Great atmosphere, beautiful place, and great service. Started with the pretzels which were very good, then I ordered the Tavern burger. This was a let down. Apparently they don’t believe in seasoning their meat. The burger itself was juicy, but very bland. Salt and pepper before going on the grill would have made it, but no. A couple of days later a co-worker said she had eaten there and her burger was bland also. Something to think about. It’s fixable.

HT is a really nice place with great music and plenty of parking. Drinks are a little pricey and food for the most part is good. However the last few times we ordered oysters(raw and steamed) they were substandard. Milky and tasteless. The steamed shrimp is good one week and not the next time. Also we eat at the bar and we always have to ask for salt and pepper, etc. The ahi tuna is good. Lots of TV’S for sports.

Our wait was long for our food to arrive. There seemed to be adequate staffing so I’m not sure what took so long, well over an hour from the time we walked in to when our food arrived. Restaurant was not exactly full. Food was good, I ordered a hamburger and it was somewhat salty. The noise level is pretty loud. It’s somewhat hard to hear the waitress. I know the establishment is a bar the noise level was on a whole different level. I really wanted to like Hickory Tavern as the options for food are limited in this area. The wait was enough to make me avoid coming back. I think the difference would have been an apology because it was obvious we were waiting for some time.

Worst customer service ever! Manager said she could not take reservations but said not to worry there was no wait. We wanted to have a nice dinner with our team of 15. Got there was told that we had to wait about an hour. Was also told that we should have gotten on this«no wait» app! Which means it’s a damn reservation. Very disappointed in this location and their manager! Will never come there to deal with her attitude and lies! If I could give it 0 starts I would!

The manager Brenda was great! We had an extra long wait and she came and made everything right for the large party I had waiting. I will choose this Hickory Tavern over others as much as possible.

Hickory Tavern is a wonderful addition to Rock Hill and a much needed improvement to the restaurant/bar scene in the Celanese Road area. The atmosphere is pleasant and upbeat. It is a great place for singles, families and groups. The food is good and the beer selection is excellent. The service is fine and management is on top of any issues that develop. The only concern is parking is tight almost every night. I am confident you will enjoy an evening at Hickory Tavern. You will especially enjoy the evening if you go with friends to watch a game. I think the outside seating will be very enjoyable during good weather.

I was a little nervous about trying Hickory Tavern based on the previous reviews, but I’m glad I did. I think they’ve worked out their issues(or they had when we went on a Wednesday night at 6:00), and we couldn’t have had better service. The fella and I sat at the bar, which had a ton of seating, and there were plenty of high-tops and restaurant tables when we got there… not so much when we left. Our bartender was friendly and attentive; she introduced herself and asked our names. Usually that annoys me, but she seemed really genuine. True confession: we were both super lame and got healthy food at a sports bar. However, the yellow rice was delicious! I know, I know. I got the Greek Chicken Plate with yellow rice off the skinny menu($ 9.50) and the fella got the Oregon Cedar Salmon with yellow rice and broccoli($ 17.30). We both joined the clean plate club. However, we sat right next to the kitchen, and I was drooling over the food coming out of the kitchen — the chicken tenders looked especially decadent. Two entrees, a glass of wine, and two beers ran us $ 50 + tip. Add in some great service, and this is a solid choice for dinner. It’s your typical Hickory Tavern, it’s definitely a sports bar, and there are TVs everywhere(but not overwhelmingly so), so adjust your expectations accordingly.

Im not a environmentally sensitive man by any means. But even a man of stone cant ignore the pure sensory overload in this place. You cant turn your head 10 degrees in any direction in here without being in the direct line of fire of a flatscreen. Aside from all of that the beer list is respectable, and the food was good. My waitress was nice and didn’t leave me hanging even when it got busy. My only dislikes were the noise level and the good, but extremely predictable menu. I would have liked to have seen a couple bbq or exotic items on the menu instead of plain pub grub. But the cocktails and beer list makes up for it. All in all a good show.

I went for lunch and they were not very busy but they were still very slow getting the food out. I had the lobster roll and it was OK. This has a nice atmosphere but I would put chains like Applebee’s and Chilis ahead of this.

Almost an hour for apps. hour and 20 for dinner. manager came over and said I don’t know what the kitchens problem is tonight. I’ll take take your apps. Then must not of communicated with server. Food was great it just took a while to get it. Very unorganised. Maybe smaller server sections would be of help. If kitchen is losing tickets or crashing start setting guests in smaller increments. Love the concept but could use some TLC.

My husband and I had lunch here today for the first time. The food was very good, service excellent, prices okay but a little on the high side. The deal-breaker for us was the noise level in the restaurant. I don’t know why customers have to be subjected to a barrage of loud rock music. Of course, if people want to have a conversation, they have to talk over the music, which just contributes to the noise. Not an atmosphere conducive to a pleasant dining experience! Even with good food and service at this restaurant, I doubt that we’ll be back.
