Most of the DJs I know rent from EMI Audio, when they have gigs at venues that lack a sound system. So when a couple friends of mine asked me to MC their wedding at the Minnesota Zoo(which doesn’t have a sound system), it was a no brainer as to where to go. The DJ I worked with(DJ Tyrone) suggested I ask for two hi packs(huge thigh-high 15″ speakers) with stands, and quarter inch cables. I called several days before to make the reservation. They just asked for my name, contact information, and credit card number. The next day, I picked them up. Below is the breakdown of the costs: –Speakers: $ 60 each.(You should get at least two.) –50 Ft Quarter-Inch Cables: $ 2 each. –Stands: $ 5 each. –Wireless Mic And Accessories: $ 37 Regarding their staff, they’re very knowledgeable and friendly. They answered every question I had without any eye rolling or hesitation. The only thing EMI Audio could improve upon is getting better speaker stands. The speakers did not snuggly fit into the holes, and considering that they are worth almost up to a couple grand, they should rest on something a bit more secure. Other than that minor complaint, I would definitely use EMI Audio again in the future!

My family and I had to play at a wedding in Woodbury. We’re from Atlanta, so I had to manage this all long distance. Found these guys through a recommendation from Capitol Guitars, where I was renting the instruments. I worked with Chris, who responded all along the way, even though I was AR about things and bugged him to death to make sure I had it all lined up. Everything went off like clockwork. The equipment was perfect, and he even helped with a couple of last-minute items. Gave me some help/advice on matters with which I am a little less familiar, as well. Looked to me like these guys would have just about anything you’d need for an A-V show. Someone in the wedding party had also put me in touch with another A-V company, as well, and they wanted 3 to 4 times more than EMI for the same setup. It was a great experience and a very affordable one. Much appreciated!

**** EMIRENTALSISNOTCLOSED **** They did move to a larger facility in Robbinsdale from their old place on Johnson St. This is by far … hands down … the best place to go for any of your Pro Audio & Lighting needs whether it be rentals or purchasing New. everyone there is extremely helpful and the owner Tim is hands on and will be sure that you are taken care of properly. Go check them out !! I did a number of years ago and am still a loyal and devoted customer of theirs. Mark Butler BUTLERPRODUCTIONS

Tons of equipment, pretty well maintained, with an incredibly helpful in-store staff. Price can’t be beat. I would definitely suggest using them if you need any kind of audio/visual equipment.

Good sound reinforcement gear and plenty of it. They appear to keep it very well-maintained; what I rented was in very good shape. Excellent prices. Unlike most production equipment rental houses, most items here look to be on a five-day, rather than one-day term. I found the staff quite helpful and friendly.
