Visited twice, rude employees both times. Pizza was average. Don’t intend to return.

A solid place to stop in downtown Rochester for New York style pizza. Decently priced, but feel like it should be a bit cheaper. Got mushroom and Buffalo style pizza. Mushroom left me wanting more flavor, but the Buffalo style was very good. They have a collection of beers as well.

I held higher expectations for Pizza Stop when I first went there, because this place is well known for their NY «Brooklyn style» pizza supposedly. I had to see for myself. Instead of getting a few slices that have been sitting out, I figured I’d just get a large pepperoni pizza to see how good it was in its freshest state, which is what I generally will do. First thing I noticed was that the slices aren’t very large, either as a whole pie or single slices, which was a bit disappointing. There are many other locations that have larger traditional thin NY style slices in the Rochester area. After eating around 4 slices, There was a good neutral consistency in all the ingredients and nothing overpowering. Sauce was decent, cheese was okay too. I can’t expand on the taste because it was just«typical» tasting. The crust wasn’t very spectacular, nor did the appearance of it look all that great, just average and somewhat under baked actually. I wouldn’t say it really popped in anyway, just average convenience pizza. Setting the hype aside, I do like the graffiti theme indoors, and the name«Pizza Stop» to me is very old school and part of me likes the ambiance of the place more than their actual pizza.

The Pizza Stop is it! It’s gold. I had heard so much about Pizza Stop but never made it out to try it until one day, a large pie was delivered to me and I was finally face to face with Pizza Stop. It did NOT disappoint. It exceeded my expectations actually. I was highly impressed with the flavor and the thin crisp crust. This is my new top spot for pizza, that is for sure!

FINALLY I get here… But glad I did. Here we go. I usually judge a place on the cheese pizza. I got cheese for one slice and pepperoni and sausage for the other. Just DAYUM! They were good. The right amount of cheese, sauce and toppings. I’m not one for pepperoni(I’m from Chicago so give me a break) but it was really tasty and the sausage had a kick to it. The crust you might think oh lord it’s flimsy. But oh no as you get closer to the end of that piece it’s crispy like a cracker and delicious. You will eat the whole piece of it. It’s all eatable. Seriously that crunchy end its perfect. They have so many other pizza slices to try. White w/Garlic, Buffalo the list is fairly endless. They are also known for their garlic knots and they also do a cinnamon roll type it looked delicious. The husband had the pepperoni he deemed it «excellent» I will be back. I would suggest getting two slices oh yes they are huge but this place has a line no joking around. So do yourself a favor and get two pieces. Ok the deets… Parking on street and you gotta pay for it… They do deliver but only in the immediate area. No joking around if your on the phone they will not take your order! Slices are under $ 3.00 and if you wanna use credit/debit cards it’s a $ 5.00 minimum. They do have beer in bottles from Rorhbach, Labatts and a few others. Soda and etc in bottles and cans. It’s old school, plenty of tables and looks like a pizza joynt. Staff is fine I’m a curmudgeon so I’m down with it… Salute!

Pizza Stop has changed my life. I used to think, «meh, pizza is OK. Not my favorite food, but good» until I experience their sesame chicken pizza. What a beautiful creation. The broccoli, the red onions, the tangy sauce, ugh. Their buffalo chicken is also ten times better than any buffalo chicken pizza I’ve had while living in ROC. Definitely my go place to whenever I want to go out with work friends for some lunch downtown or alternatively, when I want to sit by myself and devour some beautifully crafted specialty pizza. Do yourself a favor and go to Pizza Stop today, tomorrow, and for the rest of your life.

If you are in the area this is THE place for pizza. This is very typical NYC pizza. In Rochester it is an oasis. No other pizza place in Rochester or the surrounding area that offers by the slice pizza touches this place.

My one coworker swears by this place. I have been her twice for lunch and I really liked it. The pizza slice are big and the price isn’t bad. The artwork on the wall is a great touch!

This place is sooooooo good, believe the hype! The red sauce is good, the white is good, the Buffalo chicken is good. Always a good selection of fresh pies with quick friendly service. The prices are very reasonable.

If there are other«by the slice» pizza places around town I don’t know about them and if there are it would be hard to fathom that they would be as good as the Pizza Stop. This long time downtown institution is a simple set-up: stand in line, order your slice(s), the guy behind the counter grunts at you, he pops’em in the oven, you pay, you get your hot slices, you devour them. Nice thin crust, NY style slices. The pepperoni is very good as is the white garlic. Perfect! The garlic knots are also very good. I just wish I worked closer so that I could come here for lunch as often as my wife does…

It was really good, but I’ve had better. It is the real deal NYC thin crust oil dripping slices. I just had better, but it might have been the sauce and it maybe just my taste. You will not go wrong going here that is for sure. Rock on Pizza stop.

I am absolutely appalled that this place refused to make a special delivery to a location just 3 miles away from the shop. I was so excited to pay for«the best pizza» for friends of mine who are going through the most difficult time of their lives, in the hospital with an infant who just had surgery on her skull! What’s worse is that not only did they refuse but also a manager wouldn’t even get on the phone with me! Shame on him. The website states somewhere that arrangements can be made if a manager is involved before hand. But alas, the manager doesn’t even execute the common courtesy of coming to the phone. A simple conversation would have been much more professional.

My second favorite pizza in town. First, the crust: it’s perfect. You pick the slice up, looks floppy, but dammit if there isn’t a crispy little layer on the bottom of each bite. The toppings, well not super awesome. We tried a variety of slices and none had much flavor. One of the cheese slices we tried had a little extra sauce on it and that was good, not great but good. It’s just really thin, greasy, crispy pizza, and that’s one of the real joys in life. Not a bad value either: seven slices and four sodas for $ 20. Nice. I was going to go four stars, but they get an extra for atmosphere. The art on the walls is great. I don’t know if they chipped away at plater to reveal bare brick in spots on purpose, or if they found the walls that way and created art to go with the damage, but it’s a great job either way. I still prefer Brooklyn Joe in Henrietta for the pie itself, but I’ll be back at pizza stop for sure, especially since it’s Christmas shopping season and I wouldn’t drive anywhere in henrietta if you paid me.

This awesome hole in the wall lived up to its expectations. They moved from their next door location i assume because it was bigger? anyway, the pizza was amazing if you like flat bread. the garlic knots were to die for. and the art/recognition on the walls were nice. i like how they didn’t make it really look like a hole in the wall. it was clean enough and reminded me of a pizzeria i went to in NYC! enough pizza’s to choose from, so i had a hard time deciding but the price was decent enough where you don’t feel guilty to get more than two. be careful though because the slices are huge! i was so full after two. next time i want pizza and i’m downtown i will definitely go here again! However we were in webster and wanted pizza so we decided to drive to this location. It says they deliver so i hope they deliver where i am! the only thing they could change actually is the friendliness. they were kinda grouchy looking haha

Fantastic! Hands down the best pizza in Rochester. New York-style pizza that can hold its own against most pizza places in NYC. Pizza is thin and has perfect cheese-sauce-crust ratio. Crust has a bit of crunch and char. Having been to some of the best pizzerias in the US– Frank Pepe’s in Connecticut and Antico Pizza in Atlanta– I would say that Pizza Stop is a level or two(or three) below them. Pizza Stop is not in the same league– but the fact that I am even mentioning these places in the same paragraph, should give you some sense that Pizza Stop is legit. The only downsides to Pizza Stop are their location and hours. If you aren’t able to make it to downtown during lunchtime on a weekday, then you won’t be able to try their pizza. But honestly, if I ran a pizza shop, I am not sure I would do things any differently– they do very brisk business during lunch(the line was running out the door when I visited).

When I think about the best pizza that I have ever tasted, this is the first establishment that comes to mind. I like my pizza a certain type of way where the grease levels are low but the cheese level is high. I really didn’t believe that any such pizza joint would have that certain taste that I was looking for but this is still the only pizzeria that satisfies my needs, despite the long drive from where I live. I used to visit their old location frequently but have only been to the new location once and I can say it’s a drastic improvement over the previous area. Not only is the store much more open and airy, it’s very clean which is near hard to find for a pizza place. On the downside, when you walk inside, most of the time you will be faced with a long line depending on which time of day you go but the line does start to move by rather quickly so it isn’t that much of a long wait but it does give you time to think of what you want to order as their are so many options to choose from. I don’t stray far from the classic cheese or pepperoni pizza so that is usually what I go for when I order it out to bring it home to the family. In my own opinion, this is a true example of a New York Style pizza. The cheese to sauce ratio was near spot on at all accounts, the crust was not crunchy but not overly fluffy, and each bite kept the cheese on the pizza instead of falling off into a greasy mess. You can choose what size of pizza you want but I always get a large and usually have two to three slices before I call it quits… If I can that is! Once you start eating, it can be very hard to not grab another slice when you are finished so unless your feeding a crowd, stick to ordering one or two slices. In addition to pizza, I also order the garlic knots on the side for everyone else but me. These are fantastic little artery cloggers that make a great addition to Pizza Stop’s already spectacular pizza but I can’t really eat these anymore as it’s just a bit too much garlic for my taste but It doesn’t stop me from still sneaking one every now and then when my stomach calls for it. I can probably say that not everyone in Rochester has tried out Pizza Stop which is a painful thing to say considering this is certainly the best pizzeria in Rochester… in my own opinion that is. There have an endless supply of pizza’s you can try from which span from the classic red to tasty white and the topping selection is superb. I do my best to visit here whenever I can and it is well worth the fifteen minute drive and gas to return home with pizza that makes me forget about all my troubles. If you still have yet to experience the awesome that is Pizza Stop, I highly encourage you to check it as early as possible when they are not that busy. This is the closest you will ever get to having an authentic New York Style thin crust pizza, whether you want to believe it or not.

The best pizza ever. No lie. The crust is impeccable– thin and perfectly chewy. There is no way to go wrong with any of their toppings. My favorite is the Meatball Marinara, but sometimes I have to go for the Buffalo Chicken, loaded with cheese and hot sauce. Honorable mention to the Ricotta, Spinach and Tomato white pizza… garlicky and fresh. Their knots are incredible, and so are the Cinnamon version, drizzled with icing… stop. I work across the street and it’s a struggle to not go every single day. Now that they’re gonna have beer & wine… ummm. Go at off-peak times to beat the line that stretches down the block. But even so… it moves fast. Their new location is more spacious and it has bathrooms! LOVE

As a girl who is from Brooklyn herself I can honesty say that The Pizza Stop has the BEST New York Style Pizza in Rochester. They make the best thin crust pizza I have had in a long time. The atmosphere is also very cool they have great art on the walls to go with the New York City Theme. It is really amazing. They also have this awesome staff and model of doing things. The people behind the counter are so high energy and fun that it makes it impossible to no enjoy yourself when you are in there. They offer a variety of pizzas. I really love their pepperoni and mushrooms slices, but you can truly have anything you want when it comes to toppings. When you go to Pizza Stop there is something for everyone. I strongly recommend Pizza stop to anyone in need of some great sauce and yummy pizza toppings.

This is the only pizza in Rochester that is actually pizza. There’s none of this Rochester-grade«sweet sauce» nonsense going on here. This is pizza as it was meant to be prepared and consumed. This has become the only place I want to order pizza from. I’ll probably still order the occasional pizza from Little Venice since I live in the neighborhood and they’re pretty decent for a Rochester pizza, but … seriously, just eat at The Pizza Stop. I don’t care if you have to drive a bit and find parking to pick it up. Do what’s right. Eat at The Pizza Stop.

For its category of cheap, somewhat greasy pizza, Its the best! Better than all the other chains in Rochester. I ordered three pies for an office party and the white vegetarian– tomato basil pizza was a HUGE hit! I think this place excels in the creative alternatives to cheese/pepperoni pizza. They also have a pizza artist check his website out!!! I must say this is the first time I’ve ever seen someone doing something like this.

I am in love with the pizza here. I decided to try it out because it has such great reviews on Unilocal and now I can’t stop talking about it to my husband. The line was super long but it went by quickly. You should certainly know what you want from here and not wait to make you decision until it is your turn to order. Keep the line moving — It is pizza how hard of a decision is it to make what kind you want? I got a sausage and pepperoni slice with a garlic knot. It was all so amazing. The garlic knot was light and fluffy and had the perfect amount of garlic so I didn’t have super overpowering garlic breath for the rest of the afternoon. The pizza was so good I felt like it was melting in my mouth. I am a very fast eater but I found myself slowing down so I could savior every single bite of the pizza and make it last as long as possible. For my garlic knot, slice, and a can of soda I paid under $ 5.00. That is a fantastic price and helps you feel like you really ate out for lunch without the price that goes along with it. If you are talking on your cell phone you will not be served and I am incredibly happy about that, I wish more places would follow suit. I feel like with so much technology literally at our fingertips people forget to put their phones down and just be a human and experience something. It is rude to others that you literally can’t wait 5 minutes and have a human to human encounter to order pizza — I swear your friends can wait for you to order pizza and honestly once you take a bite of this pizza, you will forget you even have friends. I love it here and I will be back for lunch.

Amazing Pizza but honestly I am afraid to go back. I hated the Seinfeld«Soup Nazi» routine the workers do. I have only been there once and felt incredibly rushed to make a decision and keep the line moving. I ended up with a cheese pizza slice but I didn’t even want that. I felt like a nerdy kid in high school being beat up by the cool kids. You guys have great pizza — but the weird angry act is old and tired. I want to give them 5 stars because their pizza is honestly that amazing but I was so turned off by the act. Restaurants should not scare me!

Recently moved to a new location down State Street, The Pizza Stop is regularly ranked as one of the top pizza options in Rochester. Known for their thin crust New York style pizza, they also offer thick Sicilian style slices and garlic knots. As the signage in the shop warns, stay off your cell phone while in line to order or you will not be served pursuant the Seinfeld inspired«Soup Nazi» service policy that is in effect. The small location featuring large pizza ovens can be uncomfortably warm in the summer months, so you might want to avoid it on hot summer days. Also, try to avoid the lunch rush when lines to order stretch out the door and onto the sidewalk.

If the Hunchback of Notre Dame ran this place, it’d be the Pizza Stoop. By the way, Unilocal… this place is literally *next door*. Can’t you just edit the address rather than doing the«MOVED» thing, because now all of the scores of amazing reviews are no longer part of this listing. What to get: regular slices, specialty slices, and big sicilian pies. All amazing. If you got a free baby(delivered by bird) with every slice, it’d be the Pizza Stork. This is Rochester’s best Pizzeria, just ever-so-slightly inching(not those sorts of inches, you dirty people) ahead of Joe’s Brooklyn in Henrietta. I had a friend who was a female pizza slice, but unfortunately my friend Henry ate her(Henrietta). Ha. Ha. Ha. If the employees followed you home after you bought a slice, it’d be the Pizza Stalk. Anyway, where was I. I’ve been here so many times, they probably know my name. Okay, they don’t, but they could. Sometimes they have lines way out the door around lunch time, and so they should because all the slices here are just orgasmic. It’s New York style thin crust heaven, but they also have a bunch of heavy specialty pies including some triple layer meat paradise pizzas, which remind me of one I had at Margherita’s in State College, PA one time, and loved. Imagine three layers of pizza crust in a pie with pepperoni, cheese, ham, sausage, and hot wet luscious tomato sauce all inside the pie. It’s so damn f*cking good baby. If you were imprisoned in a Medieval Holding Device upon entering the shop, it’d be the Pizza Stocks. Make sure you come in here at lunch time, the earlier the better, so you have a huge choice(huge like my thingy) and everything is piping hot and fresh straight out of the oven. You probably won’t have to wait in line until after 12. I think 11.50 or 11.55 is probably the perfect time to get here, but even if you come later on, it’s still well worth it. It’s one of my favourite pizza places not only in WNY, but in the whole country. If it were in Buffalo it would easily be top 5 there, and if you know how good Buffalo pizza is, that is an enormous compliment. Enormous like my… oh never mind. If they sold Gorgonzola Garlic Slices, it’d be the Pizza Stink. For those who love this pizza and think I have good taste in pizza(I do!), when in Buffalo, try Imperial(the best), Mattina’s on Sheridan(similar), Franco’s on N Bailey(square slice but similar), Molinaro’s on Sheridan(a bit like Pizza Stop), Zip’s on Hertel(but mainly for the wings and eppy roll), Rocco’s on Transit(lunch time only), Chuck’s near downtown, Pizza Oven in Niagara Falls, La Paloma in Alden, Pizza Heist in Lancaster and many more. In Rochester, try Pizza Stop and try Joe’s Brooklyn too. So much good pizza in WNY, it hurts. And expands the tum tum. And if everyone here had an awful sore throat, it’d be the Pizza Strep. Pizza Stop. God’s gift to Rochester Pizza. Allah’s gift too. And if you’re not religious, then it’s Science’s gift to Nature, and Nature’s gift to you. So if you’re attractive I think you should pay Pizza Stop back by coming here for slices«au naturel». If you get arrested, I’ll bail you out. Maybe. Oh, and finally, if you do come in here au naturel, and therefore the employees have their way with you, and if you absolutely love it, then it’d definitely be the Pizza Don’t Stop.
