First went to a Community Breakfast invited by a friend of mine.
Met Bishop David J. Singleton and heard about a voluntary program in PS17 «Help Me Read».
What this program does is recruit volunteers to tutor children in reading. I joined immediately.
The progress and enthusiasm of the children in participating in this program is overwhelming.
I didn’t think I would help so much these children, but not only I can notice the progress, the teacher feedback was mind blowing.
Helping others, especially children is such a rewarding deed, considering that Roc is #2 in the nation in children’s poverty level.
