I started working with Dr. Bridge when I moved to Rochester 10 years ago. I was just starting to slide downhill, and this was about a year before I was hospitalized and diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. Dr. Bridge did recognize that I needed medication. She connected me with the awesome Primary Care Physician I still see today. In hindsight, she really needed to refer me to a Psychiatrist. I am philosophically opposed to a PCP handling psych meds unless there is a barrier in getting treatment. I give Dr. Bridge kudos in being the first person to get me thinking about meds, and I will always be grateful that she connected me with Dr. Kennedy. Dr. Bridge’s style is very non confrontational. She is supportive and sincere. At that point in my treatment, I needed someone to get in my face a little. My behavior was getting more and more out of control and self destructive, and I should have been referred to a day hospital program. The pace at which we were moving was not enough. I don’t even remember my last appointment with her. I think I just gave up. Dr. Bridge is definitely a therapist who can help people with their life goals. I believe she is a good person who sincerely enjoys working with people. If you are a stubborn person like me who needs someone to challenge you… she is probably not the best fit. I would definitely recommend her to someone I feel could benefit from her therapy style.
