Reasons I do not recommend this establishment and am taking my business elsewhere: 1) After only one brief consultation, the artist/owner contacted me with a message that had more than friendly implications. 2) The artist then attempted to elicit a dinner date from me and continued to press after I had politely declined. 3) The manner in which this date was brought into context insinuated that the cost of the tattoo would be effected by my answer. He claimed to have only been joking. 4) After brushing all of this aside, I went back to the shop to see what had been drawn up. It was hardly more than a few scribbled lines. 5) There was a noticeable difference in his demeanor compared to our initial meeting. After showing him my updated ideas and attempting to have an open conversation about the concept, I was met with tension, passive aggression and condescending tones. 6) This continued throughout almost the entire discussion which was sprinkled with off beat comments, unnecessary opinions and arrogant questions. 7) When I went to confirm my appointment I was told it was a day earlier than what was written on my appointment card. The day he had apparently marked me down for is inconvenient and incorrect. 8) This whole experience left me feeling patronized and disrespected not only as a costumer but as a woman.

So although I haven’t actually gotten my new tattoo from Voodoo, I already love everything about this shop. It’s a small shop, it’s clean, cozy and has really nice lighting(very relaxing, not bright harsh lights). There’s a couch in the front and a couple stations which probably belong the each of the artists. Of all the tattoo parlors I have been in(maybe 5 throughout the years? watching tattoos and getting them,) this is by far the most comfortable feeling. Emma was great. I called earlier in the week to set up a consultation with her; showed up today for said appointment, and she was ready to go. Helpful, friendly, and the whole process was super easy. There was someone getting a tattoo done by another artist while I was there, and artist #2 seemed very nice as well. They require a deposit on tattoos if you’re making an appointment for a later date, but the deposit goes towards the total cost. Can’t wait for the actual tattoo part!

I have seen much of their work, and it is all fabulous! Plus, they are very involved with agencies that are important to me and to the community. First rate work, and first rate folk!
