The only bad thing I can honestly say about this guy, is that now I cannot let anyone else touch my hair. This guy is oldschool and very skilled. He is not trying to turn over his chair in 15 minutes, and he is patient because he wants you to get a damn good haircut. This guy knows his stuff and is awesome to talk to. He is willing to try it your way every step of the way while suggesting what comes from his own expertise. He doesn’t want to just take two numbers and clip your hair. I’ve paid the same for a lot less service and a lot worst haircut-wise. He washes it, cuts it, and washes it again, so you can actually go to work or hangout afterwards. I’m going to get my haircut more often now just because he does such a damn good job. I love how simple his setup is, and how devoted he is to his craft.

Best haircut I’ve got in a while Pal JOEYTHEBARBER is very personable and gives you his utmost attention. You will feel you are in a good hands as this guy has many years of experience and has studied hair cutting with some of the top professionals in New York. Yet you have a comfortable relaxing environment as I almost nodded off while he was cutting my hair and when I opened my eyes I was very pleased to see a professional haircut not a chain(supercuts) hair chop …

This guy is just fantastic. He explains everything along the way, and if you aren’t completely sure what you want, he walks you through the process until you end up with something you are completely satisfied with. He uses some techniques I had never heard of before and gives tips about how to care for your hair in the future. The best part about the experience were the styling tips. I knew I wanted to get a professional look, and he showed me what to do, and even had me do it there while sort of coaching me through the process. Two shampoos, cut, and style in about an hour. Definitely found my barber in Rochester.

Very nice guy. My boyfriend went here, and Joey(the barber) took the time to make sure that he cut his hair exactly he wants it. $ 17 for a wash, cut, wash and style.

Joe talks through you the process– and his process is satisfying exactly what you want done. He knows many techniques — he was trained and tutored by THE Paul Mitchell, himself and by American Crew. He has genuinely good conversation and lets you know that ‘If you’re not comortable with any piece of hair, let me know, i want what you want!” *He also stayed open after hours!

What a fantastic experience! This is a one man show, and if you try to walk in during popular hours, you may have to come back. I walked in and he asked me very graciously if I could come back in an hour. As soon as I returned he was ready for me and got right to work. As someone who has been many times to chain places(for a similar price even), this was a breath of fresh air. As a guy on whom the chain place spends about 15 minutes tops on his hair, this was great! Joey spent a good 45 minutes on my hair from start to finish, including 2 shampoos in the sink and catering to my every request. He even used some interesting techniques that I hadn’t seen before(being a former chain customer), and I learned a lot because he explained each method along the way. We had a great conversation that made the time fly about as fast as my hair, and I got some great info on the local area since I told him I was new here. Bottom line: Really great local place with charm. You and your hair get lots of attention and look great when your finished. All this for a reasonable price! I’m definitely going back.
