with only a few drops, thank me later, it is STRONG and Fishy! Grilled Pork and Vermicelli Noodles… This is that Cold Noodle Dish that most Vietnamese places serve… Noodles are plain unless you add one of the Sauces and usually I do not! Grilled Pork ! YUM! My Honey Bunny let me eat about half and it was better than most! Chopstick Skills! Our Server did not ask, which I take as a compliment, him assuming I can use the Sticks… I do! Very Nice Phở! The Sweet Smell of Boiling Bones! When entering Phở Vietnam I could smell that Sweet Smell of a Phở Kitchen, Phở House… When my Bride says she is starting to like Phở, that says something! I would rate this one Very Light on Oil(I like Phở Oily, though I have had some that were too much) and Mild on Flavor, meaning it was not a stronger flavor. I said very Nice! Our Server was very Pleasant. Personable and spoke Perfekt English if that matters to you… He described the Lemongrass Dish very well and was very Patient and Attentive! Chef came out and spoke to each person at each Table to see how everyone liked the Food! This always impresses me! Wide Open Dinning Room with a Stage at one end(I’ll get back to that)… Usually this reminds Mr. Hoy of a High School Cafeteria… NOT this time! I don’t think so! Stage Presence So many thoughts of what could potentially be done with this Stage! Visions of all the Asian Movies I’ve seen, of Clubs and Restaurants with Stage Performers, Costumes,(even if just a Police Chef uniform): : Dance, Singers, Karaōke, etc. I was going to suggest Movies, though, I’m not sure? Sadly they are not using the Stage now! Vietnamese Coffee was Pre-made, ooohps, the only Disappointment of this dine… Still, compared with most«Coffee» this was Better than Good… Only when compared to Table-Made Vietnamese Coffee this one Missed by a LOT! One miss is not going to make me want to give this experience less Unilocal stars! I can NOT count! I told you!

I love this place. Really tasty Phở with great grilled meats and appetizers. I’m always sad that there aren’t more people here. Phở is great and everyone should come try it. Just imagine a huge bowl of noodles in a flavorful broth with onions and spices with a side of tasty grilled meats. The staff are very kind and attentive and the food is always good. The restaurant space is huge, and not all of the interior space is being used for seating so it’s a little intimidating inside but I promise you will love the food. :)

I want so much to love this place. My GF and I have eaten here probably 10 times over the last year and have always enjoyed the food. She always gets the #13 Phở Thai and I have normally gone for the Bön Bo Hue(been on the special menu for about 8 months). However, the last couple of times we have gone we have not been impressed with the cleanliness, and it has kinda put us off. The sauce(Hoisin and Sriracha) bottles on the table are normally sticky/dirty, and the last time we went we saw a couple of dead bugs, which appeared to be cockroaches, next to them. This was very disappointing, as the place is always empty(which should give them time to ensure each table that is used is spotlessly clean), and the owners seem to have a huge desire to do well. The chef always welcomes us when we come to eat and pleads with us to bring our friends. I struggled to give this even a 3 at this point, as we have decided that we’re going to give Phở Saigon a try now(even though it is further away), solely down to the cleanliness. A shame :(

This was my first time at Phở Vietnam, and I have to say I was unimpressed. It was just me in the huge, cavernous restaurant, and a woman(the owner?) sat in the back of the restaurant on her laptop, not paying any attention to me or anyone else. The young man who helped me was nice enough, and the service was prompt, but it felt as if something was missing. There was no joy, it seemed like the staff(the two members I saw) were miserable, and it made me feel depressed. The food was OK, it was nothing overly impressive, but the portions were huge. With so many restaurants in Roanoke, I probably won’t be back.
