I am a resident in one of Home Properties’ DC Metro properties. I am writing this review since I believe my experiences go beyond my local property and demonstrate a problem in the corporate culture. Home Properties marking department is wonderful. One of the things that Home Properties claims sets them apart from their competitors is their pledge( ). My experience is that their pledge is little more than good marketing. I have experienced problems with maintenance, so I made some claims under the process. They say claims are resolved 3 – 4 weeks. My experience has been 3 – 4 months at a minimum. I have also experienced their employees lying about their actions in order to deny my claims. Instead of addressing the underlying maintenance issue, they have offered to let me break my lease without penalty. I have been in contact multiple times with management in the regional DC office and found their responses less than satisfactory. In conclusion, Home Properties talks a great game, but their employees don’t live up to the standards they set for themselves.
