As you may know by all my check ins, I love Roc the Barre. It’s part of my weekly routine(when I’m being consistent I try to go at least once a week mixed in with other workouts) and I often go after work. It’s my favorite way to de-stress. She’s recently moved to a new studio that has more space in East Rochester, which is why I’m updating my review. This is no dance class. It’s strength training through and through focusing a lot on butt, thighs and abs. It’s up to you to push yourself so do it and keep crunching, squeezing and plié-ing. As I’ve shared before, Kerry is super sweet and does a great job targeting muscle groups you didn’t know existed or haven’t ever used in your life. It helps when she counts down to let you know how many reps you have left so you can get that extra kick at the end, then collapse. It helps having Kerry do the moves and watching yourself in the mirror to correct your positioning. The only part that remains the same in each class is the beginning warm up and the final stretch. Everything in between is a mix of different thigh, butt, and ab workouts with the barre. My favorite is butt torture — a series of moves you’ll either love or love to hate. It targets all those hard to reach areas with small, but nonstop movements. My legs are super strong these days! My favorite day is throwback Thursday when she plays 90s jams. Would love some new pandora stations mixed in on the other days — I could really workout hard to some of the new stuff on the radio to mix it up. Shake it off. Literally.
