Kamikaze Tattoo Studio

Came to Kamikaze because of Toby — I had my previous tattoo done by him at Steadfast and it still looks good 1.5 years later, so, no problems here.
It was easy to set up an appointment with him and I like the vibe at Kamikaze. Music, décor, and cleanliness were A+ and it’s a surprisingly spacious place. I was in and out after an hour. Also, you can get yum coffee next door if you do not feel too beaten up from the tattoo needle.
My tattoo looks very solid so far even though I’m not the hottest at taking pictures with my phone of it. In fact, if you take a photo from a very specific angle at the side if you cover up the one wing, it apparently looks a tad phallic. Such dirty millennial minds these kids have! Luckily, I am in total control of the angle people see my tattoo at, since it is on the inside of my arm. ;)
(also to note if you see accompanying image: I like flat images with no shading. This is not the artist’s fault. I am sure he does great shading. I just am «meh» about it)

Kyle was great. Incredibly personable, took his time, and just an overall great experience. He does specific type of tattoos/​work, so make sure he is the artist for you, but I have no complaints. I spent the better part of my day at the shop with another friend who received a tattoo from Kyle as well. Excellent experience overall.

I went to Mike for my first tattoo, a giant ship on my leg which took 3 sittings. It came out better than I ever would have expected and I receive compliments on it everywhere I go. This made me go back for 5 more tattoos and they all show the same level of quality. I have recomended Kamikaze to many friends and they all have nothing but nice things to say about the staff and shop, which is no surprise to me because the shop is always super clean and all of the artists are extremely skilled, respectful, and humble.
After being in many other tattoo shops, I can still say that Kamikaze earns my vote for the best shop in town. The level of passion and expertise shown by Mike and the rest of the staff simply can’t be exceeded. Stop in and see for yourself!

As stated by a previous review, Mike (the owner) is VERY unprofessional. I’ve gotten most of my work done by him but after multiple cancellations on his part and him not returning my calls/​messages about rescheduling, I’ve decided to take my business elsewhere. Don’t go to a guy/​support a shop that doesn’t deserve your business. There are some decent artists in Rochester, though I’ve decided to take my business out of state.

Great Experience! I’m a middle aged woman who got her first tattoo today. First of all the shop is very nice and did not feel uncomfortable for me at all. Kyle did his best to make me feel at ease and he did a Great job designing what I wanted. Seriously, I worried about the pain, it was nothing (granted, I have a small tattoo). Really… I wonder why I didn’t do this sooner!

My experience with Kyle at Kamikaze Tattoo rocked. Kyle was accommodating, professional and cool. The pricing was extremely affordable. The atmosphere is great, clean and comfortable. I’ll be back soon to have Kyle revive my older fading tattoo. Thanks again!

I decided on this studio based on reviews from multiple internet sources and the recommendations of my friends. My first impression of the shop is that it was spacious and clean with a really good vibe. I talked to Mike about the idea I had, and he seemed really enthusiastic about working with me. He seemed like a super cool, down to earth dude and I was really looking forward to my appointment.
I showed up at the scheduled day and time, and due to some unforeseen circumstances we had to reschedule. This didn’t bother me one bit, since I know Mike recently had surgery and working when you’re not feeling 100% is just terrible. He also offered to give me a little break on the price of my tattoo, which I thought was really decent of him. I left the shop that day disappointed about the circumstances, but still confident that this was the best place and the best artist for me to have this tattoo.
I showed up for the rescheduled appointment a few minutes early, and he hadn’t arrived yet. The shop was closed. I waited for 20 minutes after our appointment time, and he still didn’t show. He also didn’t call me to say something had happened. The only number I had was for the shop, and as I was leaving I left a message expressing my disappointment and overall dissatisfaction with the situation, asking him to call me. This was over a week ago, and I haven’t heard a single word from him to apologize or even acknowledge the fact that he blew off a scheduled appointment. No effort to rectify the situation has been made, and he’s the OWNER. At this point there is nothing that could convince me to go back there, I don’t care how reasonable the prices are. At least the artists at the more expensive shops show up for their clients.
