We stumbled upon this hotel from Hotwire, its in a great area, right on main street in Rochester, nice. $ 40 a night for a room big enough for 3 people, with wifi, coffeemashine, fridge, microwave, free paper and magazines. It’s a bit outdated, pink tiled bathrooms but it was clean and the check in was fast and easy. In all ok for a night but for a longer stay I’d go elsewhere.

The Spartan is like a south Warren motor lodge with a pretty outside. I shouldn’t be so harsh, but for years I’ve found the management very annoying at this place. Back when I was… ahem, more of a party animal, we’d rent a room either to just get the hell out of the house, or to have a room that we didn’t have to clean after the night was out.(Doesn’t anyone do hotel parties anymore?) Actually, when I put it like that, it’s no wonder management was pretty rough. They’d often call up randomly saying that there were complaints, when I know for a fact that the surrounding rooms were unoccupied. If there’s five other guests for the night that are all outside on the opposite side of the building… well, who’s complaining? The prices were fair enough: $ 60 a night for a pretty big and fairly clean room. I never did the blacklight test here, and I don’t think I’d want to… just for piece of mind. I guess I’d only suggest using the motel for the same reason that we used it for years and years. This winter I stayed here for reasons other than party-related… and it was a chore to sleep because, it seems, that the legacy of partying lives on. Locals are more interested in using it so they don’t have to clean up the mess… not any of that restful sleep junk.
