My fiancé and I absolutely love Mel’s diner. The restaurant provides a friendly and inviting environment. When we have a meal there the waitresses are very professional and informed with regards to the specials of the day. And last but not least the owner is very approachable and engages on conversation, and that sets Mel’s apart from most diners, plus the fact you never leave hungry.

We live nearby and have gone a couple of years without walking in there. I think we never wanted to since their menu wasn’t posted online. But after stopping in for the first time about a month ago, hubby and I have gone back about once per week. It’s our new easy place to go. Typical diner food, but with solid preparation and flavor. Sandwiches, burgers, pastas, soups… So far, everything we’ve had has been great. The service is solid as well. AND it’s super affordable, two of us seem to be able to eat and leave a decent tip and still get out of there for $ 20. My favorite is their vegetarian onion soup. It. Is. Phenomenal. We’ll keep going, for sure.

Food and service good but not great. I would return. The beef liver, country eggs benedict, & country steak were good.

My wife and I frequent this diner, due to its proximity to our home. The food is excellent by diner standards! I typically get breakfast(two eggs scrambled soft with wheat toast, home fries and bacon and a short stack of French toast.) and it is always good. At night I typically get the chicken fried steak. It is flavorful and has a wonderful white gravy. Like I said, the food is great, but it’s the way you are treated like family even on your first visit, which makes you want to come back. I highly recommend this place, Mel’s Diner on Mount Read is a real treasure.

Food is good. It’s a diner folks. Desserts yummy. Mile high pie ! Reuben good. Salads good. Best waitress ever. I think her name is Renee. Made the mistake of not asking for her and got an older woman who showed no interest in anything other than getting the order and getting away from us. We had a 2 year old with us and not once did she offer crayons or coloring book. The hostess happened to walk by and brought us some. Now we always request Renee.

Good is always good. I really enjoy the good here. Good breakfast to dinners. The deserts are great too. I don’t think they are anyways near popular as they were in Henrietta but still very good. It’s definitely a local diner.

I would give this place 3.5 stars. It’s a pretty solid diner with solid diner foods and good staff. The only other diner I’ve been to near this area has been Jay’s Diner and Mel’s blows Jay’s out of the water. Their food and décor is much better as is the service. I would go again if I’m in the area and would like some simple diner food.

Mel’s is always a great place to eat. Good food, reasonable prices, and friendly staff. However, our visit for dinner this evening was below Mel’s standard. Though the food was great, the service was not up to par. Our food sat in the window for nearly 15 minutes before our server brought to our table. She was not very attentive to her customers. Never stopped by to check on us and how our food was, didn’t offer refills on our beverages. Her menu knowledge is lacking. One of today’s specials was a Cobb Salad, and she had no clue what is on it. Never heard of processed turkey on a Cobb before, but it didn’t work for me sound wise, so I added grilled chicken(traditional ingredient of a Cobb Salad). Price was right, but unfortunately the below average service was reflected in our tip. Sorry Mel’s.

3.5 I honestly don’t know why it took me so long to give this place a chance, I drive past it every single day. I guess I was so skeptical because Athena’s(the place previously there) was awful. And after the food nightmares in this building I was afraid of this being just another 1star. On to the review : Typical diner with typical diner foods. I’m a sucker for the simple things in life. The atmosphere was calm, relaxed, there were 2 waitresses and a manager with perhaps 5 tables of customers, I was free to grab any open booth I wanted so I went and sat down. The menu was brought to me and it had pretty much everything I expected, lots of sandwiches, wraps, omelettes, and a handful of entrees. I ordered a chicken wrap with a side of Mac Salad. While waiting for the meal I had the chance to glance around the room and took notice that ‘most’ of the customers were older, in the 70’s range, and even so the people were cross table conversing. After that I noticed many of the people coming in being greeted by name. So if you happen to become a regular here, prepare to join the ranks. The place was incredibly comfy overall, and by the time my food came out I was pretty excited for it. It wasn’t the BEST, but it got the job done. The wrap didn’t have as much meat as I would have liked, it was about 95% lettuce, with a bit of chicken, but still enough to flavor it. The mac salad was pretty good, and the pickle slices they gave with the wrap were very fresh and crispy(I’m a bit of a pickle fiend, never give me bad pickles or I’ll hate you forever) so I was happy with that. All in all it was what I’d consider about average, and for the cost(My meal was 8 dollars exactly +60 cents tax or so) it wasn’t that bad at all. If you’re driving past and need a bite, it wouldn’t be a horrible choice. Side note: I didn’t get one, but the deserts in the fridge looked pretty amazing, perhaps I’ll stop by again for a pie some time.
