This is a very knowledgeable place. The guy at counter has always be able to help me. Even if they don’t have it(which must mean it is really odd item) you will get the correct information the 1st time.

This place is everything Radio Shack used to be! Thank goodness they are still around!

Goldcrest is a magical land of wonder and joy. .. and joyness. .. it is jam-packed with electronic components. Customers are welcome to rummage through drawers in the back room or grab a flashlight and dig around in the cellar.(Mind your head with the low ceiling down there!) This is not Radio Shack– you will not get mugged by a dude in a collared shirt who will not get paid unless he sells you a cell-phone charger, even though you just came to buy a couple transistors. When I was last at the shop there were some spools of wire stacked up next to the counter, and I asked if it was sold by the foot. The owner asked how much I needed, and I said oh, maybe just twenty feet or so. Well I had bought maybe $ 25 worth of stuff already, so he said, «How about I just give you the whole thing for $ 5?» I said, «Okay.» I have no idea how long the wire is, but it’s around 22-gauge or smaller and weighs 5 – 10 pounds. Now I’m not sure just how much a foot of 22-gauge wire weighs, but I think I got a good deal. I named it «Spooly.» So if you try to avoid eye contact with anyone every time you walk into a Radio Shack, cringing at the very thought of going in there, then maybe you should stop in at Goldcrest and say hi.
