There are few to none motels/hotels around this area offering any discount coupons( ), compared to other similar areas in America. Also, properties here appear to get booked up early(before 6pm) – even on a weekday! This Red Carpet emerged on the right as I was driving, so I checked it out, was able to find a two bed, non-smoking for just over $ 50 +tax. After making several previous phone calls and pressed for time, I felt this was a good deal. The offered room had older furniture, smelled lightly of mold, cable didn’t work well – could only get about 4 channels. The entrance hallway was hot, lacked air conditioning ventilation, but was clean. Some questionable transients loitered the parking lot, looking inside cars as if they want to break into them, I moved my car closer to the entrance door for protection. To find a better place in the day or night would cost at least $ 30 – 50 more, and probably with no quality guarantees. NOTICE: I was VERY impressed with Rochester, the Mayo Clinic, the peacefulness and helpfulness of locals, the numerous tall skyscrapers for a «small town»(I grew up in a very big city known for lots of downtown skyscrapers!) and the cleanliness and spiffiness of this and other areas of Minnesota!

A very nice hotel for a very nice price. Clean comfortable rooms. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable if you are visiting Mayo Clinic. The photos are true to what we experienced.

Since my previous«go to» hotel in Rochester kept raising it’s Mayo rate, I decided to give Red Carpet Inn a chance based on on line reviews, price, and value. I was not disappointed. I usually travel to Rochester with my son and arrive in the evening, stay one night, have an early morning appointment at Mayo, then check out. Our needs are pretty simple: a clean, safe place to sleep for the night. Online room reservation was easy. The Mayo rate was very attractive. We received a polite and helpful welcome at check-in. The room was fine — very clean with only one questionable mark on a wall. It is obvious that the owners take great pride in providing a nice experience for their patrons. The free wifi was great. Easy to connect and fast. The complimentary continental breakfast was fine for grabbing something quick before heading to Mayo. Check out was fine. The only negative of the stay — and it was pretty insignificant — was that the hallways seemed to be a bit stuffy, no doubt due to the unusually warm weather. As with many other area motels, a free shuttle to Mayo was available. However, it worked out better for us time-wise to drive ourselves. If you are looking for a decent, inexpensive place to stay, you will not be disappointed at the Rochester Red Carpet Inn. We plan on returning in the future.

PROS: Friendly and helpful staff(Amit is wonderful), relatively quiet, cheap, shuttle to Mayo(turns out every motel offers this last one), non-smoking property, walking distance to Walmart, relatively spacious room CONS: in need of updating, toilets must be coaxed to flush, thin towels, burn hole in blanket(non-smoking property, remember), small TV Bottom line: It is not terrible but for a little extra money you can do better.
