Sears, you great big box store anachronism… how do you stay afloat? I’m kidding, of course, but Sears *has* been giving folks that«I’m going to close soon» vibe for many years. The electronics department is now half-filled with cheap furniture. Don’t get me started on their«Sears-O-Pedic» mattresses and their worthless comfort warranty. Their clothing line is now all made in the pacific rim… Nepal, Pakistan, Vietnam & China. The only thing that keeps me coming back is a) tires b) clothing clearance and c) using my «Shop Your way Rewards» point on clothing clearance. «Don’t worry, Jake… it’s only Sears» is my new mantra.

Do you like quality customer service, and a company who stands behind their products? If so DONOTSHOP at Sears. A 4 month old lawn mower, engine blew. They said the oil was dirty and therefore not covered by warranty. the mower was not yet due for an oil change per the Manuel.

I don’t even know why I am writing a review for a chain store but this location is particularly horrible. Whole place has gone down hill since the Kmart merger. This store looks and feels like the Kmart of department stores. Went in to try to use one of their in store coupons and like everything else had a problem. Tried to speak to manager but wouldn’t come out. Only said no over the phone. Have spent $ 1000 plus in the last month and they aren’t going to honor a $ 2.00 coupon they issued? Tried to call store and manager doesn’t pick up phone goes right to voicemail. I will not be retuning. Better tools at Lowe’s or Home Depot anyway.

This branch found in the Greece Ridge Mall simply doesn’t make the cut compared to other department stores. If you choose to shop for clothes here, be warned… some of the prices are a little outrageous and thier selection is pretty weak, but the clearance racks are always something to check out. Electronics are a hit and miss with limited televisions and cameras and little to no help by the employees. The appliance area isn’t too horrid, but it suffers from a lack of selection and like the electronics, no employee to be found. I do like the tool and patio items for sale which is what I will come here to look at most of the time. Medicore at the most… there are better options around Greece, this happens to not be one of them.

This particular location is in the Greece Ridge Center mall at the end of a long corridor where Friendly’s, Radio Shack, Barnes and Noble, Payless, and Dress Barn line the hall. When you walk in from the mall entrance, the quaint dept store greets you with racks of women’s clothing along the periphery and the jewelry lies ahead of you. Shoes are right around the corner and as you proceed deeper into the store, you see men’s clothing, lingerie, etc… At some point you’ll come across some housewares and then the appliance section. It’s actually a relatively decent selection of brand name items. Washers, dryers, microwaves, vacuum cleaners, TV’s, boomboxes, headphones, lawn and garden stuff… the list goes on and on. Prices are not bad, perhaps a bit higher due to its location in a mall. I haven’t really purchased big appliances and things of that nature so it’s hard to comment with an objective view. I rarely buy clothes from the mall, but they have a decent selection of men’s clothing. The service was poor when we went in. I went with my fiancée and her mom to find a vacuum cleaner. There were no less than 8 employees there who were standing around either chatting with one another or watching a basketball game on TV. It took maybe 5 – 7 minutes before one of them came over to ask if we needed help. And even then, she looked like she would rather be watching the game. Fortunately, being a fairly resourceful person, I was able to gather all information I needed from my phone and didn’t require their help(or lack thereof). We ended up going to Target for a vacuum cleaner instead. I hope the service thing was an isolated incident, because Sears, once an empire of greatness, is slowly crumbling into dust.
