Cardamom lavender latte’ right next door. Awesome bakery treats. Life just doesn’t get better than this! Studio 34 Creative Art Center students and faculty vote Upper Crust #1.

So far, been there twice and it’s great! So hard to find an unsweetened matcha latte, but they have it! With almond milk, it is the most perfect treat. Would like to see vegan pastry/food options. Other than hummus sandwich and salad… If there are gluten free pastries, why not vegan? Will head back soon to try the pour over coffee!

I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, and so more often than not, I shy away from huge cupcakes covered with frosting and ganache. As tempting as they appear, usually they just end up far too sweet for me and I end up using it as an excuse to get a few more glasses of water in my system. However, here’s a place I don’t think I can stay away from. Upper Crust Cakery has truly mastered the ideal cupcake. These cupcakes are incredibly moist and flavorful. The frosting is rich, but simultaneously light and airy(how’s that possible?). Here’s frosting that doesn’t overpower the cake. The variety of flavors available is enough to stop anyone popping in for just a coffee in their tracks. I wish that the varieties were labeled though; it makes it even harder to decide when I don’t know what I’m looking at. For the super indecisive — they have a mini cupcake sampler available. I wish they sold the mini cupcakes individually as well. Plus, it’s a really great place to get work done. I love the large, bright, open space. Short and tall tables available with outlets at all of them. Heck yeah! I haven’t tried many of the drinks. I’d recommend skipping the hot chocolate here though.

I will not ever be able to express in words how delicious and happy these cupcakes made me. They were moist, well seasoned, subtle yet well rounded. They were perfectly satisfying and SO. DELICIOUS. And for the record, I got the sampler. Here’s the breakdown: My favorite was the carrot cake cupcake. The cream cheese frosting was surprisingly light and airy. It was a perfect compliment to a subtly cinnamon-and-nutmeg cake. Really, the best of the bunch for me BYFAR. Next up was the cookie dough cupcake. It wasn’t overly sweet but it was definitely cookie dough. The balance was beautifully crafted and just really delicious. The third favorite was the lemon raspberry. Pick the gummies off the top first to really appreciate the cake because they tend to overwhelm the delicate flavors. It was fresh and light with a little dollop of raspberry preserves in the top of the frosting. Really lovely. The rest of the cupcakes were as follows: standard white, chocolate, marble swirl, black and white, red velvet(which didn’t taste like food coloring at all!), peanut butter, orange creamsicle, and cannoli. Really, I was happy with all of them. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again… and again.

I have been dying to try the cupcakes here after seeing so many beautiful pictures. The place is really cool inside. Very modern and open and airy. I picked an assortment of six. Red velvet, white, chocolate chip cookie, cannoli, salted caramel pretzel and peanut butter cup. They were all very good and very rich. The frosting is definitely very sugary on some of the flavors. I’m giving 4 stars instead of five because I wish the cake had been a little more moist. Definitely a must try for special occasion or treat. Pricey at $ 4.50 a piece.

I would recommend this place to others. It can get busy quick, but their hospitality is on point. The chairs are bigger and comfortable with high tops and regular tables. There are 2 regular tables, 4 high tops, and about 8 seats along the bar area. Free parking which is great! To the left when you walk in down the little steps there is a room with a large table for private parties or study groups. They serve coffee, espresso, cider, lattes and such as well as desserts like fancy cupcakes and macaroons. The lattes and fancy drinks are about $ 5 each which is okay considering the quality of the coffee and espresso used. I had the cannoli cupcake and it was moist, flavorful and not filled with a chemical taste that cupcakes can sometimes have. The workers there are very kind, they seem to really love working there and value your satisfaction. If you are not satisfied with a drink they make it their duty to make our experience better.

Big open & well-lit space! Perfect for sitting down and getting some work done or meeting up with people. Much quieter than many of the other coffee shops in Roc; I’d definitely come back here to study/be productive. They have tasty simple coffee drinks and a wide variety of teas. A little on the pricier side, $ 3 for simple brew and $ 3 for tea(1 teabag in hot water), but might as well indulge every so often. :) The cupcakes… YUM! They’re pretty big, so my friend and I split one and it was the perfect amount to satisfy our sweet cravings! We had the Black & White cupcake and it was delicious, without being overly sweet, and the texture was on point– rich, moist & full of flavor. 5/5, will be back to try the rest of the flavors!

I’ve been wanting to try this place after reading reviews from fellow Unilocalers. I took family from out of town here. We got to sit in the private room they had. A dining table with beautiful chairs, a large window and a vase with fresh flowers. I ordered the lavender latte and my fiancé got the vanilla bean latte. They were born delicious and I’m a sucker for latte art. I like the variety of lattes available. The dessert counter caught my eyes. We ordered the hazelnut, pistachio, vanilla, and chocolate macarons. I loved them all but my favorite were the pistachio and hazelnut. The peanut butter cupcake was delicious. It had the perfect ratio of sweetness. I’ll be definitely returning to try their other lattes and desserts.

I was getting pampered while my hair processed around the corner the other day and one of the salon workers brought me a cookie from his coffee run! Then ensued a debate about the name of this place, pour? Uppecrust? Glen Edith? Wait isn’t that a place in Letchworth… my mind began to drift, to gorges and waterfalls to oh my gosh buttercream! I wasn’t totally paying attention because I was so busy sinking my teeth into the world’s softest Valentine’s sugar cookie. I devoured it, tastefully of course, and made sure I even mentally prepared for the last bite. It was that– melt in your mouth-amazing. After swallowing I slowly tuned back into reality, and the conversation, and discovered they serve pour coffee! At this point I realized I could have this amazing cookie and my favorite cortado in the same vicinity! After my hair appointment, I stopped over for a coffee and since I couldn’t choose between all the beautiful cupcakes, I opted for the mini cup cake sampler! Best $ 21 ever spent. Though it won’t help me make any cupcake decisions there in the future because every one was absolutely gorgeous and delicious. Especially the Carrot Cake… it borders awfully close to another local carrot cake! I think the answer to the debate is Pour coffee + Uppercrust Cakery = Glen Edith Café? While you can’t look at waterfalls, it does have a nice atmosphere!

I came here on a run to Rochester. As a surprise, my fiancé takes me to a new café. I really love trying new cafes, picking favorites, but always willing to try what’s new. The interior is really nice. The hardwood is great, and the tables are excellent, albeit few in number and the staff was very friendly. We got a cupcake each, and I got a cappuccino. It’s the same coffee as Pour, so you know it’s very solid coffee. Cupcake wise, I got the carrot cake. I think it’s a perfect style to judge a cupcakery on. My cupcake was excellent. Very moist, a little too much frosting, but I like a small amount of frosting anyways so I can’t fault them. For what you get the price is pretty decent. Overall I’d say this place is a nice addition to Rochester!

I’ve been to Glen Edith’s twice now and both times I’ve had a great experience. I tried both the vanilla bean latte and the mocha kick latte. The mocha kick latte is every chocolate lovers dream. They also have some tasty looking desserts which I can’t wait to try! The only downside to Glen Edith’s would be the noise level, when I was there with a friend we had difficulty hearing each other during our study session.

On the hunt for dessert, Ebbster suggested this place so off we went. The area doesn’t look like much on the outside, attached to what looks like an old factory building, but the cute modern rustic look of the place makes you forget once you step inside. I think the«wow» that popped into my head slipped out of my mouth. The first thing I saw was the shiny glass display of pretty sweets! *drool* My eyes then scanned the place and saw that it was equally quaint and inviting, as well as the service. There’s a few pub tables lined along the wall of tall windows, again inviting the beautiful sun to shine in, and there’s chairs along the bar where you can enjoy a cup of coffee. The sweets looked so good so we got a few flavors to share. I’m not a fan of super sweet, hence sugar frosting, so my least favorites were white chocolate coconut and raspberry almond. Both were white cakes topped with white frosting. Cake wise, I thought the coconut one was a bit more dry than the raspberry one. Inside there was more frosting in both. The carrot cake was the runner up. The cream cheese was thick and creamy and the cake was moist, dense, and nicely flavored. If you don’t like frosting like me, fyi, the cute carrots on top are made of frosting. Our winner was the hot chocolate cupcake! If alone, I probably would’ve licked the wrapper. The dark cake looks rich, but it was moist, the frosting was light, the flavors complimented each other and it was pretty! Oh, there’s also a mini dollop of melted marshmallow in the middle for added explosiveness.

Glen Edith is simply adorable. I love the ambiance and friendliness of the employees. I’m certain there’s a human magnet attached to the baked goods display so be careful :-). I’m basing this review on the 1 experience I’ve had here. I’m one of those people who likes to study at café’s so I can feel like I’ve done something fun while studying at the same time. Call me cliché but it keeps my sanity intact. When I visited I had a latte and a hazelnut macaron. Both are AMAZING. The macaron was perfectly baked and the latte wasn’t too sweet; both of which make me happy. The noise factor makes me vote 1 less star for Glen Edith. The music got a little too loud at times, which I found mildly annoying. Additionally, the espresso machine is near most of the seating area, making it difficult to hear people talk when it’s running(which is frequent). I noticed that my friend and I had to repeat ourselves several times because of this factor. Due to the set up of this café, I’m not sure this is something that could be changed. I definitely will be returning to try more of the baked goods but not to study. There’s also ample parking which is a major 2 thumbs up in my book.

The fiancé and I usually take monthly trips up to Rochester to see his mother, and every time, we stop at a different café. Pour has long been one of our favorites because of the delicious beans and the inventive latte flavors. Once I learned about Upper Crust, and the fact that it’s the same owners/coffee/etc as Pour, we decided we had to check it out! The coffee menu seems to be pretty much the exact same as at Pour from what I saw. Upper Crust seems a lot more casual to me, and a bit less uppity in terms of ambiance. They also serve gigantic, delicious cupcakes. We got the carrot cupcake and the Oreo cupcake, and both were delicious! They were moist and not overly sweet(a big issue with frostings). Pair this with a delicious maple latte, and you have yourself a winner!

Upper Crust’s maple latte is like drinking pancakes. In the best possible way. The barista crafted me a half sweet, decaf maple latte and it was one for the books, my friends. Rich and flavorful but not saccharine sweet with a perfect amount of foam and, natch, a gorgeous design to top it all off. That it what latte dreams are made of. Beyond the delightful maple latte, Upper Crust hosts a lovely, well-lit space with plenty of room for co-working or focus time. There are a handful of high boy tables as well as a more private room(with a dining table and pretty chandelier) off to the left when you walk in. In addition to the latte, I snacked on a blueberry scone which was also quite lovely. What would have improved it? Having it warmed up. Noting for next time. Both their pastry case and variety of offerings are impressive and I can certainly see why this place is so beloved in such a short period of time. Odd note: Their single bathroom is *enormous.* It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it seems like some wasted space as you could do gymnastics in there it’s so large.

Upper Crust is a great addition to the pioneer neighborhood that is springing up around the new Three Heads brewery off Atlantic Avenue. After finishing a casual lunch with a friend on Park Avenue, I declared my wish for dessert in the form of a cupcake. «I think I know a place,» he said, and we aimed the car for Rochester’s NOTA neighborhood. We criss-crossed a few streets between the convergence of Atlantic and University until we found Upper Crust Cakery. Located in a beautifully renovated space in an old industrial warehouse, the large windows look right out to the new Three Heads brewery currently under construction. As we circled the block, we saw restaurant kitchen equipment being delivered, so we know that other new places will be coming online soon. Ample parking in the lot that is shared by nearby businesses. Pastries and cupcakes are arranged in attractive display cases. A variety of teas and coffees are available. If you enjoy Pour Coffee Parlour, you’ll enjoy the selection here, as both are provided by Glen Edith Coffee Roasters. I had a cherry cheesecake cupcake, which was a moist vanilla cupcake topped with cheesecake frosting and cherries in glaze. It was a work of art(and if I wasn’t such a glutton, could easily be shared by two). Yes, the prices are premium, but these are not tiny bake sale cupcakes we are talking about here. There are some tables and seating and I saw more than one person tapping away on a laptop while enjoying their coffee on a Tuesday afternoon. Don’t be surprised to see this place fill up quickly, though. I’m looking forward to my next visit. Visit the Upper Crust Cakery for a cupcake or pastry treat you won’t soon forget.

Sweet: A cute, quaint space with delicious desserts, nice drinks, latte art, and casual atmosphere. The macarons are heavenly. Needs sugar: Given this place is pretty popular, there is limited seating.

Upper Crust Cakery is such a wonderful hidden gem in the city of Rochester! A coffee bar and a bakery rolled into one — what more could you ask for? The atmosphere is 5 stars here for sure; it’s so warm and inviting. I love the wood floors, beautiful chalkboard menu, and the large windows. The tables have wooden tops with intricately detailed cast iron legs. The owners gave fabulous attention to detail when designing this shop. The staff here was SO friendly and helpful. One of the managers told us all about their cupcakes, macarons, and coffee options. We decided to purchase two cupcakes to try. We got the York peppermint patty cupcake and the classic red velvet cupcake. Not only were the cupcakes beautifully decorated, but they were so delicious! The red velvet cupcake was my favorite. Both cupcakes were so moist and flavorful, and they had the special surprise of a frosting core on the inside of the cupcake! I didn’t try the coffee here at this visit, so even though I don’t live in the area I’m hoping to get a chance to try the coffee in the future. 5 stars!

I went here for something new and some quiet time and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere is darkish, simple and quiet. Just my speed on a rainy morning. I got the pour over and a berry muffin that clearly had cornbread in it. It was the very best muffin I’ve had in Rochester! There are limited options for add ins to the coffee but that’s fine for a simpleton like myself. Sugar, creamer and honey that’s it. The only downfall was that there was no outlets to charge my laptop. Other than that I loved it!

Loving the new space! It’s in the basement of the newly remodeled Elton St part of NOTA. It’s Upper Crust’s bakery space, that also serves Glen Edith’s coffee(which you know from Pour Coffee Parlor). You’ll see some familiar faces behind the coffee bar(like Ryan!). Go for the pour over if you’re going to hang for coffee. They also offer regular brewed coffee if you’re on the go. Plus, cappuccinos and lattes. All delicious at the hands of the Pour baristas. Upper Crust has cupcakes, cookies, and cakes for sale in their display case(you can also place orders for those things too). In the morning you can grab a scone, muffin or danish. I went for the vanilla bean icing topped scone, which was heavenly. Light and fluffy dough, not too sweet, but the vanilla icing adds a hint of flavor to pair perfectly with a well-rounded cup of coffee. The windows are big, letting in lots of light despite it being below street level. The tables are much like the ones at Pour, what looks like refinished, reclaimed wood. Several 4-seater high top tables and a few 2-seater low tops with fresh flowers in vases to add some color to the space. There’s also a meeting space area that you can reserve, which is nice! A great spot to hang for a few hours, chat with friends, or get some work done. I’m looking forward to trying more of their sweets as their cupcakes are really moist and airy. My kinda deal. Cookies look good too! I’ll be back when I need to get out of the house to spend my mornings working on my laptop.
