Carol’s is one of those«off the beaten path» joints for certain. When you pull up in the parking lot and get out of the car, you know right away country cookin’ is going on. The aroma is unmistakable. My party hadn’t been seated more than 2 minutes when a HUGE basket of yummy hush puppies came out while decided what to order. They were delicious(little or no onion is the key, in my opinion). The menu is not vast but covers most of your down-home basics and changes every day. Carol’s is open Tuesday — Sunday and offers buffet Thursday — Sunday for lunch. Two in my party had the chicken pie(now a third name for Chicken N Dumplins or Chicken Pot Pie, depending on your location in NC) and one had BBQ. No complaints from anyone. The sides could have been seasoned a touch more but they were portioned generously and cooked just right. Try the sweet potato puddin! We didn’t have room or time for dessert but will sure try next time. The warm, inviting staff and down home country feel of Carol’s is one of their biggest assets. Just plain nice folks. If you like country cookin, you simply must give Carol’s a try. Carol’s: B+
