Went in looking for a bottle of Amarone, which they didn’t have. Staff recommended another bottle which was similar. They were beyond knowledgeable and helpful. The selection was pretty slim, but I was happy with the wine and local beer I picked up.

The owner of the Wine Gourmet, Kimberly, is friggin’ amazing. I have brought her my menu, and she suggests wine pairings so perfect I cannot even begin to tell you. It makes for a very enjoyable dinner party when the wine is just right.
You must try the Wine Gourmet– they have all types of wines in all price ranges and they are extremely knowledgeable. I so enjoy their input anytime I want to try something new and I learn so much everytime I go. Did you know that Oregon makes great wines?
They have expanded their very interesting beer selection as well… go check it out.

There’s not a lot of choice as far as beer and wine goes in Roanoke. Luckily, we do have a little choice beyond the Kroger beer and wine aisles thanks to Wine Gourmet. This is a tiny store of 581, but the inventory is of impressive variety, and the staff is enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
Additionally, they have beer and wine tastings every Friday and Saturday. Free beer and wine! For everyone (who is over 21)! What could be better?
