Gamers Paradise

Went in there earlier to browse and noticed none of the games had prices on them. Didn’t like that. Nice selection of games but I wasn’t digging the fact that I’d have to ask about every game I was curious about to see if buying it would be a good deal. What’s weird is that they do have «Used» stickers with barcodes on all of the game cases, so they made an effort but they didn’t include actual pricing on them.

As far as places go to boost up my old SNES or N64 collection this store has a wide selection for me. They have a whole touch screen computerized data base you can look up right in the store. All the classic Nintendo stock is behind the glass case or stored in the basement so you have to really check with an employee to see what they have in stock and or view the product condition. They get new collections all the time and some of their files need to be updated. I try to shop around on the internet and other stores so I know what games I can get for what price. Sometimes this place is just the better option due to shipping and handling cost and other factors. For example, my last visit I purchased Donkey Kong Country 2 for 23 dollars and some change. That is usually the ballpark price online for just the playable cartridge in decent condition. If were to buy this game online it could have been a lot more depending on the shipping and handling, value based on the seller, and or driven up by bidding. It’s good to have these little shops around the area that still sell these games simply for this reason alone.
But they also have snacks and soft drinks, other gamer paraphernalia, a slightly newer selection of used games from more popular systems, and a space to rent out for video game parties. The game room sounds like an awesome place to have a Mario Kart 64 or tetris tournaments in the future!
So I must admit Gamer’s Paradise, you are not too shabby! Love having place like this close by.

I’ve been here many times. I was introduced because a friend of my daughter had a birthday party. Since then we have hosted our own birthday party here and attended many more. We have also just come for the gaming experience. I love this place. My kids love it, and after bringing my husband tonight, we all love it. The other reviews talk about the comfortable chairs and endless gaming possibilities. But the employees there are so amazing as well. I hear they are opening up another shop. You would be lucky if it is in your area. What a gem. Thank you! Can’t wait to go back.

What can I say, this place is amazing. First off 5 dollars an hour and you can play any video game they have on any console is amazing. I go here with my bros all the time and we have a blast. The people here are chill and now a lot about video games and there just good people to talk too. What’s best is that GP offers a rewards program and they have a really decent website.
Even if you want to try out a video game before you buy it, still it’s a great place to go. Also the gaming chairs are soooo comfy I can sit in them for hours

Awesome concept! I wish they had more screens to play on because they do get packed a lot– it would also be nice if they were open a bit later until midnight or 1 – 2 a. m on Fridays and Saturdays. Would be cool to have more places like this around the area, it’s sadly 25 – 30 minutes away from the area I’m from but still a nice chill spot to go to play older games. My only complaint would be that there are not enough screens to play on… it’s very hit/​miss on waiting to play because current players can purchase more time to play so you may not be able to anymore that night. when trying to buy used items they have to bring them up from the basement so you don’t really have your choice they just bring whichever one they choose (example: controller) it would be nice if they had a display or something of available merchandise to purchase. The staff I encountered were super friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely return again– just wish there was more reliability for knowing if a tv would be available or not since it’s not too near by where I could just drop in casually

This place was really different and cool my two friends and I went here to play some games we ended up getting there at 9:20 pm which was cutting it close they still let us play they had us create accounts which was super fast and easy
The guys that we’re working were so sweet to us they offered and showed us all the ddr games they had and then put them all down by us so we could swap out games whenever we wanted
It was nice we came late anyway because we had the whole place to ourselves it was clean and we had a blast there were so many gaming chairs and couches all over tvs with at least 3 different systems hooked up to each
They had a great variety of games as well we asked for help starting up our game and they were so kind and helpful they have a bunch of snacks by the register as well which is convent it was only $ 5 to play games for an hour which I think is a great deal they have a big parking lot but it belongs to the bank but you can still park here and not be bothered

Great place! I had my 30^th birthday party here and the staff was great and very helpful!

I came here for a friend’s birthday and I had a great time. I don’t play video games often so I don’t have any of my own consoles so it was great to be able to play retro systems all the way up to the newest available. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful and I was very surprised when I mentioned my favorite NES game from growing up and they had it! They set it up specifically for me so I was good to go for a while. Staff was very eager to help and seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs, that made the experience that much better. I’m excited to head over there next chance I get.

My son had his birthday party here and everyone loved it. Great place to have a party for kids. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Brian and Dylan were very helpful. We will be back for sure. Thanks again.

If you are looking for vintage video games don’t bother with this place. I decided to stop in here one day on my way home from lunch, it’s local and they have vintage video games so I figured it would be cool because that’s right up my alley.
So I walk in and immediately see a glass case surrounding counter with a ton of really cool vintage games and systems in it. So it sparked my interest and start asking how much some of the vintage stuff was and literally every single item I asked about was not for sale. It was explained to me that when they only have one of the items it’s just for display and not for sale. Why bother advertising that you sell vintage games if I can’t buy any?
They did have a few racks of not very rare snes, n64 and etc that I had no interest in at all. The only reason they got 2 stars and not 1 is because the kid was knowledgable for his age that worked there and they did have a few cool pieces (that I couldn’t buy).
If you want a huge selection and are actually able to purchase items then check out digital press in Clifton.

A big F-​U to Gamers Paradise!
3 years ago my son, who was 5 yrs old, was invited to a birthday party at this crap place and had never played video games before. No one told him how to use the controllers or that he had to attach the strap to his wrist. While playing the controller accidentally slid out of his hand and hit a TV. It cracked a little and they wanted ME to pay for the whole TV!!! Hellooooo! ever heard of insurance? So you allow 5 yrs old to come for B-​day parties, you dont tell them how to use your equipment then you blame them for accidents??? I never did pay for the TV, and thought the issue was settled until my son went tonight with his friends (Now 9years old) and they wouldn’t let them play!
Screw you and your stupid store!

Great idea for gamers! Great price! Fun-​nominal service! They know what they are doing!

OK, I just returned from my first excursion to Gamers Paradise and WOW… this place is amazing. I don’t even know where to begin this review. The employees were really friendly, enthusiastic, and actually knowledgable (unlike so many GameStop employees). First and foremost, it’s a gaming store. You can come here to buy the latest games, accessories, and consoles… but there’s so much more.
Gamers Paradise also has a library of older systems and games available to buy, rent, and play. NES, SNES, Genesis, Master System, N64, Gamecube, Dreamcast, Atari, Playstation… for God sakes they had a freaking Jaguar and 3DO set up in there. This place is legit.
And yes, I said buy, rent, and PLAY. They have a gaming lounge with a bunch of really nice HDTVs and leather couches/​chairs set up with basically every console known to man readily available for you to play whatever you want for a small fee ($ 5 I think).
There’s not much else to say. They do parties, host gaming tournaments, and have great hours. They’re even open on Sundays, which is rare around here. They’ll be getting my business from now on, for sure.

If you are looking to support a small business, this is it. In the tiny town of Rochelle Park you will find a great gaming lounge.
The front of the store sells video games, XBox points, etc. As you venture towards the back, it is a video fantasy world… perfect for all gaming enthusiasts be they adult casual gamers, expert teens or little kids.
*Eight huge flat screen monitors
*Comfy couches and gaming chairs
*The ability to try virtually every video game out there made by XBox 360, Playstation or WII in addition to Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, Rockband.
They also rent video games
Gamers Paradise sponsors tournaments which they announce on their Facebook page
They also do kid birthday parties/​private parties where you can reserve the entire lounge (my now teenager had his birthday party here several years ago)
And while nearby Paramus forbids retail stores to open after 11pm, the hip town of RP allows it so you can come by and get Call of Duty at 12:01am. Call ahead and Gamers Paradise will reserve your hotly anticipated video game and you can pick it up at their midnight release events.
But the really big draw here is the staff. Super friendly, knowledgable and talented gamers. I have dealt with Guy and Brian many times. Last time I stopped in, there were some rather ‘unruly’ 10 year olds who were tackling each other a la WWE on the couches. One of the owners simply said to the kids «ok guys, he’s subdued, get back to playing». The kids immediately listened. It’s nice to see owners who can relate to kids and treat them firmly but be kind too.
The adults running Gamers Paradise remember what its like to be a kid…

This is basically a console arcade, which just so happens to sell video games as well.
For retail purposes, since they’re a small operation, they don’t benefit from the same promotional deals that GameStop or Best Buy do, but the prices are standard, the selection is great, and they have always been fully stocked with whatever I’m looking for. The perfect place for 0-​day software that you forgot to pre-​order, or are kicking yourself over passing on after everyone else you know got it.
HOWEVER, the draw here is the staff and the console arcade.
They have every console you can imagine. They have recently been expanding into the retro-​gaming scene, and have VASTLY expanded their consoles on display. They have the newest generation (as well as a few 3d tvs, which is a great touch), as well as 3DO, NES, SNES, Master System, Genesis, etc. I doubt they have every system out there yet, but seeing the big ugly Virtual Boy on the counter assures me that they’re working on it.
Also, the gaming chairs they have (some displays have couches or love seats instead) are super comfortable, good way to test out how that works for you if you’ve ever considered buying your own.
The staff is awesome. The owners are good guys. Knowledgable without being obnoxiously nerdy, and definitely care about keeping your business.
They allow you to test run games before you buy, play by the hour, and also host gaming parties and competitions/​tournaments.
I know, online shopping and GameStop pretty much provide any gamer with what they need retail-​wise, but I’d rather support this place. They actually care about what they’re doing, and provide an awesome gaming experience if that’s what you’re looking for.

Passed by on the way to the Plaza and figured I can grab a game here and not deal with the parking situation. This place is more of a new school arcade than anything else… the staff was helpful and I was able to try out a few titles before i picked out my games. Got to try PS3 in 3D which was awesome and ended up grabbing NHL 11, Black Ops, and another controller. Prices were the same as anywhere else so all in all I was happy. They had signs up for competitions but I am not that much of a hardcore gamer but a def. a great idea. I may see if i can have my son’s birthday party here.
