Yep– we love us some Newt’s! Specifically our Newt’s South. For me and my husband, our food experience is deeply influenced by who we share it with. We eat at Newt’s regularly– at least once, often twice per week– and we, of course, eat there because the food is predictably yummy– exactly what we are looking for. But as we’ve gotten to know the folks who work here, it’s more like going over to a friend’s house for dinner. We genuinely enjoy their company and conversation– we wouldn’t miss out on our experiences here! This place is a favorite for all the reasons– the food and service are chief among them!(Oh, and their garden salad is ridiculous. Seriously– order it once and you will know why I order it Every. Single. Time. It’s amazing!) This place was also how we chose to spend our Valentine’s day. In case you didn’t know, Newt’s is for lovers!

Stopped into this location while visiting my family from Colorado. I always loved Newts dt, but today I was beyond disappointed. I ordered a beer, and our waitress didn’t really give me any time to look at the FOOD menu before asking for my order. It would have been nice to get my drink first and given a second to look at the regular menu. SO, I was completely put on the spot to hurry up and order. I knee jerk ordered a juicy Lucy. Bad idea. Of course they say the cheese is hot, but it was also non existent. What I got was a TOUGH, over cooked(well done jucy lucy? Who does that?) EMPTY meat puck on a hard, tough roll. If you’re in town, skip Newts and try out Whistle Binkies, way better food/service. I won’t be visiting Newts again.

We’ve visited Newt’s 3 times and we’ve lowered the rating because of the inconsistency of their burgers. My wife likes her burgers cooked a certain way. She likes them well cooked on the outside with just a hint of pink in the center, so you could say Medium Well. I always get mine Medium-Rare. Even though we order our burgers with different French terms, we always get the same Temperatures at Newt’s. The first visit, both of our burgers were Medium and they were almost perfect. The second visit, both of our burgers were almost Rare and my wife wasn’t happy with her under cooked meal. Finally, on the third visit, both of our burgers were cooked past Well Done; resulting in a very dry and almost tasteless meal.

Nice and new. The service was very good but the fried cheese curds were pretty greasy. My Chicken strip platter was good and the beer was nice and cold. This is a good place to watch the games, lots of tvs. It’s a pretty large restaurant so it would be good for groups, much more room than the one downtown.

I was so glad we got one of these on the southside but my first experience wasn’t so hot. The cheese curds were great but the wings were very salty and it took a long time for our order.

We’ve had pretty good luck here but tonight was not good! We were seated right away and Kallie the server brought us popcorn and said she’d be right back. Came back 10 minutes later to take our drink order. Brought the soda order right away and took our food order. My dad always makes a special request to have just a small amount of fries and its really important to him not to have food waste. Kallie was pretty rude and said«I can’t guarantee anything because I’m not in the kitchen.» What? So, the servers don’t talk to the kitchen staff? Then I saw my beer sit at the bar window for 20 minutes and she brought it to me at the same time as our food order. No apology. Burgers were ok. Marinara tasted like chili. And chicken fingers were fried in fish batter. Not sure we will be back.

This burger joint is more about the ambiance and the beers than the burgers. The burgers have no flavor and the meat is dry. They only put butter on the bun if any. The bun is a weird mix between a croissant and burger bun. Burgers don’t come with lettuce or tomatoes you have to ask for it and I understand they come with a charge $. The onion rings and french fries are good. Popcorn is good. Waiters are nice and hard workers. A good tip is to ask for a cup of their chipotle mayo… that gives the burger some flavor.

The popcorn was the best part about this lunch. The only reason Newts has won the best burger award in Rochester was because there was no place to give them a run for their money and who also focused on burgers. Wild Bills burgers crush Newts– presentation, flavor, variety and price. Ordered the potato zippy things and they were awesome. Had mushroom/Swiss burger. $ 11 Mushrooms out of a can, soggy bun Server was just OK. Never refilled water. Thank goodness we had a gift card. I would have been even more disappointed if I had to use my own $ to pay for this mediocre $ 32 lunch. Won’t rush back.
