Chili Hots

There are a lot of pretty girls in Chili. I call them «Chili Hots.» They have a restaurant named after them. It’s called «Applebees.»
In all seriousness, this is yet another Rochester-​area «Garbage Plate» spot, which also has red hots and white hots (different types of hot dogs) made by Zwiegle’s (the most popular local Rochester dog-​maker. Woof). Open extremely late, just like my mother.
I skip the Garbage Plates these days (way too unhealthy), but if you’re grabbing Black Raspberry Ice Cream across the street (from the 24-​hour Byrne Dairy), and you fancy a dog, come over here for a White Hot. They’re pretty good. Not my fave in the area, but a solid 4 out of 5 hot dog with mustard, onions and the delicious meat sauce.
Speaking of meat sauce, are you busy later?

Great for a late night garbage plate. I haven’t had a bad one yet, it’s just not something I would eat all the time. It’s greasy and definitely not good for you.

Been here a number of times and while I haven’t tried more than a few things on their menu (I tend to just stick with my favorites) the things I have tried are pretty good… about average for this type of place. My only complaint so far on the quality of the food is that their mac-​salad is a bit bland. Their prices are pretty decent and they have a number of different specials throughout the week. They tend to be a bit slow if there are more than a couple in there at a time and I’ve only ever seen one person working in the back at any given time… so obviously if one person is doing all or the majority of the kitchen work then you should expect to have to wait a bit longer if there a more than a few customers there. If you are ordering your food to go, I would recommend checking your order when you get it before you leave. We have gotten our order to go on three different occasions and all three times we got home to find that they had messed up the order (leaving things out, giving us the wrong stuff, etc.). If you’re staying there and eating then sometimes it can be a bit loud… though this is usually the fault of rude obnoxious customers who feel the need to use their «outside voice» to have a conversation with the person sitting right next to them. Part of the noise also comes from the fact that they will sometimes leave the door open so your stuck listening to the stereo of every jerk that drives by or is waiting for the traffic light near the plaza with their car stereo blasted… often times you’re stuck listening to that even if they do close the door. So if you’re looking for someplace to have a reasonable amount of peace and quiet while you eat your meal, this is unfortunately not the place to go.

Best hots on the west side! Fairport hots is slightly better but I lucked out with this place right down the street. Been there with at least 10 different people over the past few years and every single one of them think its outstanding.

When they say the best in the West, they are not kidding. Hot sauce is amazing. They have many items to choose from, but their plates are better than Tahoues. Consider yourself lucky if you arrive on when Justin and crew are working, they are the best anywhere.

Cheeseburger plate= mediocre at best. Home fires taste like they haven’t changed their oil in ages, burgers are small, hot sauce is worst in Rochester, tastes like hot dogs and they don’t use enough unless you pay for extra… which it is not worth. Macaroni salad doesn’t have any flavor. Girl at the front counter wasn’t that nice either. Overall wouldn’t get it again. This isn’t the first time it’s been this bad. Lesson learned, choose a different place for a garbage plate.

2 years ago I went on a garbage plate eating binge when I lived downtown trying to find the best one in the city, it was marks Texas hots then the tried and true bill grays. Then I moved out here and now live right down the street from this fuckin gold mine, best plates in the 585, hands down!!! I’m getting closer and closer to that heart attack, one bomb ass plate at a time.

Put on hold 4 over 5 min… we were close by that time. so we went in 2 order… the place was empty… NO HEAT… it was so cold for me and my daughter… very lousy service 2… where’s the owner. he obviously doesn’t Train his employees… makes me feel the owner cuts corners in other areas…

Mac salad is kinda plain but burgers are great and food is always I mean always hot and fresh. Never has fries or burgers sitting on the grill soaking in Greece fat. On downside besides the plain tasting Mac is the turn over of counter people always new people who don’t know what’s going on.

A quick stop during a visit into Rochester got me and a couple friends in Chili Hots for a quick dinner.
Fast service, friendly help.
Got Chili Hot’s version of the garbage plate, with white hots, the great sauce, mustard, onions, home fries and mac salad.
Filling, cheap for the amount of food I received, and my stomach didn’t hate me afterwards.
In my opinion, it’s a winner!
