Everybody loves Fox’s. They’ve always been my favorite delicatessen and seem to be everybody else’s too. Operated by the Fox family since 1929, they are a Rochester landmark and deservedly so. The menu is full of delicious soups, salads & sandwiches. Everything is fresh and delicious and the service is outstanding. If you haven’t been there, you have to go!

YUM. Fantastic Reuben and hands down the best in town. Gotta get Matzo Ball Soup as well– especially during winters here! A true deli feel to it — it’s appetizing and has character. When you’re craving a Reuben or anything along those lines just go eat your heart out because everything seems just right!

My favorite deli. I always go for matzah or Mish mosh soup. The chicken broth is clear and light — perfect food when you feel under the weather. If I’m really hungry I have classic rueben with a generous potion of tender, thinly sliced corned beef. Love it!

Our lunch was really good today. Be aware that a colossal sandwich is like a regular deli sandwich at most places so you really have to go with it. The corned beef was lean and sliced thin. the fries are great and an order is big enough for two. Our server was incredible. I will make a point to go there more often!

Tough to find. Tucked in a plaza. Décor has a cool retro feel, which I really liked. Foodwise– I ordered a cabbage role. Wow it was delicious! Very similar to what my Polish grandma used to make, so I enjoyed those quite a bit. The best part was the bread that accompanied the cabbage roll… a delicious Rye… ended up soaking up the cabbage roll juice with it. For my entrée, I had the Reuben. I have had better, but it was still good and totally edible. It is piled high and served with chips. The corned beef itself wasn’t as flavorful as I have had in other places and it was definitely lacking in thousand island dressing. Really liked the caricature drawings on the walls. particularly the one of Donald Trump. Wouldn’t go out of my way to come back, but enjoyed it well enough.

This is my second review, and the love has only grown. It took me nearly 3 years, but I tried every signiture sandwich on their Hot(Fox 1), Cold(Fox 2), and Grill(Fox 3) menu. There was only 2 things that I didn’t like, and that was the«Donald Rump» and the«Moyel.» I love Fox’s so much and am sad that my work moved to Webster. Thank you for all of the amazing sandwiches!!! And the free tshirt for finishing the«Fox Run» I’ll be back. The«New York, New York» still haunts my dreams. Love you, –me

The only reason I’m not giving them 5 stars is because they are selfishly open so few hours! They need to expand their hours and share their perfect restaurant and deli with so much more of the world. The service is super friendly, I was even offered a free brownie when I’d mentioned I’d never had one of theirs. How gracious! I’d love to be a more regular patron of Fox’s but it’s so hard to get there when they’re open. Sad face.

I love this place. When I am here I feel like I am at home. Not only is the food delicious, but there is something for everyone. Mostly it follows traditional Jewish deli fare, but also ventures into some nontraditional items as well. There are daily soup specials, and always vegan options. For the adventurous there is chopped liver, pickled tongue and stuffed cabbage. The blintzes and potato pancakes are always a treat, and you can never go wrong with the hot pastrami sandwich. They even make their own house roasted brisket, which also makes a delicious sandwich. For years they have been voted the best Reuben sandwich in the area, and I agree. They are only open for lunch, which is a shame because I would love to eat this food in the evening and perhaps even brunch, but what is there is well done well enjoyed and thoroughly enjoyable. Besides, there is takeout !

3.5 I’ve been here twice now for lunch with some coworkers. Both times we were sat down immediately by the older woman whom I believe is the owner. Overall the staff was nice, but they seem overwhelmed and a tad understaffed. I realize they are only open for a short window… but waiting 10 – 15 minutes to place an order doesn’t quiet work for my hour lunch break. Fox’s has an abundance of sandwiches selections, both hot & cold. Typical of a Jewish deli. I’d also like to note that the meat on these sandwiches towers high! In addition, they have many soup choices as well as burgers and chicken sandwiches(none which I have ordered). Lastly, take some time to peruse their cold case. It contains lots and lots of Jewish deli side dishes and jumbo pickles. Shout out to them carrying Knish’s(and in many different flavors). I was thrown off by their shape and size. I’m used to square Knish’s. They also look a bit denser than what I am used to. so, again, I have yet to try it. On my first trip I split the New York, New York and a Reuben. Reuben is a classic and pretty dang good. The New York, New York was good, but would have been great if they grilled it like the Reuben. … maybe I will request it next time! Sandwiches come with chips, which doesn’t do it for me. Second trip I noticed they did not have«appetizers» on their menu. I was jonesing for some loaded cheese fries. I asked if the waitress if they had jalapenos, onions, bacon, sour cream, and cheddar. She said Yes to each. so I asked for her to throw that on some well-done fries. It was good… but not great. The cheese wasn’t really melted, so the toppings didn’t really stick. But, it did satisfy my craving for the day. The décor– circa 80’s and ugly. I wouldn’t mind if it was a 50 — 60’s era diner. But I am struggling to get past the powder blue and pink wallpaper. Then they have all of these characterchures on the walls. Yikes! Time to redecorate folks!

It’s tough to find a real Jewish, New York deli, but this place is as good as it gets. The matzo ball soup is the best I ever had. I finished off my meal with a reuben and kinish and they were fantastic, homemade, and huge. I was completely satisfied. This is as good as it gets.

Oh, how I wish they had longer hours! I haven’t been there in forever(ONLY because I don’t work near there anymore and the hours are such that it’s hard for me to get there), but when I worked nearby I regularly went there for lunch. Rochester really needs more good Jewish food like this. I loved everything I had there and over time I had the Egg Cream, the Matzo Ball Soup, Kreplah, the Reuben, the Slaw & Order, the chopped liver(SOGOOD), latkes, stuffed cabbage, tuna, and a black & white cookie. They are pretty quick for a lunch break too! The ONLY downside I ever experienced there was in relation to one of the team members, a woman with short hair and a slight voice. I asked her if the chopped liver was chicken liver. She looked horrified and grossed out. Her eyes got huge and she shook her head and said«I have no idea, I’m a vegetarian.» Right on for vegetarians — I’m cool with that! And hey, you don’t know an answer to a questions? That’s cool too, let’s find out! But… Maybe don’t be actively, outwardly repulsed by your clientele and your own food. Just sayin’ ~ Other than that, the service was always good. And the liver was tasty as well. Nomnomnomnom.

Impressed! This is a legit deli, hands down. The«Rachel» sandwich(a Ruben without sauerkraut, subbed with coleslaw) was really great. What I really went for though was the clam chowder… which I have missed so much from home… and it was quite fine, creamy, buttery with lots of clam— the best I have had in Rochester. Very brisk business, it was crowded with about a 10 minute wait for a table, and a little pricey, but worth it.

Stopped in today for a rare treat. Had the corned beef Reuben and a pint of Matzo Ball soup which was outstanding! The menu offers a wide variety. Service was quick and friendly. Many places pretend to be authentic neighborhood delis but Fox’s is the real deal. The only to Fox’s is their limited hours, 11am-3pm Monday through Saturday.

Unfortunately I can not review the food, because I have been twice and have never been served. The first time I had my 5 year old daughter with me and after over 10 minutes waiting at the counter, I asked the woman next to me if she had been waited on yet. She had not, so we walker out. This week I tried again, but despite the fact that they are only open 4 hours a day, they locker the door and turned us away, telling us that they close at 3pm… the fact that it was only 2:40pm led me to write a bad review. Wow.

We decided to stop in for lunch. We sat down immediately — the staff was nice. Fox’s has a HUGE selection of hot & cold sandwiches(including burgers) — along with a slew of classic Jewish deli small dishes, soups and desserts. I had the Risky Brisket — the caramelized onions were so good. The serving was huge, and it comes with chips. Of course, we didn’t shy away from the side of Cajun fries — which were cooked perfectly! Three of us were able to share one serving of them. We grabbed some Canolis on the way out. Slightly expensive for a deli — but worth a stop in.

This is a really cute Jewish-turned-modern restaurant that is perfect for a business lunch. Meaty sandwiches, fantastic soups, and fast service. All meals are disguised in pop culture references and puns that your quirky Jewish uncle would love. Names like«Everybody Loves Ryeman,» «Silence of the Hams,» and my personal favorite: «Slaw and Order,» add an uncanny humor to your lunch options. Slaw and Order was a turkey, pastrami mix with cole slaw and Russian dressing. Meat was plentiful and the seemingly awkward combination worked to the sandwich’s advantage. French fries are also worth a try, but you’ll have to pay $ 3.25 extra, because you can’t sub them in for chips. The cabbage soup is also a classic. A sweet combination of tomato soup with cabbage and some other secret ingredients make this one of the best soups I’ve had. Service was fast, friendly, and helpful. 5⁄5 stars.

This is a great spot for lunch and my biggest complaint is that they aren’t open for dinners! I’ve had the pleasure of dining here and ordering takeout on many occasions over the years since my office is very closeby. This review will focus on the vegetarian and fish items, but my coworkers rave about the reuben and everyone loves ryeman sandwiches. The«Cheesy like Sunday Morning» grilled cheese is just dynamite if you like mustard and onions. It’s the perfect hearty meal for a cold winter day in Rochester, especially if you visit on a Friday and order a cup of the clam chowder which is really excellent. One of the best chowders in the area along with the Crab Shack(not Joe’s Crab Shack). The vegetarian sandwiches are all really good, the salads are plentiful, and the desserts are fantastic especially the cannoli! The staff are really friendly and quick since this place is accustomed to dealing with the lunch rush. You can eat a sit down meal here and be out the door within 30 minutes, although if you arrive at noon during the rush hour, you may sometimes have to wait for a table.

What??? I haven’t reviewed Fox’s yet? For shame… this is one of my favorite spots to go to for lunch. The menu is so vast & packed with goodies. Where to begin? First off, if you just want a deli sandwich, they’re right up there with the best in the area. Where they REALLY shine, however, is the other items on the menu. Great Reuben sandwich, hot corned beef, & I love their southwestern sandwich(which is a turkey Reuben) and, of course, the aptly named Everybody Loves Ryeman. What really get’s my motor started is the burgers… very tasty! If you want some added starch, their french fries are a treat as well. While I’l avoiding potatoes these days, I can’t help stealing a few from my lunch partner’s plate when they’re not looking! Soups are always a pleasure here as well. the soup of the day varies, but standards like Matzo ball soup & Mish-Mosh are on daily. I can’t help but order a can of Dr. Brown’s cream soda with my meal… just too good. Can you tell I’m thinking about lunch @ 9:30 in the morning? I am so there…
